## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## ImportYeti Scraper & API - US Import Records, Bills of Lading

**ImportYeti Scraper** is an unofficial ImportYeti API and US import data scraper: it finds **US importers and their overseas suppliers** from the public US customs (bill of lading) records that ImportYeti indexes, by product keyword, company name or ImportYeti URL, and returns one clean JSON row per company or supplier: address, country, website, total sea shipments and shipments in the last 12 months, first and last shipment, **top suppliers (or top customers)** with shipment counts, HS codes and product descriptions, HS code breakdown, origin countries, ocean carriers, trade lanes (ports), shipments per year and month.

It costs **$0.45 per 1,000 records, full report included, with no start fee**. It reads the same JSON search endpoint and server-rendered report pages the ImportYeti website uses, over plain HTTP: no browser, no login, no API key. No contact details are collected (ImportYeti masks phone numbers and e-mails; the scraper leaves them out entirely).

Use it for **B2B lead generation** (every company importing a product category is a prospect for freight forwarders, 3PLs, customs brokers, trade finance and suppliers), **supplier sourcing** (who manufactures a product and who already buys from them), **competitor intelligence** (a competitor's suppliers, volumes and growth), **supply-chain due diligence** (origin countries, UFLPA flags) and market sizing by HS code.

### What you get

One dataset item per importer or supplier:

- **Identity**: `name`, `type` (`company` = US importer, `supplier` = overseas shipper), `slug`, `url`, `address`, `city`, `region`, `country`, `countryCode`, `website`, `otherWebsites`, `alsoKnownAs`, `otherNamesCount`, `otherAddressesCount`, `otherAddresses` (with shipment counts).
- **Volume**: `totalShipments`, `shipments12m`, `firstShipment`, `lastShipment`, `avgTeuPerMonth`, `avgTeuPerShipment`, `estimatedShippingCostUsd` (ImportYeti's ocean-freight estimate), `quarterlyGrowthPercent`.
- **What they ship**: `topProducts` (HS chapters), `hsCodes` (chapter, description, shipments, weight, TEU and top sub-codes), `tags`.
- **Who they trade with**: `topSuppliers` (for importers) or `topCustomers` (for suppliers): name, country, address, shipments, last-12-month shipments, weight, TEU, HS codes, product descriptions and the partner's ImportYeti URL; `partnerCount`.
- **How it moves**: `originCountries`, `carriers` (SCAC code, name, shipments, year-on-year change), `tradeLanes` (loading port -> US unloading port with counts), `billTypes`, `containerTypes`.
- **Over time**: `shipmentsByYear`, `shipmentsByMonth` (last 36 months).
- **Flags and meta**: `uflpaFlag`, `databaseUpdated`, `detailsIncluded`, `sourceQuery`, `scrapedAt`.

With **Include the full report** off, rows carry only `name`, `type`, `address`, `countryCode`, `totalShipments`, `lastShipment`, `otherNamesCount`, `otherAddressesCount`, `url` and `detailsIncluded: false`.

### Sample output

Real rows from a test run (query "yoga mats", full reports on):

| name | type | countryCode | totalShipments | shipments12m | lastShipment | top partner |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mats N More | supplier | IN | 428 | 91 | 2026-10-10 | Home & More |
| Chandra Mats | supplier | IN | 302 | 53 | 2026-04-08 | Wal Mart |
| Yoga Jaya | supplier | ID | 140 | 11 | 2026-07-25 | Dovetail Furniture And Designs |
| Mahesh Mats | supplier | IN | 76 | 0 | 2025-04-20 | Joshi Group |

### Use cases

- **Freight forwarders, 3PLs, customs brokers**: every US company importing `solar panels` with 10+ shipments and a shipment in 2026 is a qualified prospect; the row tells you their volume (TEU per month), lanes and current carriers.
- **Suppliers and manufacturers**: find the US buyers of your product category and what they import today; `topSuppliers` shows who you are competing against.
- **Sourcing teams**: `entityType: supplier` lists overseas factories that already ship a product to the US, with their US customers as references.
- **Competitive intelligence**: one competitor URL returns its supplier list, volumes, growth and origin mix.
- **Compliance and ESG**: origin countries and the UFLPA flag for a supplier base.
- **AI agents**: "list US importers of lithium batteries with more than 50 shipments in the last year" maps straight onto the input fields.

