## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

### What does Shopify & WooCommerce Products Scraper do?

It exports the **full product catalogue of any Shopify or WooCommerce store**: titles, prices, sale prices, every variant (size, colour) with its own price, SKU and stock status, images, vendor, categories, tags and ratings.

Paste store URLs, press Start, and download the results as **JSON, CSV, Excel or HTML**, or pull them through the Apify API.

- **One tool for both platforms.** It detects whether a store runs on Shopify or WooCommerce by itself.
- **Price and stock monitoring built in.** Turn on *Only return changes since the last run*, schedule it daily, and you get only new products, removed products, price changes, out-of-stock and back-in-stock events. You pay only for what changed.
- **Fast and reliable.** It reads the store's own public product feed (`/products.json` on Shopify, the Store API on WooCommerce), not the HTML pages, so there is no browser and no layout breakage, and a typical store is done in seconds to a few minutes.
- **Polite.** It checks each store's `robots.txt` and skips stores that disallow it, and honours `Crawl-delay`. It never logs in and reads no customer data, only the public catalogue.

### Who uses it

- **Competitor price tracking** for e-commerce brands and agencies.
- **Dropshipping and product research**: find what a store sells and at what price.
- **Catalogue migration**: export a store's products before moving platforms.
- **Market and pricing analysis** across many stores in a niche.

### How to scrape a Shopify or WooCommerce store

1. Paste one or more store URLs into **Store URLs** (the home page is enough).
2. Optional: set **Max products per store**, pick **One row per** product or variant, and turn on **Only return changes** for monitoring.
3. Click **Start**. Most stores finish in under a minute.
4. Download the dataset as **CSV, Excel, JSON, XML or HTML**, or open it in the table view.

Not sure what platform a store uses? You don't need to know: leave **Platform** on Auto-detect. Stores that are neither Shopify nor WooCommerce are skipped for free and listed in the run's `SUMMARY`.

### How much does it cost?

Pay per result: **$1.00 per 1,000 results** (one result = one product, or one variant row in variant mode, or one change in only-changes mode). No monthly fee. Platform compute is included.

Examples: a 500-product store costs about **$0.50**. A daily change check on that store typically costs a few cents a day.

### Input

| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Store URLs | Home page of each store, e.g. `https://www.allbirds.com`. For Shopify, a collection URL such as `https://store.com/collections/sale` reads only that collection. |
| Platform | Auto-detect (default), Shopify or WooCommerce. |
| Max products per store | 0 = whole catalogue. |
| One row per | Product (variants nested) or Variant (one row per size/colour). |
| Only return changes since the last run | For scheduled monitoring. |
| Include product description | Adds the description as plain text. |

### Output example

```json
{
  "storeUrl": "https://www.example-store.com",
  "platform": "shopify",
  "productId": "7423156",
  "title": "Organic Cotton Tee",
  "url": "https://www.example-store.com/products/organic-cotton-tee",
  "vendor": "Example",
  "productType": "T-Shirts",
  "tags": ["cotton", "summer"],
  "sku": "TEE-S",
  "price": 24,
  "compareAtPrice": 32,
  "discountPercent": 25,
  "minPrice": 24,
  "maxPrice": 26,
  "currency": "USD",
  "onSale": true,
  "available": true,
  "variantCount": 4,
  "variants": [
    { "id": "4011", "title": "S / White", "sku": "TEE-S", "price": 24, "compareAtPrice": 32, "available": true, "options": ["S", "White"] }
  ],
  "imageUrl": "https://cdn.example.com/tee.jpg",
  "createdAt": "2026-03-02T10:00:00Z",
  "updatedAt": "2026-10-28T08:12:00Z",
  "scrapedAt": "2026-11-01T12:00:00Z"
}
```

In only-changes mode each row also has `changeType` (`new`, `removed`, `price_changed`, `out_of_stock`, `back_in_stock`, `price_and_stock_changed`), `previousPrice` and `previousAvailable`.

### Tips

- **Monitoring:** create a Task with *Only return changes* on, schedule it, and connect the dataset to Google Sheets, Slack or a webhook through Apify integrations.
- **Currency:** Shopify feeds do not include currency; it is read from the store's `meta.json` when available.
- **WooCommerce variants** list their attributes, but the public Store API gives prices per product, not per variant.
- A store that turned off its public product feed, or blocks it in `robots.txt`, is skipped and listed in the run's `SUMMARY` record. Those stores are not charged.

### Integrations and API

- **Google Sheets, Slack, email, webhooks**: connect the dataset in the Integrations tab, or use Make, Zapier or n8n.
- **Scheduled monitoring**: save your input as a Task and add a schedule (daily is typical). With *Only return changes* on, each run lists only what moved.
- **API**: run it from Python, Node.js or any HTTP client with the Apify API, and read results as JSON or CSV.
- **AI agents**: available through the Apify MCP server, so assistants such as Claude can pull a store's catalogue on demand.

### FAQ

**Does it work on any Shopify store?** It works on stores that keep Shopify's standard public product feed switched on, which is the default. A few large stores block it; those are skipped and not charged.

**Does it get WooCommerce variant prices?** It returns each variant's attributes. The public WooCommerce Store API gives prices per product (with a min/max range), not per variant.

**Can I scrape one Shopify collection?** Yes. Paste the collection URL, e.g. `https://store.com/collections/sale`.

**How is this different from a generic web scraper?** It uses the store's structured product feed, so prices, stock and variants are exact, and it keeps working when the store changes its theme.

**Why did a store return nothing?** Check the run's `SUMMARY` record: it says whether the store blocked the feed, disallowed it in `robots.txt`, or isn't a Shopify/WooCommerce store.

### Is it legal?

It reads only the public product information that stores publish for anyone to see, follows each store's `robots.txt`, and collects no personal data. You are responsible for how you use the data, including the target site's terms.

# Actor input Schema

## `startUrls` (type: `array`):

Shopify or WooCommerce stores. A home page is enough (e.g. https://www.allbirds.com). For Shopify you can also paste a collection URL to read only that collection.

## `platform` (type: `string`):

Leave on Auto-detect unless you know the platform and want to skip the check.

## `maxProductsPerStore` (type: `integer`):

0 means the whole catalogue.

## `outputLevel` (type: `string`):

Product: one row per product with its variants nested. Variant: one row per size/colour variant with its own price, SKU and stock (Shopify; WooCommerce variants carry product-level prices).

## `onlyChanges` (type: `boolean`):

For price and stock monitoring on a schedule. The first run returns every product as "new"; later runs return only new, removed, price-changed, out-of-stock and back-in-stock products, so you pay only for what changed.

## `includeDescription` (type: `boolean`):

Adds the description as plain text.

## `maxConcurrency` (type: `integer`):

How many stores to read at the same time. Each store is still read politely, one request at a time.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Usually not needed: store feeds are public. Use it only if a store rate-limits you.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "startUrls": [
    {
      "url": "https://www.allbirds.com"
    }
  ],
  "platform": "auto",
  "maxProductsPerStore": 50,
  "outputLevel": "product",
  "onlyChanges": false,
  "includeDescription": false,
  "maxConcurrency": 5,
  "proxyConfiguration": {
    "useApifyProxy": false
  }
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `products` (type: `string`):

One row per product, variant or change, depending on the input.

## `summary` (type: `string`):

Per-store status: platform detected, products read, rows saved, and why a store was skipped.
