## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Google News Scraper + Full Article Text

Scrape **Google News** search results, topic sections and top headlines for any country and language — with the **real publisher URL** (not Google's redirect link) and the **full article text** extracted and cleaned. Built for AI/LLM pipelines, RAG, media monitoring, PR tracking and market research.

### Why this scraper

- **Real article URLs** — Google News links are encoded redirects; this Actor resolves every one to the actual publisher URL.
- **Full text, cleaned** — article body without menus, ads or cookie banners, plus author, lead image and description.
- **Honest billing** — you pay a small fee per article, and the full-text fee **only when real text was extracted**. Paywall teasers (`textPartial`), blocked publishers and empty searches are free.
- **Any edition** — choose country and language (US, GB, AU, IN, DE, FR, JP…).
- **Google News search operators** — `"exact phrase"`, `OR`, `-exclude`, `site:reuters.com`, `intitle:`.

### Input

| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| `searchQueries` | What you'd type into Google News |
| `topics` | Top stories, World, Business, Technology, Entertainment, Science, Sports, Health, Your country |
| `country`, `language` | Google News edition, e.g. `US` + `en`, `DE` + `de` |
| `timeRange` | Any time, past hour, 24 hours, 7 days or 30 days (search queries) |
| `maxArticles` | Per query/topic, up to 100 |
| `fullText` | Extract article text (on by default); turn off for headlines only |

### Output

```json
{
  "query": "tesla roadster",
  "rank": 1,
  "title": "Tesla Roadster Event: How to Watch & What to Expect",
  "source": "Not a Tesla App",
  "sourceUrl": "https://www.notateslaapp.com",
  "publishedAt": "2026-10-13T18:15:00Z",
  "url": "https://www.notateslaapp.com/news/4818/tesla-roadster-event-...",
  "googleNewsUrl": "https://news.google.com/rss/articles/CBMi...",
  "author": "Nehal Malik",
  "image": "https://...",
  "description": "...",
  "text": "After nearly a decade of waiting, Tesla is finally ready...",
  "textLength": 4701
}
```

If text can't be extracted you get `textError` (e.g. publisher blocked automated access) or `textPartial: true` (paywall teaser) — neither is charged as full text.

### Pricing

Pay per event: one **article** charge per article returned, plus one **full-text** charge only when full article text was extracted.

### FAQ

**How many articles per query?** Google News returns up to 100 per query; split broad topics into several queries for more.
**Paywalled sites?** You get the headline, URL and any free teaser; the full-text fee is not charged.
**Do all articles get full text?** Most news sites do, but some large publishers (e.g. Reuters, Forbes, some newspapers) block all automated access with JavaScript bot checks. For those you still get the title, source, date and real URL, and you are **not** charged the full-text fee. Typical full-text coverage is roughly half to two-thirds of articles, depending on the sources in your results.
