## Pricing

from $0.62 / 1,000 trends records

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Google Trends Scraper: Interest Over Time, Regions and Rising Queries

**Get Google Trends data for any search term as clean JSON, in bulk:** interest over time, interest by region, related queries (top and rising), related topics, and today's trending searches for a country. Fetch terms one by one or compare up to 5 together, exactly like the comparison chart on the Trends website. **$1 per 1,000 records.**

### What can this Google Trends scraper do?

- **Interest over time** for any time range: past hour to 2004-present, or a custom date range.
- **Interest by region:** countries, states, cities or US metro areas (DMA).
- **Related queries and topics**, top and rising, with growth such as `+250%` or `Breakout`.
- **Daily trending searches** for any country, with approximate traffic and news links.
- **Compare terms** in groups of up to 5 so values are relative to each other.
- **Any country, category and Google property:** web search, News, YouTube, Images or Shopping.

### What data do you get?

Every record has `searchTerm`, `dataType`, `geo`, `timeRange`, `category`, `property`, `comparedWith` and `scrapedAt`, plus:

| Data type | Fields |
|---|---|
| `interestOverTime` | `resolution`, `averageValue`, `peakValue`, `peakDate`, `pointCount`, `timeline` of `{date, formattedTime, value, isPartial}` |
| `interestByRegion` | `regions` of `{geoCode, geoName, value}`, highest first |
| `relatedQueries` | `top` and `rising` lists of `{rank, query, value, formattedValue, link}` |
| `relatedTopics` | `top` and `rising` lists with topic title, type and ID |
| `trendingSearch` | `rank`, `approxTraffic`, `startedAt`, `picture`, `newsItems`, `exploreUrl` |

### Who uses it?

- **SEO and content teams** checking whether a topic is growing or seasonal before writing about it.
- **Marketers and product teams** comparing brands, products or features by search interest and by state or country.
- **Analysts and researchers** who need Trends time series in a spreadsheet, database or notebook on a schedule.
- **Newsrooms and social teams** watching the daily trending searches.

### How to use it

1. Click **Try for free** (or **Start**).
2. Enter **Search terms** (keywords or topic IDs such as `/m/02_286`).
3. Pick **Location** (`US`, `GB`, `US-CA`, or empty for worldwide) and **Time range**.
4. Turn on **Compare terms** to put them on one chart.
5. Run it and export to Excel, CSV or JSON, or send the data to Google Sheets.

### Input example

{
  "searchTerms": [
    "coffee",
    "matcha"
  ],
  "compareTerms": true,
  "geo": "US",
  "timeRange": "today 12-m",
  "dataTypes": [

}
```
      "formattedTime": "Nov 9 – 15, 2025",
      "value": 73,
      "isPartial": false
    }
  ],
  "scrapedAt": "2026-10-28T14:33:46Z"
}
```

### How much does it cost?

You pay per record: **$1 per 1,000 records** ($0.001 each), plus a $0.00005 start fee per run. One record = one term x one data type (or one trending search).

| You fetch | Records | You pay |
|---|---|---|
| 1 term, 3 data types (default) | 3 | $0.003 |
| 100 keywords, 3 data types | 300 | $0.30 |
| 1,000 keywords, interest over time only | 1,000 | $1.00 |
| Daily top 50 trending searches for a month | 1,500 | $1.50 |

Data types for which Google returns nothing are not pushed and not charged.

### Use it via API, Make, Zapier, n8n or an AI agent

**Apify API.** Start a run and get the results back in one HTTP request (replace `YOUR_API_TOKEN` with the token from Apify Console > Settings > Integrations):

```bash
curl -X POST "https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/plotpointtech~google-trends-scraper/run-sync-get-dataset-items?token=YOUR_API_TOKEN" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"searchTerms": ["coffee", "matcha"], "compareTerms": true, "geo": "US", "timeRange": "today 12-m", "dataTypes": ["interestOverTime", "interestByRegion", "relatedQueries"]}'
```

For longer jobs, start the run asynchronously and read the dataset when it finishes. Official `apify-client` libraries exist for Python and JavaScript; the **API** tab on this page has ready-made code.

**No-code automation.** Connect the tool to **Make, Zapier, n8n, Google Sheets, Slack, Airtable** or any webhook with Apify integrations, and use **Schedules** in Apify Console to run it hourly, daily or weekly.

**AI agents (MCP).** Give Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code or any MCP-compatible agent direct access to this tool through the hosted Apify MCP server. Add this server URL to your client:

```
https://mcp.apify.com?tools=plotpointtech/google-trends-scraper
```

The agent can then call the tool with the same input fields shown above and read the results.

### FAQ

**Is it legal to scrape Google Trends?**
The tool reads the same public, aggregated data the Google Trends website shows, plus Google's public trending-searches RSS feed. No login is used and requests are paced politely. Trends data is aggregated and anonymous. Check that your use fits Google's terms.

**Are the values search volumes?**
No. Like the Trends website, values are relative (0 to 100) to the highest point in the chart. Values from separate runs or separate comparison groups are not on the same scale.

**Why are some rising queries unrelated to my term?**
Google sometimes mixes generic queries into rising lists for automated requests. The rising-query filter (`filterUnrelatedRising`, on by default) removes those that share no word with your term. Treat rising lists as indicative. Related topics are often returned empty.

**What if Google rate-limits the run?**
Requests are retried with backoff. Terms that still fail are logged, skipped and not charged.

**Can I get data for a city or US metro area?**
Yes. Set Region resolution to `CITY` or `DMA`.

Drop rising related queries that share no word with the search term. Google often mixes unrelated generic queries into rising lists returned to automated clients; see the README. Not applied to topic IDs.

## `regionResolution` (type: `string`):

Level for interest by region. Auto = countries for worldwide, sub-regions (states) for a country. DMA (metro) is US only.
