A Connecticut row adds `subStatus`, `jurisdictionType`, `naicsCode` ("459510"), `naicsText` ("Used Merchandise Retailers"), `annualReportDue` and `dissolutionDate`; Pennsylvania and New York rows add `county`; an Oregon row carries `status` "Registered" and the registry number as `entityId`.

Each `state` reads one published dataset through the portal's documented API, with a fixed column list on every request:

**What is never downloaded.** Colorado's registered-agent name columns and every street or mailing address; Connecticut's business e-mail addresses, owner-demographics flags and street lines; Pennsylvania's officer rows (the dataset lists one row per officer — the request groups them into one row per filing and never selects the name columns); New York's chairman, registered-agent and process-name columns and every street line; Oregon's registered-agent, member, manager, president, secretary and "individual with direct knowledge" rows (the file lists one row per associated name — the request asks for the principal-place-of-business row only and never selects the name or street columns). The request itself carries the column list, so a person column cannot slip in.

### Limits and honest notes

- **Five states.** Colorado, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, New York, Oregon. Fifteen more were checked (Washington, Vermont, Utah, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, Maryland, Virginia, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Wisconsin, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Hawaii, Nevada): they sell their registers, require a login or a signed licence, or publish no dataset with a stated licence; a state is added only when its portal's own words permit reuse.
- **Pennsylvania and Oregon are monthly** — Pennsylvania refreshes its file about once a month; Oregon replaces its "last month" file mid-month, and that file can cover part of a month only (the September 2026 file held 3–14 August). A daily PA or OR Task would usually be empty. New York's metadata says monthly but the rows carry the previous business day's filings when read.
- **Pennsylvania, New York and Oregon carry no status** — the Pennsylvania and New York datasets list current / active entities only (`status` "Active"); Oregon's lists new registrations (`status` "Registered"). Colorado and Connecticut publish the real status, including delinquent, forfeited and dissolved entities.
- **Connecticut name reservations and rejected filings are dropped** — the Business Master table also holds reserved names and rejected filings; they are not businesses, so they are filtered out and never charged.
- **Future filing dates exist** — Colorado publishes delayed-effective formations with their effective date (a filing read on 26 Sep 2026 can say 2026-11-01). They are left out by default: an empty `filedTo` is capped at today (UTC) when the run starts. Set `includeFuture` to true to include them (they then lead the newest-first list); your own `filedTo` date always wins.
- **Status changes are noticed on the pages a run reads** — in incremental mode a run reads newest-first and stops at the first page with nothing new, so a changed status (`_changed`) is reported for entities on those pages, not for the whole register.
- **300 pages a run** (300,000 rows). Use a filing-date window to reach older filings; `city`, `entityType` and `naicsPrefix` are applied after each page, so combine them with a date window or with incremental mode.
- **Not for:** registered agents, officers or owners; e-mail addresses or phone numbers; street addresses; assumed business names / DBAs; states other than the five; a live check against the Secretary of State website (use `registryUrl` for that).

### FAQ, Disclaimers, and Support

**What is the basis for using this data?** The five datasets are published by the states on their open-data portals as public domain (Colorado, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Oregon) or under the OPEN-NY Terms of Use (New York), which permit use including commercial use; the Actor reads them only through the portals' documented API. This is a description of the sources' own published terms, not legal advice.

**Intended use:** market research, B2B lead lists of newly formed businesses, verification of a company's existence, filing date and status, monitoring of new filings. It is not a tool for profiling individuals, and it does not output personal data.

**Personal data / GDPR:** the source datasets also hold registered agents, officers, chairmen, (Oregon) members and managers and (Connecticut) business e-mail addresses. This Actor never downloads those columns — the request names the entity columns only — and delivers no street line. A one-person LLC's principal-office ZIP can still be a home ZIP: use the data for B2B purposes only, keep it current, and honour removal requests. If you combine this output with personal data from other sources, you are responsible for having a lawful basis (GDPR where it applies, US state privacy laws).

**Is it affiliated with a state?** No. Not affiliated with, endorsed by, or reviewed by any Secretary of State, Department of State or open-data portal.

#### Do I need an API key or an account?

No. The portals answer anonymous API requests; the Actor identifies itself on every request, makes one request a second and never uses an application token.

#### How fresh is the data?

Colorado and Connecticut update daily; New York's rows carry the previous business day's filings when read; Pennsylvania refreshes about monthly; Oregon's "last month" file is replaced mid-month. `scrapedAt` on every row is when it was read.

