## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## SEO Audit: Meta Tags, Headings, Links, Score

Run an on-page SEO audit on a list of URLs or a whole website. For every page you get the title and meta description with their lengths, H1/H2 structure, canonical, robots noindex, language, viewport, hreflang, Open Graph, JSON-LD structured data types, images without alt text, internal/external/nofollow links, word count, status code and response time, plus a **list of issues** and a **0-100 score**.

Turn on **Audit the whole sitemap** and give it a site URL: it reads `/sitemap.xml` (including sitemap indexes) and audits up to *Max pages per site* pages. No browser, so it is fast and cheap: five product pages took about 4 seconds in our tests.

### What you can do with it

- **Site audits for clients**: export the issues per page to a spreadsheet in minutes.
- **Monitoring**: schedule weekly runs and catch accidental `noindex`, missing titles or broken pages after deployments.
- **Competitor analysis**: compare titles, descriptions, headings and structured data.
- **Content QA at scale**: thin pages, duplicate or overly long titles, missing alt text.

#### Issues and score

The score starts at 100 and loses points for each issue: `http-error` (page not reachable or 4xx/5xx, score 0), `noindex` (30), `missing-title` (20), `missing-h1` and `missing-meta-description` (10 each), `title-too-long` (over 60 characters), `multiple-h1`, `missing-canonical`, `missing-viewport`, `images-missing-alt`, `thin-content` (under 300 words), `slow-response` (over 1.5 s) (5 each), `meta-description-too-long` (over 160) or `too-short` (under 70), `canonical-points-elsewhere`, `missing-lang` (3 each), `missing-open-graph` and `no-structured-data` (2 each).

### Pricing

$2.00 per 1,000 audited pages. Invalid inputs are reported with an `error` field and are not charged. Files listed in sitemaps that are not HTML pages (images, PDFs) are skipped and not charged.

### Limits

- The audit reads the HTML the server returns; content rendered only by JavaScript in the browser is not seen.
- Sites that block bots may answer 403; the page is then reported with `http-error`. Enable a proxy in the input for such sites.

# Actor input Schema

## `urls` (type: `array`):

Pages to audit, one per line. With "Audit the whole sitemap" a site URL audits that site.

## `crawlSitemap` (type: `boolean`):

For each URL, also audit the pages listed in the site's /sitemap.xml (sitemap indexes are followed).

## `maxPagesPerSite` (type: `integer`):

Upper limit of pages audited per site when the sitemap is used.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Not needed for most sites. Turn on Apify Proxy for sites that rate-limit or block datacenter IPs.

## `maxConcurrency` (type: `integer`):

How many sites are processed in parallel.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "urls": [
    "https://apify.com"
  ],
  "crawlSitemap": false,
  "maxPagesPerSite": 100,
  "proxyConfiguration": {
    "useApifyProxy": false
  },
  "maxConcurrency": 5
}
