## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## App Store & Google Play Reviews Scraper

Both app stores, one run, one schema. Give it an Apple App Store link and a Google Play package name in the same input list and get back a single dataset of reviews with identical fields, so you can diff iOS against Android without gluing two scrapers together.

### Why this one

| | This actor | Typical single-store scrapers |
|---|---|---|
| Stores | Apple App Store **and** Google Play in one run | One store, so you run and merge two actors |
| Price per 1,000 reviews | **$0.05** | $0.10 to $6.00 |
| Rating / keyword / date / version filters | Yes, applied before billing | Rarely, and you pay for rows you then throw away |
| Developer replies | Yes (Google Play) | Usually missing |
| Multi-country App Store reviews | Yes, one country code list | Usually US only |
| Hard result cap | Yes, per app | Often unbounded |

Filtered rows are dropped **before** they are pushed or charged. If you ask for 1-star reviews only, you pay for 1-star reviews only.

### Input

| Field | Type | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| `apps` | array | App Store URLs or numeric IDs, Google Play URLs or package names. Mixed freely. |
| `maxReviewsPerApp` | integer | Hard cap per app (per country on the App Store). Default 200. |
| `countries` | array | Store country codes, default `["us"]`. App Store reviews are per country. |
| `language` | string | Google Play review locale (`hl`), default `en`. |
| `sort` | enum | `newest`, `rating`, `helpful`. |
| `minRating` / `maxRating` | integer | Star range to keep. Set `maxRating: 3` to mine complaints. |
| `keywords` | array | Keep only reviews mentioning one of these words. |
| `reviewsSince` | date | Drop reviews older than this date. |
| `appVersion` | string | Keep only reviews on one release, e.g. `9.1.86`. |
| `includeAppInfo` | boolean | Attach app name and developer to every row. |

```json
{
  "apps": ["com.spotify.music", "https://apps.apple.com/us/app/id324684580"],
  "maxReviewsPerApp": 500,
  "countries": ["us", "gb"],
  "maxRating": 3,
  "keywords": ["crash", "battery", "refund"],
  "reviewsSince": "2026-06-01"
}
```

### Output

| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| `store` | `appstore` or `googleplay` |
| `appId`, `appName`, `developer`, `appUrl` | App identity |
| `country`, `language` | Store locale the review came from |
| `reviewId`, `userName`, `userImage` | Reviewer |
| `rating` | 1 to 5 |
| `title`, `text` | Review body (App Store has titles, Google Play does not) |
| `date` | ISO timestamp |
| `version` | App version reviewed |
| `thumbsUp` | Helpful votes |
| `developerReply`, `developerReplyDate` | Developer response |
| `reviewUrl` | Link back to the store |

```json
{
  "store": "googleplay",
  "appId": "com.spotify.music",
  "appName": "Spotify: Music and Podcasts",
  "country": "us",
  "rating": 3,
  "text": "I love music... maybe lower the price instead of increasing an extra dollar every year for premium",
  "date": "2026-04-10T00:04:24.000Z",
  "version": "9.1.36.1948",
  "thumbsUp": 56,
  "developerReply": "Hi. We'll pass this on to the ads team."
}
```

### Pricing

Pay per event. $0.005 per run start, $0.00005 per review returned, so **$0.05 per 1,000 reviews**. Reviews your filters remove are never charged.

### Use cases

- **ASO and release QA.** Pull the last 30 days of reviews for your app and your two closest competitors on both stores, filter to 1 and 2 stars, and read what broke.
- **Churn reasons.** Keyword-filter for `refund`, `cancel`, `price` and feed the text straight into an LLM for reason codes.
- **Version regression watch.** Set `appVersion` to the release you just shipped and watch its rating distribution against the previous one.
- **Support gap audit.** Google Play developer replies are included, so you can measure how many complaints got an answer.
- **Market research decks.** Multi-country App Store reviews give you regional sentiment without running the actor once per market.

### FAQ

**Do I need cookies or a login?** No. Both sources are public endpoints.

**How many App Store reviews can I get per app?** Apple's public feed exposes roughly the 450 most recent reviews per country, so add country codes to go wider.

**How many Google Play reviews?** As many as the store will page through, bounded by your `maxReviewsPerApp` cap.

**Do I pay for reviews my filters remove?** No. Filtering happens before anything is pushed or billed.

**Can I schedule it?** Yes. Run it daily with `reviewsSince` set to yesterday for a rolling review feed, or integrate it over the Apify API.

**Does it need a proxy?** Google Play does; Apify Residential is the default and needs no setup. The App Store feed is fetched directly.

# Actor input Schema

## `apps` (type: `array`):

App Store URLs/IDs or Google Play URLs/package names. Both stores accepted in the same list, e.g. https://apps.apple.com/us/app/spotify/id324684580, 324684580, com.spotify.music.

## `maxReviewsPerApp` (type: `integer`):

Hard cap per app (per country for the App Store). Keeps your bill predictable.

## `countries` (type: `array`):

Two-letter store country codes. App Store reviews are per country; Google Play uses this as the review locale.

## `language` (type: `string`):

Language code for Google Play reviews (hl).

## `sort` (type: `string`):

Review order.

## `minRating` (type: `integer`):

Only keep reviews with this star rating or higher. Filtered-out reviews are never charged.

## `maxRating` (type: `integer`):

Only keep reviews with this star rating or lower. Use 3 to mine complaints only.

## `keywords` (type: `array`):

Only keep reviews whose title or text contains one of these words (case-insensitive). Filtered-out reviews are never charged.

## `reviewsSince` (type: `string`):

ISO date, e.g. 2026-01-01. Older reviews are dropped before billing.

## `appVersion` (type: `string`):

Only keep reviews left on this app version, e.g. 9.1.86.

## `includeAppInfo` (type: `boolean`):

Look up the app title and developer once per app and attach it to every review.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Google Play needs a proxy. Residential is the default and works out of the box.
