## Pricing

from $3.00 / 1,000 website checkeds

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Bulk Website Tech Stack, SSL Expiry & Security Headers Checker

**Detect what any website is built with, and check its health, in one run.** For each URL you get:

- 🧩 **Tech stack** from 7,600+ technology fingerprints: CMS, ecommerce platform, analytics, CDN, hosting, JS frameworks, marketing and payment tools, all with versions and categories
- 🟢 **Uptime and HTTP status**: response time, final URL, redirect chain, and whether HTTP redirects to HTTPS
- 🔒 **SSL/TLS certificate**: issuer, valid-from/valid-to dates, **days until expiry**, protocol (TLS 1.2/1.3), SANs, and any verification error (expired, self-signed, hostname mismatch)
- 🛡️ **Security-headers grade** from A+ to F, covering HSTS, Content-Security-Policy, X-Frame-Options, X-Content-Type-Options, Referrer-Policy and Permissions-Policy, plus the headers that are missing and any **version-leaking headers**
- 🏷️ **Page title, meta description, language and generator** tag
- ☁️ **SaaS tools the company uses**, read from public DNS verification records (Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Atlassian, HubSpot, Zoom …)

The tool makes **one polite request per site** and does no crawling or headless browsing. That makes it fast and much cheaper than browser-based tech-stack scrapers. It is a **Wappalyzer / BuiltWith alternative** built on the open-source webappanalyzer fingerprint set.

### Use cases

- **Sales prospecting.** Qualify accounts by stack before outreach: who runs Shopify Plus, HubSpot, Salesforce or an outdated WordPress version.
- **Lead generation.** Find every Shopify, WooCommerce, Wix or WordPress site in a list, or every site without Google Analytics, a CDN or HTTPS.
- **Web agencies.** Run a quick audit for each prospect: outdated CMS, a weak security grade, or an SSL certificate about to expire.
- **SSL expiry monitoring.** Schedule weekly runs and get alerts before certificates lapse.
- **Competitive and market research.** Measure technology market share across thousands of domains.
- **Security and IT.** Check a domain portfolio for missing HSTS or CSP, old TLS, and version-leaking servers.

### Pricing: pay per result, nothing else

This Actor uses Apify **pay-per-event** pricing, so the price is simple and predictable:

| You pay | When |
|---|---|
| **$0.003 per website** ($3 per 1,000) | Once for each website that returns a result (event `site-checked`). Every charged row in the dataset has `"charged": true`. |
| $0.00005 per run | Apify's standard Actor-start fee. |
| **$0** | Invalid inputs (not a URL or domain) and unexpected errors. An unreachable site is charged, because the uptime, DNS and SSL checks ran and `isUp: false` is the answer you asked for. |

There are **no platform-usage fees on top** of the event price: compute, storage and traffic are included.

| Run size | Cost |
|---|---|
| 100 websites | $0.30 |
| 1,000 websites | $3.00 |
| 10,000 websites | $30.00 |
| 100,000 websites | $300.00 |

**Control your spend.** Set **Max cost per run** (Run options → "Maximum cost per run", or `maxTotalChargeUsd` in the API). The Actor checks your remaining budget before every website, stops cleanly when the limit is reached and never charges beyond it. The status message tells you how many websites were left unprocessed.

**Try it free.** Apify's free plan includes $5 of monthly credit, enough for about 1,666 websites. One price covers the tech stack, uptime, SSL and security headers.

### FAQ

**How accurate is the tech detection?** It matches headers, cookies, HTML, script URLs, meta tags, DOM selectors and DNS against the community-maintained Wappalyzer-format fingerprints. Technologies that only reveal themselves when JavaScript runs (for example some single-page-app libraries) can be missed, because no browser is used. That trade-off is what keeps it fast and cheap.

**A site returned 403 or 429. Is it down?** No. `isUp` is true because the server answered. Some sites block automated requests, and their tech stack is then detected from headers, cookies and DNS only.

**What is the `charged` field?** It is `true` on every row you paid for, so the bill always matches the dataset. Rows for invalid inputs are delivered with an `error` and are free.

**Can AI agents use it?** Yes. It runs with limited permissions and per-result pricing, so it works through the Apify API, the Apify MCP server and other AI-agent integrations.

**Does it crawl my whole site?** No. It fetches only the URL you give, plus `http://` to test the HTTPS redirect, and makes one TLS handshake.

**What does `companySaasFromDns` mean?** These are services detected from public DNS (mostly domain-verification TXT records). They describe tools the *company* uses, not technology on the website itself.
