## Pricing

Pay per event

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Google News Scraper — News API & News Data with Full Text

Get **news articles from Google News** for any search, topic or date range, in **58 country editions**: title, source, publication date, the **real article URL** (not just the Google redirect), and the other outlets covering the same story. Turn on one option to also get the **full article text**, word count, author, description and main image, ready for AI, sentiment analysis or media monitoring.

No browser: a search of 50 articles takes about 8 seconds. Google News shows about 100 articles per search; set a date range and the Actor searches **day by day** to get hundreds or thousands.

**A News API alternative without a monthly plan**: you only pay for the articles you get.

### Who uses it

- **Media monitoring and PR**: every article mentioning a brand, a CEO or a competitor, every day.
- **Finance and research**: news about tickers, companies and sectors, with dates, for signals and backtests.
- **AI and RAG pipelines**: fresh full-text articles to summarize, classify or feed to an LLM.
- **Content and SEO teams**: what is trending in a niche and who publishes it.
- **Developers and AI agents**: a simple news API with real URLs.

### What you get

| Data | Field |
|---|---|
| Title, source and source website | `title`, `source`, `sourceUrl` |
| Publication date (UTC) | `publishedAt` |
| Real article URL and Google News link | `url`, `googleNewsUrl` |
| Other coverage of the same story (topics) | `relatedArticles[]` |
| Full text and word count (option) | `text`, `wordCount` |
| Author, description, main image, language (option) | `author`, `description`, `imageUrl`, `language` |
| Search, topic, position and edition | `query`, `topic`, `position`, `edition` |

### How to use

1. Add **search queries**, one per line. Google News operators work: `"exact phrase"`, `OR`, `-word`, `site:reuters.com`, `intitle:tesla`.
2. Or pick **topics**: Top stories, World, Business, Technology, Sports, Science, Health...
3. Choose the **country and language** edition, and optionally **Published within** (last hour, day, week...) or exact **dates**.
4. Set **Max articles per search**. With dates, ask for more than 100 and the Actor searches day by day.
5. Turn on **Full article text** if you need the content.
6. Run, then download as JSON, CSV or Excel, or get the results through the API.

### Input example

```json
{
  "queries": ["openai", "\"electric vehicles\" site:reuters.com"],
  "edition": "US:en",
  "dateFrom": "-7",
  "maxArticlesPerQuery": 500,
  "decodeUrls": true,
  "extractText": true
}
```

### Output example

```json
{
  "type": "article",
  "query": "climate change",
  "position": 1,
  "title": "Mount Hood's missing snow worries scientists",
  "source": "Oregon Public Broadcasting - OPB",
  "sourceUrl": "https://www.opb.org",
  "publishedAt": "2026-10-16T18:02:11Z",
  "url": "https://www.opb.org/article/2026/10/16/mount-hood-snow-climate/",
  "googleNewsUrl": "https://news.google.com/rss/articles/CBMi...",
  "author": "April Ehrlich",
  "description": "The peak has looked more like a large, gray rock than a glacier-topped mountain.",
  "imageUrl": "https://static.opb.org/mount-hood.jpg",
  "language": "en",
  "wordCount": 1035,
  "text": "A towering white Mount Hood has long defined Portland's eastern skyline...",
  "textAvailable": true,
  "edition": "US:en",
  "status": "ok"
}
```

Values in this example are illustrative.

### Pricing

Pay per event: a small fee per run, a fee per article, and a fee per article whose full text was read. Bigger Apify plans pay less. See the **Pricing** tab for exact prices on your plan.

Set a maximum cost per run in the run options and the Actor stops before going over it. Searches that find nothing, and articles whose text can't be read (paywalls), are never charged for text.

### Good to know

- Google News keeps search results for recent years. Each feed holds about 100 articles, so dates are what lets you go further.
- Full text comes from the publisher's page. Paywalled or bot-protected sites (some business newspapers) return `textAvailable: false`.
- Dates are in UTC. The same article is never returned twice for one search.

### Use it with

- **AI agents and MCP**: add this Actor as a tool through the Apify MCP server (Claude, Cursor, ChatGPT and other MCP clients), LangChain, LlamaIndex or CrewAI.
- **No-code automation**: n8n, Make and Zapier, for example a daily brand-mention digest to Slack or email.
- **Spreadsheets and dashboards**: Google Sheets, Excel, Looker Studio.
- **Developers**: the Apify API, Python and JavaScript clients, webhooks and scheduled runs.
