## Pricing

from $0.93 / 1,000 articles

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Google News Scraper: Articles with Real Publisher URLs

**Collect news articles from Google News for any search query, topic section or local news location,** in any country edition and language Google News offers. For every article you get the headline, the publisher's name and website, the publication date, the Google News link and the **real publisher article URL** (decoded from Google's redirect link), plus related coverage and, optionally, the full article text. **$1.50 per 1,000 articles.**

### What can this Google News scraper do?

- **Search with Google News operators:** `"exact phrase"`, `OR`, `-exclude`, `site:reuters.com`, `intitle:word`, `when:7d`, `after:2026-01-01`, `before:2026-02-01`.
- **Read topic sections:** World, Nation, Business, Technology, Entertainment, Sports, Science, Health.
- **Get local news** for a city, region or country, and **top stories** for an edition.
- **Paste Google News URLs** copied from your browser (topic, search or publication pages).
- **Decode real article URLs** so you can open or process the publisher's page directly.
- **Go past Google's ~100-results limit** by searching smaller date windows automatically.
- **Extract full text** (optional) with author, image and description.
- **De-duplicate** across queries.

### What data do you get?

| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| `title`, `source`, `sourceUrl`, `sourceDomain` | Headline and publisher |
| `publishedAt` | ISO 8601, UTC |
| `articleUrl`, `articleDomain` | The publisher's own article URL |
| `googleNewsUrl`, `articleId` | Google News link and ID |
| `snippet`, `relatedCoverage` | Extra text when Google supplies it, and other outlets covering the story |
| `query`, `feedType`, `feedLabel`, `rank`, `country`, `language`, `scrapedAt` | Where the article came from |
| `fullText`, `wordCount`, `author`, `image`, `description`, `fullTextStatus` | With full text on |

### How much does it cost?

| Event | Price | Per 1,000 |
|---|---|---|
| Article (decoded publisher URL included) | $0.0015 | **$1.50** |
| Full article text (only when extracted) | $0.0008 | $0.80 |

Plus a $0.00005 start fee per run. Examples: 50 articles a day for a month (1,500) cost $2.25; 1,000 articles with full text cost about $2.30. Paywalled or blocked pages are not charged for full text.

**Volume discounts on higher Apify plans.** The prices above are for the Apify Free plan. On paid plans the per-result price drops automatically: about 15% lower on Bronze, 25% lower on Silver and 38% lower on Gold and above.

### Use it via API, Make, Zapier, n8n or an AI agent

**Apify API.** Start a run and get the results back in one HTTP request (replace `YOUR_API_TOKEN` with the token from Apify Console > Settings > Integrations):

```bash
curl -X POST "https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/plotpointtech~google-news-scraper/run-sync-get-dataset-items?token=YOUR_API_TOKEN" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"queries": ["\"electric vehicles\" when:7d", "site:reuters.com tariffs"], "country": "US", "language": "en", "timeRange": "7d", "maxArticlesPerQuery": 50, "decodeUrls": true}'
```

For longer jobs, start the run asynchronously and read the dataset when it finishes. Official `apify-client` libraries exist for Python and JavaScript; the **API** tab on this page has ready-made code.

**No-code automation.** Connect the tool to **Make, Zapier, n8n, Google Sheets, Slack, Airtable** or any webhook with Apify integrations, and use **Schedules** in Apify Console to run it hourly, daily or weekly.

**AI agents (MCP).** Give Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code or any MCP-compatible agent direct access to this tool through the hosted Apify MCP server. Add this server URL to your client:

```
https://mcp.apify.com?tools=plotpointtech/google-news-scraper
```

The agent can then call the tool with the same input fields shown above and read the results.

### FAQ

**Is it legal to scrape Google News?**
The tool reads Google News' public RSS feeds, which Google offers mainly for feed readers, and paces its requests. Headlines, snippets and especially full article text belong to the publishers. You are responsible for using the data in line with Google's and publishers' terms and copyright law (for example, link to articles rather than republishing them).

**How many articles can I get per search?**
Google News returns about 100 articles per search. Above that, the tool splits the date range into smaller windows; very broad terms over long periods still return a sample.

**Why is full text missing for some articles?**
Some publishers block automated visits or use paywalls. `fullTextStatus` says why.

**Which editions are supported?**
Any Google News edition, for example US/en, GB/en, IN/en, DE/de, FR/fr, MX/es-419, BR/pt-419, JP/ja.

**How is this different from the News Scraper (GDELT)?**
This tool follows Google News rankings and editions. Our worldwide News Scraper uses the open GDELT database, with tone scores and extracted entities.

# Actor input Schema

## `queries` (type: `array`):

One Google News search per line. Google News operators work: "exact phrase", OR, -exclude, site:reuters.com, intitle:word, when:7d, after:2026-01-01, before:2026-02-01.

## `topics` (type: `array`):

Google News topic sections to read (latest headlines for the chosen country and language).

## `locations` (type: `array`):

City, region or country names for Google News local headlines, e.g. "Indianapolis" or "Bavaria".

## `topStories` (type: `boolean`):

Also read the Google News top stories (home page) feed for the chosen country and language.

## `feedUrls` (type: `array`):

Optional news.google.com topic, search or publication URLs copied from your browser. They are converted to the matching RSS feed.

## `country` (type: `string`):

Two-letter country code for the Google News edition, e.g. US, GB, IN, DE, FR, JP, BR.

## `language` (type: `string`):

Language code for the edition, e.g. en, de, fr, ja. Latin American Spanish is es-419; Brazilian Portuguese is pt-419. Must be a combination Google News offers for the country.

## `timeRange` (type: `string`):

Only for search queries, when no dates are set: how far back to search.

## `dateFrom` (type: `string`):

Date (YYYY-MM-DD). Applied to searches with Google's after: operator and to every feed as an exact filter. Overrides Time range.

## `dateTo` (type: `string`):

Date (YYYY-MM-DD), inclusive.

## `maxArticlesPerQuery` (type: `integer`):

Google returns up to about 100 articles per search. Above 100, the date range is split into smaller windows automatically to collect more.

## `decodeUrls` (type: `boolean`):

Resolve each Google News link to the publisher's own article URL (included in the article price). Turn off for the fastest runs.

## `extractFullText` (type: `boolean`):

Download each publisher page and extract the main article text, author, image and description. Charged as a separate event, only when text is found. Needs decoded URLs.

## `includeRelatedCoverage` (type: `boolean`):

Add the other outlets' headlines and links Google groups with a story, when present.

## `deduplicate` (type: `boolean`):

Skip articles already returned by an earlier query in the same run (same Google article, same publisher URL, or same headline from the same source).

## `splitDateRange` (type: `boolean`):

When Max articles is above 100 and a date range or time range of 2+ days is set, search day windows separately to collect more than Google's 100-item limit.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Used only if Google rate-limits the run (HTTP 429). Requests go direct otherwise.
