Kraken publishes a public ticker, but its own asset codes are the catch: Bitcoin is `XBT`, not `BTC`, and pairs come back as `XXBTZUSD`. This Actor takes the pair the way you write it, reads the public ticker, and returns one structured record: last trade, best bid and ask, 24h high, low and volume, and the day opening price.

### What it does

- Returns **one record per requested pair**, in order. A pair Kraken does not list comes back with `status: "failed"` and a reason.
- Handles **Kraken's asset codes for you**. Send `BTC/USD` and the Actor resolves it to Kraken's own pair name, keeping your input in `requested` and Kraken's in `symbol`.
- Carries the **day opening price** next to the 24h window, which is the reference Kraken's own interface shows.
- Quotes most pairs in **USD and EUR**, not just USDT, so fiat pairs work directly.
- Needs **no API key**. The public ticker is unsigned.
- Stamps every record with `validFrom`, Kraken's own exchange time for that tick.

#### Does the Kraken API need an API key?

Account and trading endpoints do. The public ticker does not, which is what this Actor reads.

#### Why does Kraken call Bitcoin XBT?

XBT is the ISO-style code for Bitcoin and Kraken uses it internally. You can send `BTC` and the Actor resolves it, then reports Kraken's own name in `symbol`.

#### Is this the real-time Kraken price?

It is the last trade Kraken published at `validFrom`, read live on each run. It is not a stream, so for tick-by-tick data use a websocket. For a price every minute or every hour, schedule the Actor.

#### Does it return Kraken candles or historical prices?

No. Each record is the current ticker. To build a series, schedule the Actor and let the dataset accumulate one row per pair per run, each stamped with `validFrom`.

#### Can I price in EUR or GBP?

Yes, for the pairs Kraken lists in that fiat. Kraken quotes far more fiat pairs than the USDT-only venues, so `ETH/EUR` works directly.
