## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Catawiki Scraper: Auction Lots, Bids & Prices

Scrape **Catawiki auction lots** from any **category or search page**: title, current bid in **EUR, USD and GBP**, reserve status, auction end time, favourites, images and links. Track prices of watches, wine, art, coins, LEGO, classic cars or any other category, and export to **CSV, JSON or Excel**, or use the data via **API**.

*Catawiki veilingen scrapen: kavels, huidige biedingen en eindtijden naar Excel/CSV.*

> Unofficial tool. Not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Catawiki. It collects only publicly visible lot data and no personal data (no seller or bidder information).

### How to use

1. Open Catawiki, go to a **category** (e.g. Watches) or **search** for something (e.g. "rolex"), and copy the URL. Any language version works (`/en/`, `/nl/`, `/de/`, `/fr/`, …).
2. Paste one or more URLs into **Category or search URLs** and set **Maximum number of results**.
3. Click **Start** and download the results as CSV, Excel or JSON, or fetch them via the API.

Example input:

```json
{
    "startUrls": [
        { "url": "https://www.catawiki.com/en/c/333-watches" },
        { "url": "https://www.catawiki.com/en/s?q=lego" }
    ],
    "maxItems": 500,
    "includeBids": true
}
```

### Pricing

You pay per lot returned: **$2.50 per 1,000 lots** ($0.0025 each), plus Apify's tiny per-run start fee. 100 lots cost about **$0.25**. You never pay more than the **Maximum cost per run** you set in the run options.

On the Apify Free plan a run returns at most 100 lots.

### Use cases

- **Price research for collectors and dealers:** see current bids and end times across a whole category.
- **Market monitoring:** schedule a daily run on a category or search to track how many lots are offered and at which prices.
- **Deal hunting:** find lots without a reserve price that end soon with low bids.
- **E-commerce and valuation:** compare Catawiki auction prices with your own listings.
- **Research:** analyse auction activity per category over time.

### Integrations

- **API:** start runs and download results with the [Apify API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2) or the Apify JavaScript/Python clients.
- **Scheduling:** run hourly or daily with Apify Schedules to follow bids as auctions close.
- **Webhooks:** get notified when a run finishes.
- **Google Sheets, Make, Zapier, n8n:** send results to your tools via Apify integrations.
- **AI agents (MCP):** let Claude, ChatGPT or any MCP client query Catawiki lots through the [Apify MCP server](https://mcp.apify.com).

### Limits and FAQ

**Is it legal?** The Actor reads only public category and search pages and the public bid information shown on them, at a polite request rate, and respects Catawiki's robots.txt (category sub-pages and `auction_type`/`lot_id` filter URLs are not supported). It collects no personal data: no seller names or shops, no bidder identities. You are responsible for using the data in line with Catawiki's terms and applicable law, including the GDPR.

**Do I get final hammer prices?** You get the current bid at the moment of scraping and whether the lot is closed. For final prices, schedule a run shortly after the auctions you follow end.

**Why do I get no results for my search?** When Catawiki has no exact matches it shows "related" lots instead; the Actor skips those, so you only pay for real matches.

**How fast is it?** About 1,000–2,000 lots per minute with bids.

**Something broke?** Open an issue on the Issues tab with your input and it will be looked at promptly.

# Actor input Schema

## `startUrls` (type: `array`):

Catawiki category URLs (e.g. https://www.catawiki.com/en/c/333-watches) or search URLs (e.g. https://www.catawiki.com/en/s?q=rolex). Any language version works. Pagination is followed automatically.

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

The run stops after this many lots. You pay per result, so this also caps the cost of a run.

## `includeBids` (type: `boolean`):

Fetch the current bid (EUR, USD, GBP), reserve status, end time and favourites for every lot. Turn off for a faster, lighter run with only titles, links and images.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Optional. Leave as is unless requests start failing.
