## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## USAspending Awards Pro

Search federal awards on USAspending.gov with one run: contracts, grants, IDVs and other financial assistance, filtered by keyword, NAICS, PSC, place-of-performance state, recipient name, amount range and date window.

**Why this over the alternatives:** the 30-day category leader [parseforge/usaspending-scraper](https://apify.com/parseforge/usaspending-scraper) charges about **$12.00 per 1,000 results** (its page lists $0.012 per result) and returns thin award rows. USAspending Awards Pro runs **$0.005 per run + $3.00 per 1,000 awards** and returns richer rows: recipient name and UEI, full agency hierarchy, NAICS and PSC codes, start/end/last-modified dates, award amount, plain-text description and a direct USAspending award link on every row.

### Input

| Field | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
| `keyword` | string | Search term matched against award descriptions and fields, e.g. `cybersecurity`, `cloud`, `logistics`. |
| `awardType` | select | `contracts`, `grants`, `direct_payments`, `other` (insurance + other assistance), `idvs`, or `all` to cover every group in one run. |
| `dateFrom` / `dateTo` | string | Action-date window, `YYYY-MM-DD`. Defaults to the last 30 days. |
| `naics` | string | Comma-separated NAICS codes, e.g. `541512,541519`. |
| `psc` | string | Comma-separated Product and Service Codes, e.g. `R408`. |
| `state` | string | Two-letter place-of-performance state, e.g. `TX`. |
| `recipient` | string | Recipient name for a similar-name search, e.g. `Deloitte`. |
| `minAmount` / `maxAmount` | string | Award amount range in dollars. |
| `maxItems` | string | Hard cap on rows returned, up to 5,000. Default 10. |
| `pageSize` | string | Rows fetched per page, up to 100. Default 100. |

### Output

| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| `internalId` | USAspending internal award record id. |
| `awardId` | Contract number or FAIN. |
| `mod` | Award modification number, when present. |
| `awardType` | Group requested: `contracts`, `grants`, `direct_payments`, `other`, `idvs`. |
| `typeDetail` | Detailed type, e.g. `DEFINITIVE CONTRACT`, `DELIVERY ORDER`. |
| `recipientName` / `recipientUei` | Recipient company or organization and its UEI. |
| `amount` | Total award amount in dollars. |
| `startDate` / `endDate` / `lastModifiedDate` | Award action dates. |
| `description` | Award description as plain text. |
| `agency` / `subAgency` / `office` | Full awarding agency hierarchy. |
| `naics` / `psc` | `{ code, name }` objects, when present. |
| `cfda` / `cfdaTitle` | Federal assistance listing, on grants. |

Rows deduplicated across award groups, sorted by award amount descending. Only rows actually returned to the dataset are counted.

### Pricing

**$0.005 per run + $3.00 per 1,000 awards** (pay-per-event: $0.005 actor start, $0.003 per result row).

### Use cases

- **Federal business development:** track fresh contract awards and IDV obligations in your NAICS, by agency, state and size.
- **Competitive intelligence:** pull a competitor's full federal award history by recipient name, with UEI to anchor entity matching.
- **Grant research:** follow federal grantmaking by CFDA number and assistance type.
- **Vendor due diligence:** check a supplier's award record, agency relationships and award sizes before contracting.

### FAQ

**Which award types does `all` cover?**
Contracts, grants, direct payments, other financial assistance (insurance and other) and IDVs. Loans (07/08) use a separate USAspending data model and are not covered in this release.

**What dates are searched?**
Action dates (start and end plus last-modified action), defaulting to the last 30 days. Wider windows work; keep them under a year or so for the fastest runs.

**How are filters applied?**
All filters run server-side at USAspending, so rows that fail a filter are never fetched into your dataset and never counted.

**Can I follow one company across all award types?**
Yes: set `recipient` to the company name and `awardType` to `all`.
