## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Grants.gov Federal Grant Opportunities

Pull every federal funding opportunity listed on [Grants.gov](https://www.grants.gov) into clean JSON, CSV or Excel. Filter by keyword, agency, funding category, eligible applicant type, Assistance Listing number or posting date, and get the money and deadline facts in separate fields instead of buried in a PDF.

Data comes from the official public Grants.gov search API. No login, no proxy and no API key.

### Who it is for

- **Grant writers and consultants** who track new NOFOs for clients every week.
- **Nonprofits, universities and school districts** looking for funding that fits their applicant type.
- **Startups and small businesses** hunting for SBIR/STTR and other non-dilutive money.
- **Funding-alert and research tools** that need a stable feed of federal grants.

### What you get per opportunity

| Field | Example |
|---|---|
| opportunityNumber, title, url | `RFA-CA-28-013`, ..., Grants.gov page |
| status, documentType | `posted`, `synopsis` |
| agency, topAgency, subAgency | National Institutes of Health |
| openDate, closeDate, closeDateExplanation | `2026-10-09`, `2027-02-09` |
| awardCeilingUsd, awardFloorUsd | 700000, 700000 |
| estimatedTotalFundingUsd, expectedNumberOfAwards | 800000, 1 |
| costSharingRequired | false |
| eligibleApplicants, eligibilityNotes | Small businesses, State governments, ... |
| fundingInstruments, fundingCategories | Grant, Health |
| cfdaPrograms, assistanceListings | `93.393 Cancer Cause and Prevention Research` |
| description (plain text), moreInfoUrl | Full synopsis text and the agency's NOFO link |

Government contact names, phone numbers and emails are not included. Use the Grants.gov page link to reach the agency.

### Input

```json
{
  "keyword": "solar",
  "statuses": ["posted", "forecasted"],
  "postedWithinDays": 30,
  "agencies": ["DOE"],
  "maxResults": 100
}
```

- `statuses`: `posted` (open), `forecasted` (announced), `closed`, `archived`.
- `postedWithinDays`: e.g. `7` for a weekly alert run on a schedule.
- `minAwardCeilingUsd`: skip small awards.
- `includeDetails`: on by default; turn off for a fast list with only the search fields.

### Pricing

Pay per result: **$3 per 1,000 opportunities** ($0.003 each), plus Apify platform usage. A weekly alert of 50 new grants costs about 15 cents.

### Tips

- Schedule the actor weekly with `postedWithinDays: 7` and connect it to Slack, email or Google Sheets for an alert feed.
- Use `eligibilities` codes (for example `23` small businesses) to cut the list down to what you can actually apply for.

### Notes

This actor reads public information published by the U.S. government. It is not affiliated with Grants.gov or any agency. Always confirm deadlines and rules in the official announcement.
