## Pricing

Pay per usage

This Actor is paid per platform usage. The Actor is free to use, and you only pay for the Apify platform usage, which gets cheaper the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## 🏢 Glassdoor Scraper — Reviews, Jobs, Salaries & Company Overviews

**Scrape Glassdoor company reviews, job listings, salary data and company profiles — no login required, no official API key needed.**

This actor uses **Glassdoor's internal GraphQL API** via session bootstrapping and CSRF token extraction. It is significantly more advanced than standard HTTP scrapers due to Glassdoor's anti-bot protections.

***

### ✨ Features

- **4 Scraping Modes:**
  - 📝 **Reviews** — Employee ratings, pros/cons, CEO approval, work-life balance
  - 💼 **Jobs** — Active job listings with descriptions, salaries, and apply URLs
  - 💰 **Salaries** — Median, P10, P90 salary ranges by job title
  - 🏢 **Overview** — Company description, size, revenue, CEO, website, ratings

- **Zero login required** — Works with public data only

- **Auto-resolves company names** to internal Glassdoor IDs via typeahead API

- **Multi-company support** — Scrape multiple companies in one run

- **Cursor-based & offset pagination** — Collects deep datasets beyond the first page

- **512MB RAM** — Lightweight GraphQL approach, no browser needed

***

### 🔧 How It Works (Technical)

This actor is **impossible to build** using simple REST endpoint sniffing. It requires:

#### 1. Session Bootstrapping (CSRF Token)

Glassdoor protects its GraphQL API with a CSRF token stored in cookies. The actor performs a preliminary GET request to the homepage, extracts `GD_CSRF_TOKEN` from `Set-Cookie` headers, and carries it in all subsequent POST requests via the `gd-csrf-token` header.

#### 2. GraphQL Protocol

All data is fetched via `POST /graph` with Apollo-style query documents. Unlike Reddit (`.json`) or Hacker News (Algolia API), there are no public GET endpoints.

#### 3. Apollo `__ref` Resolver

Glassdoor's GraphQL uses Apollo Client's normalized cache format. Response objects contain `{"__ref": "Employer:1234"}` pointers instead of nested data. The actor resolves these automatically.

#### 4. Company ID Resolution

Users provide company names; the actor resolves them to numeric Glassdoor company IDs via the typeahead/autocomplete endpoint before scraping begins.

### ⚠️ Anti-Bot Notes

Glassdoor employs Cloudflare protection. For best results:

- Enable **Apify Proxy with residential IPs** (strongly recommended)
- The actor uses a fresh session per company to minimize fingerprinting
- Politeness delays are built-in between requests

***

### 💰 Pricing

Pay-per-result: **$0.80 / 1,000 records** — competitive with `bebity/glassdoor-jobs-scraper` which charges significantly more.

*Built with `got-scraping` (TLS fingerprint emulation), `cheerio` (HTML parsing), and Apify SDK v3.*

# Actor input Schema

## `mode` (type: `string`):

What type of data to scrape from Glassdoor.

## `companyNames` (type: `array`):

List of company names to scrape (e.g. \['Google', 'Apple', 'Meta']). The actor will auto-resolve each name to its Glassdoor company ID.

## `companyIds` (type: `array`):

Optional list of Glassdoor numeric company IDs if you already know them. Skips the name-resolution step.

## `maxReviewsPerCompany` (type: `integer`):

Maximum number of reviews to collect per company (for Reviews mode).

## `maxJobsPerCompany` (type: `integer`):

Maximum number of job listings to collect per company (for Jobs mode).

## `reviewSort` (type: `string`):

How to sort reviews (for Reviews mode).

## `jobLocation` (type: `string`):

Optional location filter for job listings (e.g. 'Paris, France' or 'New York, NY').

## `language` (type: `string`):

Filter reviews by language code (e.g. 'en', 'fr', 'de'). Leave empty for all languages.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Apify Proxy configuration. Residential proxies are STRONGLY recommended for Glassdoor to avoid IP blocks.
