## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

## Etsy Search Scraper — Keyword, Market & Category Listings

Live Etsy search results as clean rows. Give it keywords, `/market/` phrases or category URLs and get every listing on the first N pages: listing id and URL, title, price and currency, rating, review count, Bestseller / Popular now / Star Seller / Etsy's Pick badges, free shipping, whether the slot was an ad, the shop name, and the exact rank position per page.

### What you get

One row per listing per input, in the order Etsy showed them:

| field | example |
|---|---|
| `query`, `surface`, `page`, `position` | `ceramic mug`, `search`, `1`, `3` |
| `listing_id`, `url`, `title` | `4296141840`, `https://www.etsy.com/listing/4296141840/...`, `Coffee Mug - KJ Pottery` |
| `price`, `currency` | `57.0`, `$` |
| `rating_value`, `review_count`, `review_count_approx` | `4.9`, `3800`, `true` (Etsy showed "3.8k") |
| `bestseller`, `popular_now`, `star_seller`, `etsys_pick`, `free_shipping` | booleans |
| `is_ad` | `true` / `false` / `null` (unknown on that surface) |
| `shop_name`, `shop_id`, `shop_url` | `KJPottery`, `7825028`, `https://www.etsy.com/shop/KJPottery` |

Up to 20 pages per input (Etsy's own cap). This version returns the 12 fully rendered listings per search page; a coming version adds the remaining lazy-loaded listings per page.

### Inputs

- **Search keywords** — each keyword lands on Etsy's `/market/` page, then pages through Etsy's own search API.
- **Market phrases** — Etsy's `/market/` pages; any phrase resolves. Supports Etsy's filters (bestsellers, Star Sellers, free shipping, on sale, digital, ship-to country).
- **Category URLs** — e.g. `https://www.etsy.com/c/jewelry/necklaces`.

### Proxy and pricing

Works out of the box on **Apify residential proxy** (default: `useApifyProxy: true`, `apifyProxyGroups: ['RESIDENTIAL']`). Apify bills residential proxy usage to your Apify account — **no proxy markup** on our PPE. Or plug in your own residential proxy if you prefer. Plain datacenter egress is often challenged by Etsy.

If a page is challenged, the run reports `blocked_on_your_proxy` for that path and **that page is not charged**. You pay `actor-start` ($0.005) plus one `listing-row` event per listing delivered ($0.006, i.e. $6 per 1,000). Nothing else.

### Limits and honesty

- `review_count` is exact when Etsy shows an exact number and rounded (flagged `review_count_approx`) when Etsy shows "3.8k".
- `is_ad` comes from Etsy's own result-slot list; where a surface has none it is `null`, not guessed.
- Results reflect what Etsy shows a logged-out visitor from the proxy region's egress.

### Want sales over time, not a snapshot?

Our companion Actor **Etsy Shop Sales Tracker** serves daily shop sales counters with history and breakout flags from a hosted panel — no proxy needed.

# Actor input Schema

## `queries` (type: `array`):

Keywords to search, one per line (e.g. ceramic mug). Each keyword lands on Etsy's /market page, then pages through Etsy's own search API (12 full listing rows per page in this version).

## `marketPhrases` (type: `array`):

Phrases for Etsy's /market/ pages (any phrase resolves). Example: personalized dog collar

## `categoryUrls` (type: `array`):

Etsy category pages, e.g. https://www.etsy.com/c/jewelry/necklaces (no query string).

## `maxPages` (type: `integer`):

Pages per input, 1–20 (Etsy's own cap is 20).

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Stop after this many listing rows across all inputs.

## `is_best_seller` (type: `boolean`):

Only return listings marked Bestseller.

## `is_star_seller` (type: `boolean`):

Only return listings from Star Seller shops.

## `free_shipping` (type: `boolean`):

Only return listings with free shipping.

## `is_discounted` (type: `boolean`):

Only return listings currently on sale.

## `instant_download` (type: `boolean`):

Only return digital download listings.

## `ship_to` (type: `string`):

Two-letter code, e.g. US, GB, DE.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Etsy blocks datacenter IPs. Default: Apify Proxy RESIDENTIAL (you pay Apify's proxy usage). Your own residential proxy works too. A blocked page is never charged.
