## Pricing

from $250.00 / 1,000 successful file normalizations

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Financial File Normalizer

Convert your **own exported banking transactions** into exact, validated JSON. Supported: banking/credit-card OFX 1/2, OFX-formatted QFX/QBO, explicitly mapped CSV and transaction-only QIF Bank/Cash/CCard.

- Exact decimal-string amounts; no floats, rounding or LLM inference. At most 38 significant and 12 fractional digits; excessive precision/scientific notation is rejected.
- Explicit date/currency conventions, account numbers suppressed, source-ID deduplication with conflict rejection.
- Safe errors instead of silently returning partial success.
- Hard limits: 2 MB content, 10,000 raw transactions; caller limits may be lower.

### What it does not do

No bank connections, financial/accounting/tax advice, PDF/OCR, investment/loan statements, QIF account/split sections, QuickBooks import-file generation or balance reconciliation. This is transaction extraction, not full-fidelity archival conversion. Do not upload credentials or information you are not entitled to process.

### Input and output

Paste export text into `content`. CSV additionally needs `csv_mapping` and `csv_currency`; QIF needs `csv_currency` and an explicit `csv_date_format`. One normalized result appears in the default dataset, with a `transactions` array and summary counts/net totals. All examples in the source project are synthetic.

### Privacy

**Apify stores input and dataset output under its platform/account retention settings. This is not a zero-retention actor.** Review run-storage access/deletion and your data-processing requirements before sending real financial data. Local-library/HTTP alternatives do not intentionally persist request data.

### Pricing and availability

Unpublished draft. Suggested validation price: $0.25 per successfully normalized file; not configured, enabled or charged by this build. API availability and payment entitlement must be verified on the exact approved deployment before launch.

### Support

After publication, use the Apify Messaging button for the publisher. No public support or listing is created by this local build.

# Actor input Schema

## `content` (type: `string`):

Your own structured banking export. Never provide bank credentials. Apify stores actor inputs/outputs under platform retention rules.

## `format` (type: `string`):

Auto-detect OFX/QIF; CSV requires explicit field mapping. QFX/QBO must be OFX banking or credit-card exports.

## `csv_mapping` (type: `object`):

Exact headers; date plus amount OR debit and credit; optional description, payee, id, account.

## `csv_currency` (type: `string`):

Required for CSV/QIF; uppercase three-letter currency code.

## `csv_date_format` (type: `string`):

Explicit date convention for CSV/QIF. Day/month order is never guessed.

## `delimiter` (type: `string`):

Single-character CSV delimiter; required column names must match exactly.

## `decimal_separator` (type: `string`):

Use dot-decimal/comma-grouped or comma-decimal/dot-grouped amounts. Values are never rounded.

## `encoding` (type: `string`):

Optional explicit bytes encoding for library/CLI callers. Actor content is already Unicode text.

## `deduplicate` (type: `boolean`):

Remove exact repeats only when the same account/source ID and all transaction values match; conflicts fail.

## `max_bytes` (type: `integer`):

Optional smaller content-byte limit; cannot exceed the 2 MB hard maximum.

## `max_transactions` (type: `integer`):

Optional smaller raw-transaction limit; counts before deduplication and cannot exceed 10000.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "format": "auto",
  "csv_date_format": "%Y-%m-%d",
  "delimiter": ",",
  "decimal_separator": ".",
  "deduplicate": true,
  "max_bytes": 2000000,
  "max_transactions": 10000
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `results` (type: `string`):

Dataset item with schema_version, source_format, transactions (exact amount strings), summary counts and net_by_currency totals, and warnings.

# API

You can run this Actor programmatically using our API. Below are code examples in JavaScript, Python, and CLI, as well as the OpenAPI specification and MCP server setup.

## JavaScript example

```javascript
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';
// Initialize the ApifyClient with your Apify API token
// Replace the '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>' with your token
const client = new ApifyClient({
    token: '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>',
});
// Prepare Actor input
const input = {};
// Run the Actor and wait for it to finish
const run = await client.actor("punctual_alghoza/financial-file-normalizer").call(input);
// Fetch and print Actor results from the run's dataset (if any)
console.log('Results from dataset');
console.log(`💾 Check your data here: https://console.apify.com/storage/datasets/${run.defaultDatasetId}`);
const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();
items.forEach((item) => {
    console.dir(item);
});
