## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Himalayas Jobs Scraper

Pull remote job listings from **Himalayas.app** into a clean Apify Dataset. Uses the platform’s **public JSON jobs API** (no login, no API key). Search by keyword, filter by seniority / employment type / country / category, optionally fetch specific job URLs, and export JSON / CSV / Excel or call via API / schedules / Make / Zapier / n8n.

### Features

- **Keyword search** — multi-keyword runs with automatic deduplication
- **Filters** — seniority, employment type, worldwide vs country, category substring match
- **Job URLs** — resolve individual listings through the public detail endpoint
- **Full description** — HTML description is included in search/browse results (no extra page fetch)
- **Optional webhook** — POST results in batches of 50 when the run finishes
- **Lightweight** — HTTP JSON only; proxy optional

### Input

| Field | Type | Default | Description |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `keywords` | `string[]` | `["software engineer"]` | Search queries; each runs separately and results are merged |
| `jobUrls` | `string[]` | — | Himalayas job page URLs (`/companies/{slug}/jobs/{slug}`) |
| `categories` | `string[]` | — | Keep jobs whose category / parent category contains any term |
| `seniority` | `string[]` | Senior / Mid / Entry | `Entry-level`, `Mid-level`, `Senior`, `Manager`, `Director`, `Executive` |
| `employmentType` | `string` | `Full Time` | Or `Any` / Part Time / Contractor / Temporary / Intern / Volunteer / Other |
| `worldwide` | `boolean` | `true` | Only jobs with no country restrictions |
| `country` | `string` | — | ISO / name / slug when `worldwide` is false |
| `sortBy` | `string` | `recent` | `recent`, `relevant`, `salaryAsc`, `salaryDesc`, `nameAToZ`, `nameZToA` |
| `maxResultsPerKeyword` | `integer` | `100` | Cap per keyword (or browse feed), 1–500 |
| `filterNonTech` | `boolean` | `false` | Drop clearly non-technical roles |
| `webhookUrl` / `webhookSecret` | `string` | — | Optional batch delivery |

### Output

Each Dataset item includes fields such as:

| Field | Description |
| --- | --- |
| `title` | Job title |
| `company_name` / `company_slug` / `company_url` / `company_logo_url` | Company metadata |
| `location` / `location_restrictions` | Worldwide label or country list |
| `salary_min` / `salary_max` / `currency` / `salary_period` | Structured salary when published |
| `tags` / `markets` / `parent_categories` | Skill / category tags |
| `description` | Full HTML description |
| `apply_url` / `source_url` | Apply link and canonical listing URL |
| `employment_type` / `experience_level` / `posted_at` / `expires_at` | Type, seniority, timestamps |

Example:

```json
{
  "id": "senior-backend-engineer-at-acme-corp",
  "title": "Senior Backend Engineer",
  "company_name": "Acme Corp",
  "location": "Worldwide",
  "salary_min": 120000,
  "salary_max": 160000,
  "currency": "USD",
  "salary_period": "annual",
  "tags": ["Software Engineering", "Backend"],
  "apply_url": "https://himalayas.app/companies/acme-corp/jobs/senior-backend-engineer?utm_source=api",
  "source_url": "https://himalayas.app/companies/acme-corp/jobs/senior-backend-engineer",
  "work_mode": "remote",
  "data_source": "Himalayas"
}
```

### Tips

- Prefer specific titles (`react engineer`) over broad terms (`frontend`)
- Use multiple keywords — overlaps are deduplicated by listing GUID
- API pages return up to 20 jobs; 100 results ≈ 5 requests per keyword
- Attribute Himalayas and link back to `source_url` when displaying results

### Limitations

- Max 500 results per keyword per run
- Public rate limits apply; the Actor retries on HTTP 429
- Listings reflect the public remote-jobs feed only

# Actor input Schema

## `keywords` (type: `array`):

Keywords to search (e.g. react engineer, python developer). Each keyword runs a separate search; results are deduplicated. Leave empty to browse the feed (or only use Job URLs).

## `jobUrls` (type: `array`):

Optional Himalayas job page URLs (…/companies/{slug}/jobs/{job-slug}). Fetched via the public job detail API.

## `categories` (type: `array`):

Keep jobs whose category or parent category contains any of these strings (case-insensitive), e.g. Engineering, Design, Marketing.

## `seniority` (type: `array`):

Filter by seniority. Accepted values: Entry-level, Mid-level, Senior, Manager, Director, Executive. Leave empty for all levels.

## `employmentType` (type: `string`):

Filter by employment type. Choose Any for no filter.

## `worldwide` (type: `boolean`):

When enabled, only return jobs open to candidates worldwide (no country restrictions).

## `country` (type: `string`):

Country filter (ISO alpha-2, name, or slug, e.g. US, Germany, spain). Used when Worldwide only is off.

## `sortBy` (type: `string`):

Sort order for keyword search results.

## `maxResultsPerKeyword` (type: `integer`):

Maximum jobs to collect per keyword (or for the browse feed when keywords are empty). Range 1–500. API returns up to 20 jobs per page.

## `filterNonTech` (type: `boolean`):

When enabled, drop clearly non-technical roles (e.g. receptionist, accountant, driver, nurse).

## `webhookUrl` (type: `string`):

Optional URL that receives POST batches of 50 results when the run finishes.

## `webhookSecret` (type: `string`):

If set with Webhook URL, sent as the X-Scraper-Secret request header.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Optional Apify Proxy. Public API usually works without a proxy; enable if you hit rate limits.
