## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## ShopGoodwill Completed-Price Lookup (Hammer-Price Comps)

**ShopGoodwill doesn't publish sold prices.** Closed auctions are visible
only to the accounts that bid on them, so resellers set their bid ceilings
from eBay comps — even though Goodwill's smaller, as-is buyer pool clears
at systematically different prices.

This actor answers comp lookups from an archive of **actual ShopGoodwill
hammer prices**, harvested daily from the public buyer API across the
major categories (electronics, gaming, jewelry, instruments, cameras,
collectibles, and more) and growing every day.

### What you get

For each query phrase you pass in:

- **Comp records** (newest first): title, final hammer price, bid count,
closing date, full category path, seller region, and a link to the
  (closed) listing.
- **A summary record** with statistics over *all* matches in the
archive: count, median, 25th/75th percentiles, min/max, mean — the
numbers a bid ceiling should come from.

### Input

| Field | Type | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| `queries` | string\[] | One phrase per lookup, e.g. `"ipod classic 160gb"`. Every term must appear in the title (order-free). |
| `categoryId` | integer (optional) | Restrict to a top-level category: 7 Electronics, 33 Gaming, 6 Jewelry, 13 Instruments, 170 Cameras. |
| `maxResultsPerQuery` | integer | Comp records per query (default 25, max 200). Stats always cover all matches. |

### Notes

- Records are real completed auctions; 0-bid closes (no sale) are never
  included.
- Prices are hammer prices — they exclude shipping/handling and tax,
  which vary by seller.
- The archive is a living dataset: it deepens daily and cannot be
replicated from the platform after the fact.

*(Draft listing copy — actor is private while the archive seasons.)*

### Pricing

Pay per event: **$0.05 per lookup** (one query, including its summary statistics).

# Actor input Schema

## `categoryId` (type: `integer`):

Optional top-level ShopGoodwill category id to restrict matches (7 = Computers & Electronics, 33 = Gaming Systems & Games, 6 = Jewelry & Gemstones, 13 = Musical Instruments, 170 = Cameras & Camcorders). Leave empty to search the whole archive.

## `maxResultsPerQuery` (type: `integer`):

Maximum comp records returned per query (newest first). Statistics are computed over ALL matches, not just the returned page.

## `queries` (type: `array`):

One search phrase per lookup, e.g. "ipod classic 160gb". Every term must appear in the item title (order-free, prefix-tolerant).
