## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Fuel Price Finder: Cheapest Petrol & Diesel Near You

Find the **cheapest petrol, diesel and LPG near any town, address or postcode** in **France, Spain, Italy, the United Kingdom and Western Australia**, straight from the **official price feeds** each country publishes. For each place and fuel you get the **cheapest station** and how far away it is, the **typical and highest price**, the **saving on a full tank**, **brand averages**, the nearest station, and how fresh the prices are. Every station in the radius comes as a CSV too.

No login, no API key, no proxy.

### What does this fuel price scraper do?

```
Milano, Italy · diesel · within 5 km · 125 stations
 cheapest      €1.949 / litre   Api-Ip, 4.0 km away
 typical       €2.399           highest  €2.899
 saving        €22.50 on a 50-litre tank vs the typical price
 by brand      Api-Ip · Agip Eni · Q8 ...
```

1. Enter **places**: "Lyon, France", "SW1A 1AA", "Fremantle WA", or "latitude, longitude".
2. Pick the **fuels** (regular petrol, premium, diesel, LPG, E85, CNG) and a **radius** of 1 to 50 km.
3. The Actor reads the official feed for that country and returns **one report per place and fuel**, plus **every station** with all its prices and distance.

### Who is it for?

- **Fleet managers and logistics companies**: send drivers to the cheapest stations on their routes
- **Drivers, taxi and delivery workers**: fill up where it is cheapest, schedule it daily
- **Fuel retailers**: watch competitors' prices around each of your sites
- **Travel, mapping and car apps**: live fuel prices for a feature or a widget
- **Journalists and analysts**: compare prices across cities and brands

### What data do you get?

**One report per place and fuel** (the dataset):

| Field | What it tells you |
|---|---|
| `cheapestPrice`, `cheapestStation` | The cheapest current price, with station, brand, address, distance and update time |
| `medianPrice`, `averagePrice`, `highestPrice`, `spreadPercent` | What is typical, and how much prices vary |
| `savingPerFullTank50L` | What the cheapest station saves on 50 litres against the typical price |
| `nearestStation`, `cheapestFive` | The closest station, and the five cheapest |
| `brandAverages` | Average price by brand (not in France, whose feed has no brand names) |
| `stationsWithPrice`, `stationsInRadius` | How many stations sell this fuel nearby |
| `localName` | The local fuel name, e.g. E10, Gazole, Gasóleo A, Benzina, B7, ULP |
| `newestPriceAt`, `stalePricesPercent` | How fresh the prices are |

**Every station** (`STATIONS_CSV`): name, brand, address, postcode, coordinates, distance, and each fuel's price and update time. In Italy the attended-service price is included next to the self-service one; in France, fuels that are out of stock.

### Example: five countries, 29 September 2026

One run, **12 reports and 411 stations in 65 seconds**, all within 5 km:

| Place | Fuel | Cheapest | Typical | Saving on 50 L |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Milano, Italy | Diesel | €1.949 | €2.399 | **€22.50** |
| Milano, Italy | Petrol | €1.839 | €2.159 | €16.00 |
| Lyon, France | Petrol (E10) | €1.990 | €2.229 | €11.95 |
| Madrid, Spain | Diesel | €1.829 | €1.999 | €8.50 |
| London SW1A 1AA | Petrol (E10) | £1.739 | £1.739 | £0 |
| Fremantle, WA | Petrol (ULP) | A$2.215 | A$2.399 | A$9.20 |

Around central London the cheapest and typical price were the same; around Milan the gap on one tank of diesel was €22.50.

### Where the prices come from

| Country | Official source | How fresh |
|---|---|---|
| **France** | data.economie.gouv.fr, instant fuel price feed | Updated through the day |
| **Spain** | Ministry for the Ecological Transition, station price service | Updated through the day |
| **Italy** | MIMIT "prezzi alle 8" open data | The previous day's prices |
| **United Kingdom** | Retailer feeds published under the CMA fuel price scheme (Asda, Esso, JET, Morrisons, Moto, Motor Fuel Group, SGN, Shell, Tesco and others) | Varies by retailer |
| **Western Australia** | FuelWatch | Today's fixed prices |

### Pricing

**$0.01 per fuel report** (one place, one fuel) and **$0.001 per station** saved.

Petrol and diesel for one place with 40 stations nearby costs **$0.06**. The five-country run above cost **$0.53** with all 411 stations.

### Good to know

- **Five areas only**: France, Spain, Italy, the United Kingdom and Western Australia. Other places are reported as not covered.
- **Stale prices cannot win.** Some UK retailer feeds have not been updated for months. Any price older than 7 days is counted in `stalePricesPercent` and is never shown as the cheapest.
- **UK coverage depends on retailers.** Only retailers who publish a feed appear; the run summary lists any feed that did not answer.
- **Italy** reports self-service prices where a station offers them, with the attended price alongside.
- **France's feed has no brand names**, so French stations are identified by address.
- **Place names** are looked up on OpenStreetMap; add the country to short names ("Lyon, France").

### Input

| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| **Places** | Towns, addresses, postcodes, or "latitude, longitude" |
| **Fuels** | Regular petrol, premium petrol, diesel, LPG, E85 (France), CNG (Spain, Italy) |
| **Radius (km)** | 1 to 50 |
| **Also save every station** | Adds the stations file; charged per station |

### Integrations

Export to JSON, CSV, Excel or Google Sheets, or connect through the Apify API, webhooks, Make, Zapier and n8n. **Schedule it every morning** to send your team the cheapest stations near each depot.
