## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Google Trends Trending Now – Daily Trending Searches API

Get what people are searching on Google **right now**, in 50+ countries, as clean JSON. For each trend: keyword, approximate search volume, when it started, and the news articles behind it.

> Unofficial tool. Not affiliated with or endorsed by Google. Uses Google's public "Trending now" feed.

### Why this one

- **Fast and reliable**: reads the public feed, no browser, no captcha. A run takes seconds.
- **Many countries at once**: `["US","GB","IN"]` or `ALL` for 50+ countries.
- **Alerts built in**: `onlyNew` returns only trends you have not seen before, so a schedule every 30–60 min gives you a clean alert stream.
- **Filters**: keyword filter (`ai, crypto, nfl`) and minimum search volume.
- **News context**: related headlines, links and sources for every trend.

### Use cases

- Newsjacking and content ideas for blogs, YouTube, TikTok and newsletters.
- Auto-generating posts or articles with an LLM from today's trends.
- Ad and SEO teams spotting spikes early; dropshipping / e-commerce product ideas.
- Market and media research dashboards across countries.

### Input example

```json
{ "countries": ["US", "GB"], "minTraffic": 10000, "keywordFilter": "", "onlyNew": true }
```

### Output example

```json
{
  "keyword": "nyt connections hints",
  "country": "US",
  "rank": 1,
  "approxTraffic": "200+",
  "approxTrafficNum": 200,
  "startedAt": "2026-10-14T10:10:00.000Z",
  "newsCount": 3,
  "topNewsTitle": "NYT Connections Answers for October 14, 2026",
  "topNewsUrl": "https://www.nytimes.com/...",
  "news": [{ "title": "...", "url": "...", "source": "The New York Times", "imageUrl": "..." }],
  "exploreUrl": "https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?geo=US&q=...",
  "scrapedAt": "2026-10-14T10:20:00.000Z"
}
```

### Pricing

Pay per event: a small fee per run plus a fee per trend returned (see the Pricing tab). With `onlyNew`, repeat trends are not returned and not charged.

### n8n, Make and Zapier

- **n8n**: Schedule Trigger (every hour) → HTTP Request `POST https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/realletoangt~google-trending-now/run-sync-get-dataset-items` (header `Authorization: Bearer <token>`, body `{"countries":["US"],"onlyNew":true,"minTraffic":20000}`) → OpenAI "write a post about {{keyword}} using {{topNewsTitle}}" → Slack/Telegram/WordPress.
- **Make**: Apify "Run an Actor" (sync) → Iterator → Google Sheets "Add a row".
- **Zapier**: Schedule → Apify "Run Actor" → Slack "Send message".

### AI agents (MCP)

Available through the Apify MCP server (`mcp.apify.com`). Simple input for agents: `{"countries":["US"]}`. Output is flat JSON with clear field names (`keyword`, `approxTrafficNum`, `topNewsTitle`), easy for an LLM to rank and summarize.

### FAQ

**Historical interest over time?** Not in this Actor; it focuses on what is trending now.
**How often does the list change?** Google updates it continuously; scheduling every 30–60 min with `onlyNew` works well.

## `countries` (type: `array`):

2-letter country codes (US, GB, IN, DE, BR, JP...). Use ALL for 50+ countries.
