## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## FMCSA New Carrier Leads – New Trucking Companies with Email, Phone & Owner Name

Every weekday, **300 to 500 new trucking companies** get a USDOT number from FMCSA. In their first weeks they shop for truck insurance, factoring, an ELD, a dispatcher, fuel cards, IFTA and permit help. The vendor that reaches them first usually gets the deal. The ones that call later hear "already sorted".

This Actor gives you those new carriers straight from **FMCSA's official Company Census File** (data.transportation.gov, updated daily) as clean JSON, CSV or Excel.

**Test run on 28 Oct 2026: 1,877 carriers registered in the previous 7 days, pulled in 30 seconds. All 1,877 had an email address and a phone number on file. 1,338 were for-hire.** Top states: Texas 213, California 178, Florida 166.

No login, no FMCSA account, no proxies, no CAPTCHAs.

### What one row looks like (contact details masked here)

```json
{
  "dotNumber": "0000000",
  "legalName": "EXAMPLE TRANSPORT LLC",
  "addedDate": "2026-10-27",
  "status": "Active",
  "email": "owner@example.com",
  "phone": "(555) 010-0000",
  "companyOfficer1": "JANE DOE",
  "city": "CONCORD",
  "state": "NC",
  "zip": "28025-4374",
  "operation": "Interstate",
  "operationClasses": [
    "Authorized For Hire"
  ],
  "isForHire": true,
  "powerUnits": 1,
  "totalDrivers": 4,
  "cargoTypes": [
    "Other"
  ],
  "safer_url": "https://safer.fmcsa.dot.gov/query.asp?searchtype=ANY&query_type=queryCarrierSnapshot&query_param=USDOT&query_string=0000000"
}
```

Every row also includes `dbaName`, `companyOfficer2`, mailing address, `trucks`, `cdlDrivers`, `fleetSizeBand`, `hazmat`, `entityType`, `daysSinceAdded` and `dunsNumber` where filed.

### Who uses it

- **Commercial truck insurance agents**: new authorities need insurance filed before they can haul. Filter `forHireOnly` + `operation: Interstate`.
- **Freight factoring companies**: new owner-operators (`maxPowerUnits: 1`) are short on cash flow from load one.
- **ELD, fleet software, fuel card and dispatch services**: reach fleets before they pick a vendor.
- **Compliance and permit services**: BOC-3, UCR, IFTA, drug and alcohol programs.
- **Freight brokers**: build a capacity list of new carriers in your lanes (`states`, `cargoTypes`).
- **AI agents**: works as a tool through Apify MCP. Ask "new for-hire carriers in Texas hauling refrigerated food this week".

### Input

| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| `addedWithinDays` | Default 7. Use `1` on a daily schedule for only the newest registrations. |
| `states` | e.g. `TX`, `CA`, `FL` |
| `forHireOnly` | Only carriers authorized for hire |
| `operation` | Interstate, Intrastate Hazmat, Intrastate Non-Hazmat |
| `minPowerUnits` / `maxPowerUnits` | Fleet size. `maxPowerUnits: 1` = owner-operators |
| `cargoTypes` | General Freight, Refrigerated Food, Household Goods, Building Materials, Motor Vehicles and 25 more |
| `hazmatOnly`, `requireEmail`, `requirePhone`, `activeOnly` | Extra filters |
| `maxItems` | Hard cap on rows (and on cost) |

### Daily lead feed in 2 minutes

1. Set your filters and `addedWithinDays: 1`.
2. Add a **Schedule** (daily).
3. Send the dataset to **Google Sheets, HubSpot, a CRM webhook, Slack or email** with Apify integrations. Each day's run holds only that day's new carriers.

### Pricing

**$3 per 1,000 carriers** (pay per result) plus a small platform usage fee. A full week of new US carriers (about 1,900) costs about $5.70. Lead lists of new DOT numbers sold elsewhere usually come as monthly subscriptions. Here you pay only for the rows you pull.

### FAQ

**Where does the data come from?** FMCSA's public Company Census File on data.transportation.gov (US DOT open data). We are not affiliated with FMCSA or US DOT.

**Is the email verified?** It is the email the carrier filed with FMCSA. We don't change it or guess it.

**Is it legal to contact these carriers?** The data is public. You are responsible for following CAN-SPAM, TCPA and do-not-call rules when you contact anyone.

**Why do weekend days have fewer rows?** FMCSA processes most registrations on weekdays.
