## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Google Trends Scraper: Fast & Reliable

Get **Google Trends** data for any keyword, with no rate-limit headaches:

- **Interest over time** (0–100), for any range from the past hour to 2004 onwards
- **Interest by region**: countries, or states/regions inside a country
- **Related queries and topics**, both *top* and *rising* (breakout terms)
- **Trending now**: today's trending searches per country, with approximate traffic and news links
- **Compare up to 5 terms** on a shared scale, exactly like the Trends website
- Filter by **country/region**, **category** and **search property** (Web, Images, News, Shopping, YouTube)

### Output (one item per search term)

```json
{
  "searchTerm": "chatgpt",
  "geo": "US",
  "timeframe": "today 3-m",
  "comparedWith": ["claude"],
  "averageInterest": 52.4,
  "interestOverTime": [{"date": "Oct 11", "timestamp": 1791676800, "value": 49, "isPartial": true}],
  "interestByRegion": [{"geoCode": "US-CA", "geoName": "California", "value": 76}],
  "relatedQueries": {"top": [{"query": "chatgpt login", "value": 100}], "rising": [...]},
  "relatedTopics": {"top": [...], "rising": [...]}
}
```

### Use cases

SEO and content planning, product and market research, seasonality analysis, ad timing, investment and brand-tracking signals, and newsjacking with *Trending now*.

### Tips

- Turn on **Compare terms together** when you want the values directly comparable (up to 5 terms per group).
- Custom ranges are passed as `YYYY-MM-DD YYYY-MM-DD`.

# Actor input Schema

## `searchTerms` (type: `array`):

Keywords or phrases to get Google Trends data for.

## `geo` (type: `string`):

Two-letter country code (US, GB, DE…) or a sub-region like US-CA. Leave empty for worldwide.

## `timeframe` (type: `string`):

Period to fetch. You can also type a custom range like '2025-01-01 2025-06-30' via the API.

## `compareTogether` (type: `boolean`):

Fetch up to 5 terms in one comparison, so their values share one 0–100 scale (like the Trends website). Off: each term is scaled on its own.

## `includeRegions` (type: `boolean`):

Include interest broken down by country or state.

## `includeRelated` (type: `boolean`):

Include top and rising related queries and topics.

## `category` (type: `integer`):

Google Trends category ID (0 = all categories).

## `property` (type: `string`):

Which Google search property to use.

## `trendingNowGeos` (type: `array`):

Also get today's trending searches, with traffic and news links, for these country codes (e.g. US, GB).
