## Pricing

from $7.00 / 1,000 funding rounds

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Startup Funding Rounds – Crunchbase Alternative (SEC Form D)

A **daily list of US startups and private companies raising money**, straight from official **SEC Form D** filings: **company, industry, state, amount raised and offered, date of first sale, number of investors and security type**. Filter by industry, state and amount; schedule daily for **new-round alerts**. A legal, low-cost alternative to paid funding databases.

### Why this one

- **Official and fresh.** Companies must file Form D within 15 days of the first sale in a private round – the earliest public signal of most venture rounds.
- **Clean company data.** Industry group, revenue range, entity type, jurisdiction, year of incorporation, business address and phone – ready for CRM import.
- **Signal, not noise.** Investment funds and SPVs (most Form D filings) are filtered out unless you want them; amendments are optional.
- **Alerts.** "Only new rounds" + a daily schedule = each round once.
- **No person data.** Executives, directors, promoters and signers listed in the filing are never collected.

### Compared with alternatives

2. Click Start – or schedule daily with "Only new rounds" for alerts.

### Cost examples

- One week of US tech rounds (≈ 150): $1.50
- Daily alerts, all industries: ≈ $0.50–1 per day

### Use it from code, n8n or AI agents

Run it from the Apify API, the Python or JavaScript client, n8n, Make or Zapier – or let an AI agent call it through the **Apify MCP server** (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor).

```python
from apify_client import ApifyClient
client = ApifyClient("<YOUR_APIFY_TOKEN>")
run = client.actor("ram1eal/startup-funding-rounds").call(run_input={"since":"7 days","industries":["Other Technology"]})
for item in client.dataset(run["defaultDatasetId"]).iterate_items():
    print(item)
```

```javascript
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';
const client = new ApifyClient({ token: '<YOUR_APIFY_TOKEN>' });
const run = await client
  .actor('ram1eal/startup-funding-rounds')
  .call({ since: '7 days', industries: ['Other Technology'] });
const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();
```

**MCP:** add `ram1eal/startup-funding-rounds` to the Apify MCP server and ask in plain English – the agent fills the input and pays per result.

### Data sourcing & compliance

- SEC EDGAR daily form index and Form D XML documents – U.S. government data, public domain.
- SEC fair-access rules respected: declared User-Agent, under 10 requests per second.
- Person data in Form D (related persons, signers, sales-compensation recipients) is never read.

### FAQ

- **Is every startup round here?** Most US venture rounds file Form D, but some companies file late or use other exemptions.
- **Why is the offering amount empty?** Funds often report it as "Indefinite" (`offeringAmountIndefinite: true`).
- **Who are the investors?** Form D does not name investors – only their number.
- **What if something breaks?** Open an issue – typical response under 12 hours.

## `stateKey` (type: `string`):

Runs with the same history name share what was already delivered. Leave empty to use one history per search.
