## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Telegram Channel Scraper

Scrape posts from public Telegram channels: text, publication time, views, reactions, photos, links, hashtags, forwards and link previews, plus the channel's title, description and subscriber count. No Telegram account, phone number or API keys: it reads the public web preview that Telegram publishes for every public channel at `t.me/s/<channel>`.

It is fast and cheap: in our tests 50 posts from two channels took under 2 seconds.

### What you can do with it

- **Monitor news, crypto and market channels**: schedule it every hour with *Posted after* = "1 days" and push new posts to Slack, email or a webhook.
- **Track brand and topic mentions** with the keyword filter.
- **Research and analytics**: views, reactions and posting frequency of competitor or influencer channels.
- **Feed AI agents and RAG pipelines** with fresh channel content.

### Input

```json
{
    "channels": ["durov", "https://t.me/telegram"],
    "maxPostsPerChannel": 100,
    "postedAfter": "30 days",
    "keywords": ["update", "feature"]
}
```

- **Channels**: usernames or links (`durov`, `@durov`, `https://t.me/durov`, `https://t.me/s/durov`).
- **Max posts per channel**: newest posts first; `0` scrapes the whole history.
- **Posted after**: `YYYY-MM-DD` or relative (`7 days`). Scraping stops at the first older post, so a daily schedule costs only the new posts.
- **Keywords**: keep only posts containing any of the words.

### Output

```json
{
    "input": "durov",
    "channel": "durov",
    "postId": 525,
    "url": "https://t.me/durov/525",
    "date": "2026-06-12T19:15:19+00:00",
    "text": "🔄 Telegram’s new update is out. Lots of great new features.\n\n😂 But...",
    "views": 16500000,
    "author": "Pavel Durov",
    "forwardedFrom": null,
    "photos": [],
    "hasVideo": false,
    "hasDocument": false,
    "links": [
        "https://telegram.org/blog/watch-apps-and-more"
    ],
    "hashtags": [],
        "site": "Telegram",
        "title": "Smartwatch Apps, Rich Text for Bots, AI Guardians for Groups, and Much More",
        "description": "Today’s update brings Telegram to Apple Watch and Android smartwatches, adds filthy rich text for bots, lets AI admins screen new group members, and introduces smarter polls, browser controls, and much more."
    },
    "reactions": [
        {
            "reaction": "paid star",
            "count": 4450
        },
        {
            "reaction": null,
            "count": 20000
        },
        {
            "reaction": null,
            "count": 8110
        },
        {
            "reaction": null,
            "count": 6100
        },
        {
            "reaction": null,
            "count": 1190
        },
        {
            "reaction": null,
            "count": 283
        }
    ],
    "reactionsTotal": 40133,
    "channelTitle": "Pavel Durov",
    "channelDescription": "Founder of Telegram.",
    "channelSubscribers": 10200000,
    "scrapedAt": "2026-11-01T09:40:12+00:00"
}
```

Views, reactions and subscribers are rounded the way Telegram shows them (`16.5M` becomes 16500000). Custom emoji reactions have `"reaction": null` because Telegram renders them as images.

### Pricing

$1.00 per 1,000 posts. Channels that cannot be scraped are reported with an `error` field and are not charged.

### Limits

- Only **public channels** with a web preview. Private channels, groups, bots and invite links (`t.me/+...`, `t.me/joinchat/...`) are not accessible without logging in.
- Comments under posts are not part of the public preview.
- Media files are not downloaded; you get photo URLs and flags for videos and documents.

# Actor input Schema

## `channels` (type: `array`):

Public channel usernames or links, one per line: "durov", "@durov", "https://t.me/durov" or "https://t.me/s/durov". Private groups and invite links are not supported.

## `maxPostsPerChannel` (type: `integer`):

Newest posts first. Stop after this many posts per channel. 0 means all posts back to the first one.

## `postedAfter` (type: `string`):

Only posts published after this date: YYYY-MM-DD or a relative value such as "7 days". Scraping stops at the first older post.

## `keywords` (type: `array`):

Only posts whose text contains any of these words (case-insensitive). Leave empty for all posts.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Not needed for most runs: the data comes from public endpoints. Turn on Apify Proxy if you see rate limits on very large runs.

## `maxConcurrency` (type: `integer`):

How many channels are processed in parallel.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "channels": [
    "durov"
  ],
  "maxPostsPerChannel": 20,
  "proxyConfiguration": {
    "useApifyProxy": false
  },
  "maxConcurrency": 5
}
