## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Shopify App Store Scraper: apps, pricing plans and reviews

Pull structured data from the public Shopify App Store without an API key. Point it at one or more categories, or at a list of app handles, and get one clean record per app: rating, review count, star split, every pricing plan, developer, launch date, categories, languages and more. Switch on reviews to also get the newest merchant reviews for each app.

### Who it's for

- **Shopify app developers** tracking competitors' prices, ratings and launch dates.
- **SaaS marketers and agencies** building lists of apps by category or developer.
- **Investors and analysts** sizing app categories and spotting new entrants.
- **Product teams** mining merchant reviews for feature gaps and support complaints.

### What you get

Each **app** record (billed as one result) contains:

- `name`, `handle`, `url`, `tagline`, `shortDescription`, `description`, `highlights`
- `rating`, `reviewCount`, `ratingDistribution` (count per star level)
- `pricingSummary`, `plans` (name, price, `priceUsd`, free-trial days, features), `hasFreePlan`, `hasFreeTrial`, `lowestPaidPlanUsd`
- `developer`, `developerUrl`, `developerCountry`, `builtForShopify`
- `categories`, `launched` (ISO date), `languages`, `worksWith`

Each **review** record (optional, billed separately) contains `appHandle`, `rating`, `date`, `storeName`, `storeCountry`, `timeUsingApp`, `text`, `developerReply` and a link to the review.

#### Example input

```json
{
  "categories": ["marketing-and-conversion-social-trust-product-reviews"],
  "maxResults": 50,
  "includeReviews": true,
  "maxReviewsPerApp": 20
}
```

#### Example output (app)

```json
{
  "recordType": "app",
  "handle": "judgeme",
  "name": "Judge.me Product Reviews App",
  "developer": "Judge.me",
  "rating": 5.0,
  "reviewCount": 48334,
  "ratingDistribution": {"5": 47267, "4": 803, "3": 73, "2": 36, "1": 155},
  "hasFreePlan": true,
  "lowestPaidPlanUsd": 15.0,
  "plans": [{"name": "Forever Free", "price": "Free", "priceUsd": 0.0}, {"name": "Awesome", "price": "$15/month", "priceUsd": 15.0, "freeTrialDays": 15}],
  "categories": ["Product reviews"],
  "launched": "2015-06-25",
  "url": "https://apps.shopify.com/judgeme"
}
```

### How to find a category handle

Open a category on apps.shopify.com, for example `https://apps.shopify.com/categories/orders-and-shipping`. The last part of the URL (`orders-and-shipping`) is the handle. You can paste the full URL as well.

### Input options

- **categories**: category handles or URLs to list (about 24 apps per listing page).
- **appHandles**: specific apps by handle or URL.
- **recentlyUpdated**: also take the most recently updated apps from the store-wide sitemap.
- **minRating**, **minReviewCount**: filter out small or poorly rated apps.
- **includeReviews**, **maxReviewsPerApp**: add the newest merchant reviews.
- **maxResults**: cap on apps returned.

### Pricing

Pay per event: **$4 per 1,000 apps** and **$1 per 1,000 reviews**, plus Apify platform usage. You only pay for records that are returned. Set `maxResults` to control cost.

### Notes

- Reads only public pages that the Shopify App Store serves to anonymous visitors, at a polite request rate.
- Reviews are the public merchant reviews: store name, country and text. No emails, phone numbers or other personal data are collected.
- Apps with no reviews return `rating: null` and `reviewCount: 0`.
- The data reflects the page at run time. Schedule the actor to track price and rating changes over time.

# Actor input Schema

## `categories` (type: `array`):

Shopify App Store categories to list, e.g. "marketing-and-conversion-social-trust-product-reviews" or a full URL such as https://apps.shopify.com/categories/orders-and-shipping. Every app in the category is opened for full details.

## `appHandles` (type: `array`):

Specific apps, e.g. "judgeme" or https://apps.shopify.com/klaviyo-email-marketing.

## `recentlyUpdated` (type: `boolean`):

Also scan the store-wide sitemap and take the apps most recently updated. Useful for spotting new launches.

## `maxPagesPerCategory` (type: `integer`):

Each listing page holds about 24 apps.

## `minRating` (type: `number`):

Skip apps rated below this (0-5). Unrated apps are skipped when set.

## `minReviewCount` (type: `integer`):

Skip apps with fewer reviews than this.

## `includeReviews` (type: `boolean`):

Also return the newest public merchant reviews of each app (store name, country, rating, text, developer reply). Billed per review.

## `maxReviewsPerApp` (type: `integer`):

Newest reviews first. Only used when reviews are included.

## `maxResults` (type: `integer`):

Maximum number of apps to return (you pay per app, and per review when reviews are on).
