## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## LEI Lookup & GLEIF Search: Status, Renewal Date, Parent Company

Check any Legal Entity Identifier (LEI) in seconds, or search the official GLEIF database by company name, country and LEI status. Every run returns the **current record for every LEI**: legal name, whether the LEI is valid or lapsed, next renewal date, legal and head-office address, local company number, and parent companies.

No API key, no sign-up with GLEIF. Data comes straight from the official GLEIF API (the Global LEI System "Golden Copy", updated several times a day).

### Who uses it

- **KYC / onboarding teams:** verify a counterparty's LEI before trading or onboarding.
- **Regulatory reporting (EMIR, MiFIR, SFTR):** find lapsed LEIs in your counterparty file before a report is rejected.
- **Data and CRM teams:** enrich a list of LEIs with names, addresses, company numbers and group parents.
- **LEI service providers:** build lists of lapsed LEIs by country.

### What you get on the first run

Press **Start** with the prefilled example and you get 3 rows like these:

| LEI | Legal name | LEI status | Renewal due | Overdue | Company no. | Ultimate parent |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| W38RGI023J3WT1HWRP32 | Siemens Aktiengesellschaft | ISSUED | 2027-10-25 | no | HRB 6684 | – |
| 529900Q0S0U4SD53JT22 | SIEMENS LOGISTICS LIMITED | LAPSED | 2023-04-02 | **yes** | 08612108 | Siemens Aktiengesellschaft |
| HWUPKR0MPOU8FGXBT394 | Apple Inc. | ISSUED | 2027-03-08 | no | 806592 | – |

Each row also includes `entity_status`, `days_to_renewal`, `legal_address`, `headquarters_address`, `jurisdiction`, `legal_form_code`, `incorporation_date`, `previous_legal_names`, `bic`, `managing_lou`, `corroboration_level`, `direct_parent_lei/name` and a link to the GLEIF record.

</details>

### How to use it

1. **Look up a list:** paste your LEIs (thousands are fine; they are fetched 100 at a time).
2. **Or search:** type a company name, and/or pick a country and an LEI status. Example: country `GB` + status `Lapsed` + entity `Active` lists active UK companies whose LEI has lapsed.
3. Download the results as Excel, CSV or JSON, or connect them to your tools through the Apify API.

Turn off **Include parent companies** for very large lists to make the run faster.

### Optional: change alerts

Want to know when an LEI lapses, an entity is renamed or moves, or gets a new parent? Tick **Track changes between runs** and schedule the Actor (daily or weekly). Each row then says `NEW`, `CHANGED` (with the old values) or `UNCHANGED`. Tick **Only output new or changed LEIs** to get just the alerts. The first run always returns the full list.

### Pricing

You pay per LEI record returned, plus a tiny start fee per run:

- **$0.002 per LEI record** (parents included)
- **$0.02 per change alert** (only in change-tracking runs, only when something changed)
- LEIs that are invalid or not found are listed but **never charged**.

**Cost examples:** 1,000 LEIs ≈ **$2**. A weekly check of 500 LEIs with "only changes" costs a few cents a week when nothing changes.

### FAQ

**Is this official data?** Yes. It comes from GLEIF's public API, which publishes the Global LEI System records under a CC0 licence.

**How fresh is it?** Each row has `data_as_of`, the GLEIF Golden Copy publication time used for the run.

**Limits:** search returns up to 10,000 rows per run; GLEIF allows about 60 requests a minute, which the Actor respects automatically.

# Actor input Schema

## `leis` (type: `array`):

20-character Legal Entity Identifiers. Up to thousands per run (looked up 100 at a time). Invalid codes are reported and not charged. If you leave both this list and the search empty, the run uses the 3 example LEIs.

## `searchName` (type: `string`):

Find LEIs whose legal name contains this text, e.g. "Siemens". Can be combined with country and status filters.

## `country` (type: `string`):

Two-letter country of the legal address, e.g. GB, DE, US.

## `registrationStatus` (type: `string`):

E.g. LAPSED to find LEIs that were not renewed (use with a country to build a remediation list).

## `entityStatus` (type: `string`):

Active or inactive legal entities.

## `maxResults` (type: `integer`):

Cap on rows returned by the search (does not limit the LEI list).

## `includeParents` (type: `boolean`):

Adds the direct and ultimate parent (LEI + name) for each record. Slower: about 2 seconds per LEI.

## `trackChanges` (type: `boolean`):

Schedule this Actor and each row will say whether the LEI is NEW, CHANGED (with the old values) or UNCHANGED since the last run of the same list/search. The first run returns the full list.

## `onlyChanges` (type: `boolean`):

With change tracking on, later runs only output rows that are new or changed (lapsed, renamed, moved, new parent...). Quiet runs output nothing and cost only the start fee.

## `stateKey` (type: `string`):

Give your list a name (e.g. "client-book") to keep its change history when you edit the LEI list. Leave empty to track each list separately.

  ],
  "maxResults": 100,
  "includeParents": true,
  "trackChanges": false,
  "onlyChanges": false
}
```
# Actor output Schema
## `results` (type: `string`):
One current GLEIF record per LEI or search hit (status, renewal date, addresses, company number, parent companies).
## `summary` (type: `string`):
JSON summary: records found, not found, rows output, events charged, change-tracking mode, warnings.
