## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Gartner Reviews Scraper

Collect structured software reviews from **Gartner Peer Insights** product pages. Pass one or more product URLs — the Actor resolves the product, paginates the public reviews feed, and writes clean Dataset rows with ratings, headlines, reviewer role, industry, and company size.

### Features

- **Product URLs** — short `/reviews/product/{seo}` or full market/vendor/product paths
- **Batch** — up to 10 products per run via `productUrls` / `startUrls`
- **Sort** — most recent, most helpful, or least recent
- **Star filter** — keep only selected ratings (1–5)
- **Product profile** — description, pricing blurb, vendor, aggregates on the first review of each product
- **Limits** — `maxResults` per product and optional run-wide `resultsWanted`

### Input

| Field | Type | Default | Description |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `productUrls` | array | — | Peer Insights product URLs |
| `productUrl` / `startUrls` | — | — | Aliases for the same sources |
| `maxResults` | integer | `50` | Cap per product (`0` ≈ large batch up to 5000) |
| `resultsWanted` | integer | — | Optional global cap for the whole run |
| `page` | integer | `1` | 1-based start page |
| `sort` | string | `most-recent` | `most-recent` / `most-helpful` / `least-recent` |
| `starRating` | array | — | e.g. `["5","4"]` |
| `proxyConfiguration` | object | — | Residential proxies recommended for production |

#### Example — newest reviews

```json
{
  "productUrls": [
    "https://www.gartner.com/reviews/product/zoom-meetings"
  ],
  "maxResults": 20,
  "sort": "most-recent"
}
```

#### Example — filtered batch

```json
{
  "productUrls": [
    "https://www.gartner.com/reviews/market/meeting-solutions/vendor/zoom/product/zoom-meetings/reviews",
    "https://www.gartner.com/reviews/product/microsoft-teams"
  ],
  "maxResults": 50,
  "sort": "most-helpful",
  "starRating": ["5", "4"]
}
```

### Output

One Dataset item per review:

| Field | Description |
| --- | --- |
| `id` | Review identifier |
| `headline` / `summary` | Title and body text |
| `rating` | 1–5 star rating |
| `date` | Display date from Peer Insights |
| `jobTitle` / `industry` / `companySize` | Reviewer demographics when published |
| `url` | Deep link to the review when market/vendor are known |
| `productId` / `productSeoName` / `productName` | Product identifiers |
| `vendorName` / `marketName` | Vendor and market labels |
| `productData` | Full product profile on the first review of each product; otherwise `null` |
| `scrapedAt` | Scrape timestamp |

### Notes

- Prefer residential proxies for longer runs.
- Field availability depends on what Peer Insights publishes for each product.
