## Pricing

from $0.30 / 1,000 feed items

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## RSS & Atom Feed to JSON Reader (Bulk, Auto-Discovery)

**RSS & Atom Feed to JSON** reads any **RSS 2.0, RSS 1.0 (RDF), Atom or JSON Feed** and returns clean, consistent JSON items: title, link, published date (ISO 8601), author, plain-text summary, categories, image and GUID. Give it a **website URL instead of a feed** and it auto-discovers the feed from the page's `<link rel="alternate">` tag.

Process many feeds in one run, keep only items newer than a date, and cap items per feed. HTML tags and entities are removed from summaries. No browser, and only **$0.30 per 1,000 items**.

### What can you use it for?

#### Convert RSS to JSON

One consistent schema for RSS, Atom and JSON Feed, so your code doesn't care which format a site uses.

#### News and blog monitoring

Schedule a run over dozens of news sites or competitor blogs and get new posts with `sinceDate`.

#### Find a website's RSS feed

Pass a homepage like `https://blog.apify.com` and the Actor finds and reads its feed.

#### Feed content into AI, Slack or Google Sheets

Pipe new items to an LLM summarizer, a Slack channel, Airtable or a spreadsheet with Apify integrations.

#### Podcast and YouTube feeds

Read enclosure / media thumbnail images and links from podcast RSS and YouTube Atom feeds.

### How to use it

1. Click **Try for free** (or **Start**).
2. Enter your input (see the example below) and click **Save & Start**.
3. Download results as JSON, CSV, Excel or HTML, or read them via the API.

### Input

- `feeds` — Feed URLs, or website URLs to auto-discover their feed.
- `maxItemsPerFeed` — Max items per feed (default 50; 0 = all).
- `sinceDate` — Optional ISO date; older items are skipped.
- `concurrency` — Parallel feeds (default 10).

Example input:

```json
{
  "feeds": [
    "https://hnrss.org/frontpage",
    "https://blog.apify.com"
  ],
  "maxItemsPerFeed": 20,
  "sinceDate": "2026-10-01"
}
```

### Output example

| feedTitle | title | published | author | link |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Apify Blog | How to do question answering from a PDF with Python and RAG | 2026-10-14T08:16:08.000Z | Satyam Tripathi | https://blog.apify.com/how-to-do-question-answering-from-a-pdf/ |
| Apify Blog | Model collapse: why AI models degrade and how to prevent it | 2026-10-14T08:16:08.000Z | Satyam Tripathi | https://blog.apify.com/improve-ai-models-web-scraping-data-augmentation/ |

All output fields: `feedTitle`, `title`, `link`, `published`, `author`, `summary`, `categories`, `image`, `guid`, `feedUrl`. A feed that can't be read returns one row with `feedUrl` and `error` (not charged).

### How much does it cost?

This Actor uses **pay-per-event** pricing. You pay only for results, not for servers or subscriptions:

- **$0.0003 per feed item**, which is **$0.30 per 1,000 feed items**
- plus Apify's standard **Actor start** event of $0.00005 per run (per GB of memory; the default 512 MB memory = one event)

| You process | You pay (approx.) |
|---|---|
| 1,000 feed items | $0.30 |
| 10,000 feed items | $3.00 |
| 100,000 feed items | $30.00 |

Apify's free plan includes monthly platform credit, which is enough to try this Actor at no cost.

### Run it via API, schedule or AI agents

Run from your own code with the Apify API, JavaScript or Python client, schedule it in Apify Console, connect it to Make, Zapier, n8n or Google Sheets, or let an AI agent call it through the Apify MCP server (`https://mcp.apify.com`).

```bash
curl -X POST "https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/quillbit-tools~rss-feed-to-json/run-sync-get-dataset-items?token=YOUR_APIFY_TOKEN" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"feeds": ["https://hnrss.org/frontpage", "https://blog.apify.com"], "maxItemsPerFeed": 20, "sinceDate": "2026-10-01"}'
```

### FAQ

**Which formats are supported?**
RSS 2.0, RSS 1.0/RDF, Atom 1.0 and JSON Feed 1.x.

**What if I give a website instead of a feed?**
The Actor reads the page, finds the `<link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml">` (or Atom/JSON) tag and follows it. If none exists you get `No feed found on page` and are not charged.

**How do I get only new items?**
Set `sinceDate` (e.g. the date of your last run). Items without a date are kept.

**What am I charged for?**
One `feed-item` event per item output. 50 items from one feed cost $0.015.

**Does it fetch the full article text?**
No, it returns what the feed contains (title, summary/content as plain text up to 2,000 characters). To get full article Markdown, pass the `link` values to the Webpage to Markdown Actor.
