## Romania Medicine Prices — Generic Equivalents

Find the **cheaper generic** of any Romanian medicine. Give a commercial/brand name
(e.g. `Nurofen`), an active substance / DCI (e.g. `IBUPROFENUM`), or an ATC code
(e.g. `M01AE01`) and get **every equivalent that shares the same active substance**,
sorted ascending by regulated retail price — so you can spot the cheapest option.

Data comes from two official Romanian sources, joined on the CIM code:

- **ANMDMR Nomenclator** — the national register of authorised medicines (the
  equivalence spine: brand ↔ DCI ↔ ATC).
- **CANAMED** — the Ministry of Health catalogue of national **maximal** prices
  (producer, wholesale ex-VAT, retail incl-VAT) and generic/original status.

Both are free, keyless official files. The newest CANAMED edition is auto-discovered
each run. About 80% of CANAMED-priced products match the nomenclator; nomenclator
entries without a CANAMED price are still returned with `priceRetailInclVat: null`
("price N/A") rather than dropped — many OTC medicines have no regulated price.

before switching medicines. This tool does not sell, recommend or dispense medicine.

One row per equivalent (one per authorised package/CIM), sorted by cheapest retail

`cheaperThanQueryPct` is the % cheaper than the reference product (the matched brand
for a brand query, otherwise the median-priced equivalent). `isGeneric` comes from
CANAMED `stat_anm` (`generic`/`biosimilar` → true, `inovativ`/`original` → false).
