## Pricing

from $3.30 / 1,000 articles

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Google News Scraper: Articles by Keyword, Country, Language & Date

Search Google News for any keywords and get the articles as structured data: **headline, media outlet, link, publication date, snippet and position**. Run several searches at once, pick the country and language, limit the period (past hour to past year, or exact dates) and sort by relevance or by date.

Typical uses: media monitoring and brand mentions, PR and competitor tracking, financial and crypto news feeds, market research, news datasets for AI and analytics.

### Quick start

1. Add one search per line in **Search queries** (for example `tesla`, `interest rates`).
2. Choose the **Country** and **Language** of the news you want.
3. Optionally set a **Time range** (or exact dates) and **Sort by**.
4. Start the run. Articles appear in the dataset as they are delivered; download them as JSON, CSV or Excel, or read them through the API.

### What you get

One row per article:

```json
{
  "type": "article",
  "status": "ok",
  "query": "artificial intelligence",
  "queryIndex": 0,
  "position": 6,
  "title": "UK Taxman to Tackle Rogue Advice From Artificial Intelligence",
  "source": "Bloomberg",
  "domain": "bloomberg.com",
  "url": "https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2026-10-22/uk-taxman-to-tackle-rogue-advice-from-artificial-intelligence",
  "publishedAt": "2026-10-22T03:37:52Z",
  "publishedAtPrecision": "hour",
  "publishedText": "2 hours ago",
  "snippet": "The UK's tax authorities are worried that artificial intelligence is giving people bad advice. HM Revenue & Customs is trying to stem a...",
  "topStory": false,
  "country": "US",
  "language": "en",
  "scrapedAt": "2026-10-22T05:37:53Z"
}
```

- `position`: rank of the article for that search (1 = first), in the order Google News shows it.
- `source`: the outlet name when Google shows it, otherwise derived from the website address (`domain` is always exact).
- `publishedAt` is **estimated** from Google's own label (`publishedText`, for example "3 days ago"): to the minute for today's articles, coarser as articles age. `publishedAtPrecision` says how coarse (`minute`, `hour`, `day`, `week`, `month`, `year`), and an estimate never falls outside the period you asked for. Both are `null` when Google gives no date, never a made-up zero.
- `topStory`: `true` for articles taken from the "Top stories" box at the top of the results.
- Searches that find nothing, or cannot run, give a `notice` / `error` row with the reason. The **Run summary** (OUTPUT) lists the articles delivered for each search.
- There is no author field, and author bylines in snippets ("By Jane Doe LONDON...") are removed. A snippet is otherwise Google's own text and can name the people an article is about.

### Input

| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| `queries` | The searches, one per line. Repeated searches are run once. |
| `country` | Code (`US`, `GB`, `FR`...) or name. Default `US`. |
| `language` | Code (`en`, `fr`, `de`, `pt-BR`, `zh-CN`...) or name. Default `en`. |
| `timeRange` | `any`, `hour`, `day`, `week`, `month`, `year`. |
| `dateFrom`, `dateTo` | Exact period, `YYYY-MM-DD`. They replace `timeRange`. |
| `sortBy` | `relevance` (default) or `date` (newest first). |
| `maxItemsPerQuery` | Articles delivered for each search, 1 to 100 (default 50). |
| `maxItems` | Total articles for the run. Also respected: the maximum charge you set on the run. |

### Pricing

Pay per event: a small fee per run, a fee per search and a price per article delivered.

| Event | Price |
|---|---|
| Run start | $0.005 |
| Search (each query the news service answers, with or without articles; once per query) | $0.003 |
| Article (Free / Bronze) | $0.0035 ($3.50 per 1,000) |
| Article (Silver) | $0.0034 ($3.40 per 1,000) |
| Article (Gold and above) | $0.0033 ($3.30 per 1,000) |

A search with no result, or one Google News cannot run as written, costs the search fee only. Not charged: queries refused before searching (invalid input, search operators), searches the news service does not answer, error and notice rows themselves, duplicates inside a search. The run start is charged per GB of memory (the Actor runs in 256 MB).

Examples at the base tier: 1 search, 50 articles = $0.005 + $0.003 + 50 x $0.0035 = **$0.183**. 5 searches, 50 articles each = $0.005 + 5 x $0.003 + 250 x $0.0035 = **$0.895**.

### Limits

- Google News shows about 100 articles for a search: `maxItemsPerQuery` stops at 100. Use several wordings for more.
- Search operators (`site:`, `intitle:`, `inurl:`...) are not supported. Searches that contain one get a free error row.
- A query is limited to 700 characters.
- Dates are estimates (see above). If you need the exact publication time, open the article link.
- Results depend on country and language, and change as the news changes: two runs minutes apart are not identical.

### FAQ

**Is this legal?** The Actor reads what Google News shows to any visitor: headlines, outlets, links, dates and short snippets. It has no author field and removes author bylines from snippets. You are responsible for how you use the articles; the full text belongs to the publishers.

**How fast is it?** About 3 to 6 seconds for 10 to 50 articles; a search for 100 articles takes 1 to 2 minutes. Searches run in parallel.

**Is anything different on Apify's free plan?** Live searches need a paid Apify plan. On the free plan, the prefilled example (the search "artificial intelligence", country US, language en, 20 articles, no other option) returns a stored sample of real articles so you can see the format, and only the run start is charged. Any other input returns a message explaining this.

**What if a run is interrupted or moved to another server?** It resumes where it stopped. Articles and searches already charged are never charged again.

**What if I set a spending limit?** The Actor never charges more than your maximum charge and never delivers more articles than `maxItems` allows. A search starts only when its fee and its articles fit, and the run status says why it stopped.

**Does the Actor send anything to Quarra?** Only when a run fails, runs out of time, or the news service becomes unavailable during a run (even a run that delivered articles): the Actor, its build, the error type, the line of our code where it happened, and the memory and time the run was given, so we can fix it fast. Never your searches, your results, your account or the run ID.

**Something looks wrong.** Open an issue on the Actor page with the run link; we answer within 48 hours.
