## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Canada Product Recall and Safety Alert Monitor

Monitor the Government of Canada's official English open dataset across food, consumer products, drugs, medical devices, cannabis, and vehicles. The source uses one consistent headline-level schema, so this Actor preserves its English fields without inventing product-level details that the feed does not publish.

Filter by exact organization, category, update date (`updatedFrom`/`updatedThrough`), archive status, or keywords across the title, product, issue, action, and category fields. The source `Category` string is preserved as `category`; a selected category also matches a component separated by the source's `-` convention. In monitor mode, a named key-value store (`stateStoreName`) persists across runs. The first run establishes a filter-specific baseline; later runs emit only new or semantically changed notices. Set a distinct `stateKey` for each independent watchlist. Records blocked by a charge limit remain eligible next time; `baselineOnly` intentionally stores the current baseline without emitting it.

```json
{"organizations":["CFIA"],"categories":["Food"],"keywords":["allergen"],"updatedFrom":"2026-01-01","archiveStatus":"active","maxResults":250,"monitorMode":true,"firstRunBehavior":"emit","stateKey":"food-compliance"}
```

Output includes the stable `noticeId`, all English source fields, `archived`, `changeType`, `changedFields`, observation time, and official URL. `RUN_SUMMARY` records counts and truncation in the default key-value store. The daily feed is downloaded as one JSON array; source-side cursor pagination is not available. The Actor rejects responses above 25 MB before parsing. Use filters and `maxResults` to bound output. A failed or malformed download fails the run and leaves the prior baseline intact.

The feed provides notice-level summaries. Follow `sourceUrl` for affected lots, models, geographic scope, and detailed instructions. Absence from results is not proof of safety or recall closure.

### Pricing

Pay per event: $0.01 per run start plus $0.0025 per delivered notice. Platform usage is included. In monitor mode, runs that find no new or changed notices are charged only the start event.
