## Pricing

from $0.25 / 1,000 domains

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

**Check the domain authority (DA), page authority (PA) and spam score of up to 100,000 domains or URLs in one run.** Paste a list, get a clean table back in seconds, and optionally add each domain's backlink and referring-domain counts. No Moz, Ahrefs or Semrush subscription needed. Built by Precision Labs.

### What it does

- **Domain authority** for every domain: a 0–100 score of how strong the site is, from the links pointing at it.
- **Page authority** for every URL you enter: the same score for that one page.
- **Spam score** for every domain: how spammy its backlink profile looks, 0–100.
- **Backlinks and referring domains** for every domain, if you turn on **Include backlink and referring-domain counts**.

Domains are checked in batches of 1,000, so even large lists finish in a minute or two.

### Who it's for

- **Link builders and SEOs** vetting outreach prospects, guest-post sites or link vendors.
- **Domain investors** screening expired or for-sale domains before buying.
- **Agencies** comparing a client with its competitors.
- **AI agents and automations** (n8n, Make, Zapier, MCP clients) that need domain authority through an API.

### How to use it

1. Paste your **Domains or URLs**, one per line: `example.com` for a site, or a full URL for a page.
2. Click **Start**. Download the results as JSON, CSV or Excel, or get them through the API.

### Pricing

You pay per domain, with no subscription, and prices drop on Apify's paid plans.

| Event           | Free    | Starter  | Scale   | Business | When                                                                                                             |
| --------------- | ------- | -------- | ------- | -------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `domain-result` | $0.0005 | $0.00045 | $0.0004 | $0.00025 | Each domain or URL checked.                                                                                      |
| `data-request`  | $0.075  | $0.075   | $0.075  | $0.075   | One bulk lookup. Each batch of up to 1,000 domains takes two, or four with backlink and referring-domain counts. |

| Example                        | Free  | Starter | Scale | Business |
| ------------------------------ | ----- | ------- | ----- | -------- |
| 1 to 10 domains                | $0.15 | $0.15   | $0.15 | $0.15    |
| 1,000 domains                  | $0.65 | $0.60   | $0.55 | $0.40    |
| 1,000 domains with link counts | $0.80 | $0.75   | $0.70 | $0.55    |
| 10,000 domains                 | $6.50 | $6.00   | $5.50 | $4.00    |

**Never charged:** entries that aren't domains or URLs, entries the data provider rejects (such as an unknown domain ending), and domains DataForSEO has no record of. One rejected entry doesn't affect the rest of the list. A domain with no links at all is still a result (domain authority 0) and is charged like any other. **No request fee** when you repeat a lookup within the same week: the results come from your own Apify storage. Set **Maximum cost per run** and the Actor checks only as many domains as that budget covers.

### Input

| Field                                            | What it does                                                                                     |
| ------------------------------------------------ | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| **Domains or URLs** | Up to 100,000, one per line. URLs also get page authority. |
| **Include backlink and referring-domain counts** | Adds each domain's backlinks and referring domains. Off by default; adds two requests per 1,000. |

Example input through the API:

```json
{
    "targets": ["backlinko.com", "https://backlinko.com/seo-checklist", "budgetbytes.com"],
    "linkCounts": true
}
```

### Output

One row per domain or URL (real data, October 2026):

```json
{
    "type": "domain",
    "input": "https://backlinko.com/seo-checklist",
    "domain": "backlinko.com",
    "url": "https://backlinko.com/seo-checklist",
    "domainAuthority": 70,
    "pageAuthority": 34,
    "spamScore": 2,
    "backlinks": 337051,
    "referringDomains": 61537,
    "referringMainDomains": 57611,
    "fetchedAt": "2026-10-26T12:00:00.000Z"
}
```

Entries that were rejected or have no data get a free row with `"type": "error"` and the reason.

### FAQ

#### Is this Moz Domain Authority?

No. Domain Authority is Moz's own metric, and Domain Rating is Ahrefs'. This Actor returns DataForSEO's domain rank, a 0–100 score that is also computed from the links pointing at a site. Scores land in a similar range but don't match Moz's or Ahrefs' numbers exactly. Use them to compare domains with each other, all scored the same way.

#### Where does the data come from?

From DataForSEO's backlink index, through the DataForSEO API. This Actor isn't affiliated with, or endorsed by, DataForSEO, Moz, Ahrefs, or any site named in the examples. Those examples are real output for public websites, used only to show what the data looks like.

#### Why does a domain have authority 0?

DataForSEO has found no links pointing at it. That's common for new, parked and expired domains.

#### Why is the page authority 0 for a URL?

DataForSEO scores the exact URL you enter, so `https://www.example.com/page` and `https://example.com/page` can differ. Use the form the site actually serves.

#### Do I need a Moz, Ahrefs or DataForSEO account?

No. You only need an Apify account.

#### Why is there a new storage in my account?

The Actor keeps this week's lookups in a key-value store called `precisionlabs-domain-authority-checker-cache` in your own account, so repeating a lookup skips the request fee. You can delete it at any time.

#### Something looks wrong?

Open an issue on the **Issues** tab with the domains you checked, and we'll look into it.

One per line, up to 100,000. A domain such as <code>example.com</code> gets its domain authority and spam score. A full URL such as <code>https://example.com/blog/post</code> also gets that page's page authority.

## `linkCounts` (type: `boolean`):

Also return each domain's number of backlinks and referring domains. Adds two requests per 1,000 domains.
