## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Etsy Keyword Suggestions — Autocomplete API

Get the keyword phrases Etsy's autocomplete surface returns for seed searches and save them as clean dataset rows.

This Actor is intentionally narrow: it does **not** scrape listings, shops, reviews, sales, or invent search-volume estimates. It returns autocomplete suggestions with their source query and Etsy ordering so you can use the data in SEO research, product naming, spreadsheets, automations, and other Apify workflows.

### What it does

For each seed keyword, the Actor can:

- query the seed directly;
- optionally expand the seed with `a-z` and `0-9` (for example `gift a`, `gift b`, ...);
- preserve Etsy's per-query suggestion order;
- deduplicate identical phrases across the whole run;
- cap requests and saved suggestions;
- export JSON, CSV, Excel, XML, or consume the dataset through the Apify API.

### Output

Each unique suggestion contains:

- `keyword` — the suggestion returned by Etsy;
- `seed` — your original seed;
- `rank` — accepted-result order for that seed after deduplication;
- `sourceRank` — the position returned for the specific autocomplete query;
- `sourceQuery` — the exact query that surfaced the phrase;
- `expansionCharacter` — the suffix character used, or `null` for the direct seed;
- `searchUrl` — ready-to-open Etsy search URL;
- `sourceUrl` — autocomplete endpoint URL used as provenance;
- `scrapedAt` — UTC capture time.

### Example input

```json
{
  "keywords": ["wedding gift", "wall art"],
  "expand": true,
  "maxQueries": 100,
  "maxSuggestions": 1000,
  "concurrency": 4
}
```

For a cheap test, set `expand` to `false`. That makes one autocomplete request per seed.

### Pricing

Pay per unique suggestion saved. Duplicate phrases and empty autocomplete responses are not billed as suggestion rows.

### Limits

Autocomplete results can change by time and region. This Actor records the exact source query, rank, URL, and timestamp rather than claiming that autocomplete position is a search-volume metric.

# Actor input Schema

## `keywords` (type: `array`):

One to 50 seed phrases.

## `expand` (type: `boolean`):

Also query each seed followed by a space and each expansion character.

## `expansionCharacters` (type: `string`):

ASCII letters/digits used when expansion is enabled.

## `maxQueries` (type: `integer`):

Hard safety cap on autocomplete requests sent during one run.

## `maxSuggestions` (type: `integer`):

Hard cap on unique suggestion rows saved to the dataset.

## `concurrency` (type: `integer`):

Number of simultaneous autocomplete requests. A conservative default reduces upstream load.

## `timeoutSecs` (type: `integer`):

Maximum time allowed for each Etsy autocomplete HTTP request.
