## Pricing

from $1.00 / 1,000 grants

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

This Actor reads GOV.UK **Find a grant**, the UK government's list of open grant schemes, and returns one record per scheme: funder, minimum and maximum award, total funding pot, who can apply, where, when applications open and close, and the full eligibility, objectives and how-to-apply text.

### What it does

- Returns **one record per open scheme**: 116 when this was verified.
- **Filters at the source**: keyword, who can apply, location, award band and the date a scheme was added, plus the site's own sort orders.
- Reads each scheme's page for the **summary, eligibility, objectives, dates, how to apply and supporting information**, and the official apply link.
- Needs **no API key**.

### Use cases

| You need to | How this Actor does it |
| --- | --- |
| Find grants your organisation can apply for | Set who can apply and location, read eligibility |
| Track new schemes | Set "Date added from" and schedule the run |
| Build a grant-alert product | Run daily, diff on `grantId` and `updatedAt` |
| Size the funding available in a sector | Search a keyword and sum `totalAwardAmount` |
| Feed a grant-writing agent | Call the Actor over MCP and pass the eligibility text to the model |

### Input

| Field | Type | Default | What it controls |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `keyword` | string | empty | Search run by Find a grant |
| `applicantTypes` | array | empty | `individual`, `public sector`, `private sector`, `non profit`, `local authority` |
| `locations` | array | empty | `international`, `national`, `england`, the English regions, `scotland`, `wales`, `northern ireland` |
| `amountBands` | array | empty | `under-10k`, `10k-50k`, `50k-250k`, `250k-1m`, `1m-5m`, `5m-plus` |
| `addedFrom` / `addedTo` | date | empty | Date the scheme was added to Find a grant |
| `sortBy` | string | site default | `openingDate`, `closingDate`, `maxValue`, `minValue` |
| `fetchDetails` | boolean | `true` | Reads each scheme page for the full text |
| `maxItems` | integer | `500` | Caps how many schemes are returned, and so the cost |

```json
{
    "applicantTypes": ["non profit"],
    "locations": ["scotland"],
    "maxItems": 50
}
```

### Output

| Field group | Fields |
| --- | --- |
| Identity | `grantId`, `label`, `grantUrl`, `applyUrl` |
| Scheme | `grantName`, `funder`, `shortDescription` |
| Money (pounds) | `minimumAward`, `maximumAward`, `totalAwardAmount` and their display strings |
| Who and where | `applicantTypes`, `locations` |
| Dates | `openDate`, `closeDate`, `createdAt`, `updatedAt` |
| Full text | `summary`, `eligibility`, `objectives`, `dates`, `howToApply`, `supportingInformation` |

```json
{
    "grantName": "Trees, woodlands and forestry - Woodland Creation Planning Grant",
    "funder": "Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs / Forestry Commission – Defra Trees Programme",
    "minimumAward": 1500,
    "maximumAward": 30500,
    "totalAwardAmount": 708607,
    "applicantTypes": ["Personal / Individual", "Public Sector", "Non-profit", "Private Sector"],
    "openDate": "2015-12-01T00:01",
    "closeDate": "2030-04-01T00:00",
    "grantUrl": "https://www.find-government-grants.service.gov.uk/grants/trees-woodlands-and-forestry---woodland-creation-planning-grant-1"
}
```

### Coverage and limits

- Some schemes publish a placeholder closing date (the woodland grant above states its 2030 date is when funding is confirmed until, not a deadline). Dates are returned as published.

### Pricing

Pay per event: one `grant-scraper` event per scheme written to the dataset. The optional schema.org block is charged once per run.

# Actor input Schema

## `keyword` (type: `string`):

Search run by Find a grant. Example: 'woodland' (4 schemes when verified). Leave empty for every open scheme — 116 when verified.

## `applicantTypes` (type: `array`):

Keeps schemes open to any of these applicant types, filtered by Find a grant.

## `locations` (type: `array`):

Keeps schemes covering any of these locations, filtered by Find a grant.

## `amountBands` (type: `array`):

Keeps schemes whose maximum award falls in any of these bands, filtered by Find a grant.

## `addedFrom` (type: `string`):

Keeps schemes added to Find a grant on or after this date (YYYY-MM-DD).

## `addedTo` (type: `string`):

Keeps schemes added on or before this date (YYYY-MM-DD).

## `sortBy` (type: `string`):

Order of results, as Find a grant sorts them. Leave empty for the site's default.

## `fetchDetails` (type: `boolean`):

Reads each scheme's page for the summary, eligibility, objectives, dates, how to apply and supporting information, plus the apply link.

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Caps how many schemes are written to the dataset, and so caps the cost. Set to 0 for everything matched.

## `schemaOrg` (type: `boolean`):

Appends a `schemaOrg` object to every record, mapping it to schema.org (MonetaryGrant). Charged once per run, not per record.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "fetchDetails": true,
  "maxItems": 500,
  "schemaOrg": false
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `results` (type: `string`):

Projects matched by the run, one item per record, in the default dataset.