#### Is this a Secretary of State business search?

It reads the same register, but as a feed: instead of one name at a time on the state's search page, you get every filing in a date window, a kind of entity, a city or a sector, in pages of 1,000 rows, and — with *Only filings not delivered before* on a schedule — only the new business filings each day, week or month. For a single-entity check, `nameContains` plus `status` and `filingDate` answer "does it exist, since when, is it in good standing"; `registryUrl` opens the official page.

#### Can I get only new filings on a schedule?

Yes: turn on *Only filings not delivered before* and schedule the Task daily or weekly. Rows come newest-first, so each run reads pages until it meets filings it already delivered and returns only the new ones. An entity delivered before comes back only when a delivered field changed (marked `_changed`) — a Colorado status moving to Delinquent, a Connecticut dissolution date.

#### Why are there no registered agents, officers or e-mail addresses?

By design: they are people. In most small LLCs the registered agent is the owner at a home address, and Pennsylvania's and Oregon's files list one row per officer, member or manager by name. The request itself names the entity columns only (Colorado's ten, Connecticut's seventeen…), and for Pennsylvania and Oregon it asks for one row per registration, so the person columns never reach the Actor — there is nothing to filter out afterwards and nothing to leak. A registered-agent name is also a poor lead: it is usually a formation service (LegalZoom, Registered Agents Inc). If you need agents or officers, this is not the right tool. Removal requests: open an issue in the Issues tab or write to rein8.actors@gmail.com — rows are refreshed from the register on the next run.

#### Which entity types are "other"?

Trusts, cooperatives, credit unions, banks and insurance companies, savings and loans, unincorporated associations, professional associations, authorities — anything the state does not class as an LLC, a corporation (business, profit, professional, benefit, nonprofit) or a partnership (LP, LLP, LLLP, GP). The state's own wording is always in `entityType`.

#### How do I export to Google Sheets, CSV or Excel?

Every run's dataset downloads as CSV, Excel, JSON or XML from the Storage tab or the API (`?format=csv`); the Apify → Google Sheets integration appends new rows on a schedule. The **Lead list** view (Storage → dataset → view) downloads a CRM-ready CSV.

Keep one kind of entity: LLCs (domestic and foreign), corporations (business, profit, professional, benefit), nonprofits, partnerships (LP, LLP, LLLP, GP), or everything else (trusts, cooperatives, credit unions, associations…). The states name their types differently; the row keeps the state's own wording in entityType and the normalised kind in entityClass. Filtered-out rows are never charged.

## `city` (type: `string`):

One or more cities of the principal office, separated by commas (Denver, Aurora), matched case-insensitively after each page is read. Combine with a filing-date window: without one the run pages newest-first until it has enough matches or reaches 300 pages.

## `naicsPrefix` (type: `string`):

Connecticut publishes the NAICS industry code each business declared: keep one sector with a 2–6 digit prefix (23 = construction, 722 = food services and drinking places, 6216 = home health care). Matched after each page; rows outside the sector are never charged. The other states publish no NAICS code, so leave this empty for them (it would keep nothing).

## `nameContains` (type: `string`):

Words that must appear in the entity name (roofing, dental, holdings). The words are sent to the source's full-text search and the row is kept only when its name contains them; other columns are never searched.

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Maximum number of entities delivered in this run; you are charged only for rows delivered ($0.002 each). Pages hold 1,000 rows, so up to 1,000 = one request. Left empty (API calls), 50 rows; the form prefills 200. A run reads at most 300 pages (300,000 rows).

## `incremental` (type: `boolean`):

Remember which entities were already delivered (per saved Task, or per set of filters for a hand-started run) and return only new ones. Rows come newest-first, so a scheduled run stops reading at the first page with nothing new. A row delivered before comes back, marked \_changed and charged again, only when a delivered field changed (a Colorado status moving to Delinquent) and the row is on a page the run reads. With a daily or weekly schedule this is a feed of new business filings.

## `stateKey` (type: `string`):

Name of the memory used by "Only filings not delivered before". Left as "default", every saved Task gets its own memory automatically (a run started by hand remembers per set of filters). Type a name to share one memory between schedules on purpose.

## `allowStateFallback` (type: `boolean`):

Only matters if an incremental run stops with "state store unavailable". Off (default): such a run stops before anything is charged. On: the run continues without memory, i.e. it delivers and charges every matching filing again.
