## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Shopify Price Drop & Restock Alerts (Any Store)

Track any Shopify store and get only what changed since the last run: price drops (with % and amount), price increases, new products, back-in-stock, out-of-stock and removed items. First run saves a baseline. Schedule it daily for deal alerts or competitor price monitoring.

**Data source:** each store's public /products.json storefront endpoint; product snapshots are kept in a named key-value store in your own Apify account. It needs no login, proxy or browser. Results are returned as clean, flat JSON that is ready for spreadsheets, databases, BI tools and AI agents.

### How it works

The first run saves a baseline of every product's lowest variant price and stock status. With **First run output** set to `all` every product is returned as `baseline`; set it to `none` to save the baseline for free. Each later run returns only the changes since the previous run: `price-drop`, `price-increase`, `new-product`, `back-in-stock`, `out-of-stock` and `removed`. `removed` is only reported when the store has fewer products than your max-products limit. Schedule it daily and connect a Slack, email or webhook integration for alerts.

### What can you use it for?

- Competitor price monitoring for DTC brands and agencies
- Deal and coupon sites: daily price-drop feeds
- Restock alerts for popular products
- Track new product launches across many stores
- Use it as a tool from AI agents through the Apify MCP server, or schedule it and send new results to Slack, Google Sheets or a webhook

### Input

| Field | Name | Description |
|---|---|---|
| `storeUrls` | Shopify store URLs | Store homepages, e.g. https://www.allbirds.com |
| `alertTypes` | Change types | Which changes to output after the first run: price-drop, price-increase, new-product, back-in-stock, out-of-stock, removed |
| `minDropPct` | Minimum drop % | Only report price drops of at least this percent |
| `firstRunOutput` | First run output | all = output every product as baseline on the first run; none = save the baseline silently (no charge) |
| `maxProductsPerStore` | Max products per store | Products tracked per store |
| `stateStoreName` | Snapshot store name | Named key-value store that holds the previous prices |

#### Example input

```json
{
  "storeUrls": [
    "https://www.allbirds.com",
    "https://www.brooklinen.com",
    "https://www.tentree.com"
  ],
  "maxProductsPerStore": 5
}
```

### Output

Each result is one dataset item with these fields: `changeType`, `store`, `productId`, `title`, `vendor`, `productType`, `url`, `image`, `price`, `priceMax`, `compareAtPrice`, `onSale`, `discountFromCompareAtPct`, `available`, `variantCount`, `checkedAt`, `previousPrice`, `priceChange`, `priceChangePct`, `previousCheckedAt`.

#### Example output (real result, long fields shortened)

```json
{
  "changeType": "baseline",
  "store": "https://www.allbirds.com",
  "productId": 7340901859408,
  "title": "Women's Allbirds Flip Flop - Dusty Pink",
  "image": "https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1104/4168/files/A12513_26Q2_Allbirds-Flip-Flop-Dusty-Pink_PDP_LEFT.png?v=1774646345",
  "price": 50,
  "priceMax": 50,
  "compareAtPrice": null,
  "onSale": false,
  "discountFromCompareAtPct": 0,
  "available": true,
  "variantCount": 7,
  "checkedAt": "2026-11-02T17:38:20.275Z",
  "previousPrice": null,
  "priceChange": null,
  "priceChangePct": null,
  "previousCheckedAt": null
}
```

Download the results as JSON, CSV, Excel or XML, or read them through the Apify API.

### Pricing

This Actor uses **pay-per-event** pricing. You pay **$0.002 per product change** returned, plus standard Apify platform usage, which is small because the Actor uses lightweight HTTP requests (no browser). You are never charged for results that are not returned. To cap spending, set a maximum cost per run in the run options.

### Tips

- Start with a small max-results value to check your filters, then scale up.
- Schedule the Actor (for example daily) to monitor changes over time.
- The data comes straight from the source, so its freshness and completeness depend on that publisher.
