## Pricing

from $0.80 / 1,000 image converteds

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Bulk Image Converter & Compressor - WebP, AVIF, JPEG, Resize

Convert and compress **hundreds of images in one run**: to **WebP, AVIF, JPEG or PNG**, resized to a maximum width or height, with **EXIF and GPS data removed**. Every converted file gets a download link, and the table shows how many bytes you saved.

- **Smaller pages, faster sites.** A photo converted to WebP at quality 80 is often 60-80% lighter with no visible difference: a 897 KB JPEG became a 229 KB WebP in the example below.
- **Resize safely.** Set a max width and/or height: images are scaled down to fit, proportions are kept, and small images are never enlarged.
- **Privacy by default.** Camera details, GPS position and author fields are removed, and the EXIF orientation is applied so photos stay upright.
- **All common formats in.** JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF (first frame), TIFF and SVG, up to 30 MB and 40 megapixels per image. iPhone HEIC photos are not supported.
- **Cheap.** **$1 per 1,000 images.** Failed downloads and unsupported files are not charged.

### What can I use it for?

- **E-commerce and CMS migrations:** convert a product catalog to WebP before importing it into Shopify, WooCommerce or a headless CMS.
- **Website speed (Core Web Vitals):** shrink the heavy images found by an SEO audit.
- **Privacy:** strip the GPS position from photos before publishing them.
- **Pipelines:** resize images for thumbnails, newsletters or AI vision models (smaller images cost fewer tokens).

### Input

```json
{
    "images": ["https://raw.githubusercontent.com/naptha/tesseract.js/master/benchmarks/data/meditations.jpg"],
    "format": "webp",
    "quality": 80,
    "maxWidth": 1600,
    "keepMetadata": false
}
```

### Output

One row per image, and the converted files in the run's key-value store. Example from a real run:

```json
{
    "url": "https://raw.githubusercontent.com/naptha/tesseract.js/master/benchmarks/data/meditations.jpg",
    "outputUrl": "https://api.apify.com/v2/key-value-stores/<store-id>/records/image-00000.webp?signature=<signature>",
    "key": "image-00000.webp",
    "inputFormat": "jpeg",
    "format": "webp",
    "width": 1600,
    "height": 2485,
    "inputWidth": 1955,
    "inputHeight": 3036,
    "inputBytes": 896733,
    "outputBytes": 228890,
    "savedPercent": 74.5,
    "metadataRemoved": true,
    "error": null
}
```

`outputUrl` is a signed link: it opens without an Apify login. In Apify Console, the Overview tab shows the converted images directly in the table.

**Good to know:** for simple black-and-white graphics or screenshots, PNG can already be smaller than WebP. `savedPercent` is then negative: keep the original, or choose `png`.

### Pricing

**$0.001 per image converted ($1 per 1,000 images)** plus Apify's small run-start fee. No subscription, lower prices on higher Apify plans. Invalid URLs, failed downloads and unsupported files are free.

### Use it from AI agents (MCP)

Add `image-converter` to the [Apify MCP server](https://mcp.apify.com) in your MCP client (Claude, Cursor, VS Code...).

### Integrations

Apify API, schedules, webhooks, Make, Zapier, n8n. Export the results table as JSON, CSV or Excel; the files stay in the run's key-value store for your Apify plan's data retention period.

# Actor input Schema

## `images` (type: `array`):

Public URLs of images (JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, TIFF, SVG), one per line, up to 30 MB each. iPhone HEIC photos are not supported. Duplicates are removed.

## `format` (type: `string`):

WebP is the best default for the web. AVIF is smaller but slower to encode. PNG for logos and screenshots that need exact pixels.

## `quality` (type: `integer`):

1-100. 75-85 keeps photos visually identical while saving most of the weight. Ignored for PNG except below 100 (palette compression).

## `maxWidth` (type: `integer`):

Optional. Bigger images are scaled down to fit, keeping their proportions. Smaller images are never enlarged.

## `maxHeight` (type: `integer`):

Optional. Same as max width, for the height.

## `keepMetadata` (type: `boolean`):

Off by default: camera details, GPS position and author fields are removed, which protects privacy and saves space.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "images": [
    "https://raw.githubusercontent.com/naptha/tesseract.js/master/benchmarks/data/meditations.jpg"
  ],
  "format": "webp",
  "quality": 80,
  "keepMetadata": false
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `results` (type: `string`):

One row per image: download link of the converted file, format, size in pixels and bytes before and after, saving in %.
