## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Norway Company Registry (Brreg): Search & Lookup

Search the Norwegian Business Register (Enhetsregisteret) by name, org number, industry (NACE), municipality, org form or headcount. Returns industry, employees, founding date, website, address, VAT/bankruptcy flags and share capital. Official open data. $1 per 1,000 companies.

**Data source:** the official open API of the Brønnøysund Register Centre (data.brreg.no, Norwegian Licence for Open Government Data, NLOD). It needs no login, proxy or browser. Results are returned as clean, flat JSON that is ready for spreadsheets, databases, BI tools and AI agents.

### What can you use it for?

- Build Norwegian B2B lead lists by industry, municipality and headcount
- Enrich CRM records with org number, website and employee count
- Supplier checks: bankruptcy, liquidation and VAT registration flags
- Track newly founded companies in a sector (founded-from filter)
- Use it as a tool from AI agents through the Apify MCP server, or schedule it and send new results to Slack, Google Sheets or a webhook

### Input

| Field | Name | Description |
|---|---|---|
| `queries` | Name search | Company names or words in the name |
| `orgNumbers` | Organisation numbers | 9-digit org numbers for exact lookup |
| `industryCodes` | Industry codes (NACE) | e.g. 62.010 (software) |
| `municipalityNumbers` | Municipality numbers | e.g. 0301 (Oslo) |
| `orgForms` | Organisation forms | e.g. AS, ASA, ENK |
| `minEmployees` | Min employees | Only companies with at least this many employees |
| `maxEmployees` | Max employees | Only companies with at most this many employees |
| `foundedFrom` | Founded from | YYYY-MM-DD |
| `excludeBankrupt` | Exclude bankrupt | Skip bankrupt companies |
| `maxResultsPerQuery` | Max results per search | Companies per search (API max 10,000) |
| `maxResults` | Max results total | Stop after this many companies |

#### Example input

```json
{
  "queries": [
    "equinor"
  ],
  "orgNumbers": [
    "923609016"
  ],
  "maxResultsPerQuery": 5
}
```

### Output

Each result is one dataset item with these fields: `query`, `orgNumber`, `name`, `type`, `parentOrgNumber`, `orgForm`, `orgFormName`, `industryCode`, `industry`, `otherIndustries`, `employees`, `foundedAt`, `registeredAt`, `website`, `street`, `postalCode`, `city`, `municipality`, `country`, `vatRegistered`, `inBusinessRegister`, `partOfGroup`, `bankrupt`, `underLiquidation`, `lastAnnualAccounts`, `shareCapitalNOK`, `purpose`, `brregUrl`, `source`, `scrapedAt`.

#### Example output (real result, long fields shortened)

```json
{
  "query": "923609016",
  "orgNumber": "923609016",
  "name": "EQUINOR ASA",
  "type": "main unit",
  "parentOrgNumber": null,
  "orgForm": "ASA",
  "orgFormName": "Allmennaksjeselskap",
  "industryCode": "06.100",
  "industry": "Utvinning av råolje",
  "otherIndustries": [
    "06.200 Utvinning av naturgass",
    "19.200 Produksjon av raffinerte petroleumsprodukter og fossile brenselsprodukter"
  ],
  "employees": 21231,
  "foundedAt": "1972-09-18",
  "registeredAt": "1995-03-12",
  "website": "https://www.equinor.com"
}
```

Rows that could not be processed (for example a handle, package or domain that does not exist) are returned with an `error` field and are **not charged**.

Download the results as JSON, CSV, Excel or XML, or read them through the Apify API.

### Pricing

This Actor uses **pay-per-event** pricing. You pay **$0.001 per company** returned, plus standard Apify platform usage, which is small because the Actor uses lightweight HTTP requests (no browser). You are never charged for results that are not returned. To cap spending, set a maximum cost per run in the run options.

### Tips

- Start with a small max-results value to check your filters, then scale up.
- Schedule the Actor (for example daily) to monitor changes over time.
- The data comes straight from the source, so its freshness and completeness depend on that publisher.