### Pricing

**$0.45 per 1,000 results** (one result = one importer or supplier row, with or without the full report). **No start fee** and no charge per search. Failed requests, duplicates and results removed by your filters are never charged. It is the lowest per-company price of any ImportYeti scraper with real users:

| ImportYeti scraper (30-day users) | Price per 1,000 company rows |
|---|---|
| **This one** | **$0.45 with the full report, no start fee** |
| dami_studio (3) | $0.50 per profile + $0.025 per shipment record + $0.0005 per run |
| memo23 (30) | $0.80 + $0.02 per run |
| jungle_synthesizer bill of lading (25) | $1.00 + $0.0001 per run |
| fortuitous_pirate (9) | $1.40 + $0.005 per run |
| scrapesage (24) | $2.00 per search row, $9.00 per full profile |
| silentflow (14) | $5.00 |
| zen-studio (104) | $6.99 + $0.005 per run |
| khadinakbar (16) | $8.00 per profile |

| You scrape | You pay |
|---|---|
| 100 records | $0.045 |
| 1,000 records | $0.45 |
| 10,000 records | $4.50 |
| 100,000 records | $45.00 |

The Apify free plan's $5 monthly credit covers about 11,000 full records.

- A 100-company lead list with full reports = $0.045
- Every US importer of a product (say 1,700 companies) = $0.77
- One competitor's full supplier report = $0.00045

The prefilled input (20 "yoga mats" importers and suppliers with 10+ shipments) costs about $0.009 and took under 30 seconds in a cloud test. If you set a maximum cost per run, the scraper stops cleanly when it reaches it.

#### Why this one

- **The full report at a search-row price**: top suppliers or customers, HS codes, origin countries, carriers, trade lanes and 36 months of shipments, about 15x cheaper than the most-used ImportYeti scraper ($6.99 per 1,000).
- **Lowest price per company of any ImportYeti scraper with real users**: $0.45 per 1,000, no start fee.
- **Filters before you pay**: minimum shipments, last-shipment year and country codes.
- **Importers, suppliers or both** from one keyword, plus direct company / supplier URLs.
- **Quick-list mode**: turn the report off for names, addresses and shipment counts about 10x faster.
- **No personal data**: phones, e-mails and people's names are never collected.

### FAQ

**Is it legal? Does it return personal data?**
It reads public ImportYeti pages built from US customs bills of lading, which are public records. It never collects phone numbers, e-mails or people's names. You are responsible for how you use the data. This is not legal advice.

**Is this the official ImportYeti API? Do I need an account?**
No. It is an independent tool that reads the same public JSON and report pages the website uses. No ImportYeti account, login or API key.

**How fast is it?**
About 1,000 full records in 10-15 minutes at the default 2 parallel requests. With the full report off it is about 10x faster.

**Why does a keyword return companies that only have the word in their name?**
The search is ImportYeti's own: it matches company names and product descriptions. Use precise product words and several synonyms, and set `minShipments` (e.g. 10) to drop one-off importers.

**Does it cover air freight or non-US trade?**
No. ImportYeti indexes US ocean (sea freight) bills of lading only.

**How much does a typical run cost?**
A 200-importer lead list with full reports is $0.09. Every US importer of a broad product (about 1,700 companies) is about $0.77. The free plan's $5 credit covers about 11,000 records a month.

**Can I schedule it or use it from an AI agent?**
Yes: schedule runs in Apify, call it from the REST API, Make, Zapier, n8n, or through the Apify MCP server from Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor.

### How to use

1. Type one or more **Keywords or company names**: a product (`yoga mats`, `solar panels`, `lithium batteries`), a company (`lululemon`, `costco wholesale`) or a brand. Each line is one search.
2. Choose **Importers, suppliers or both**: `company` = US importers (lead lists), `supplier` = overseas manufacturers and exporters (sourcing lists), `all` = both.
3. Keep **Include the full report** on to get the complete record for every result (one request each), or turn it off for a quick, cheap list of names, addresses and shipment counts.
4. Optionally filter before anything is charged: **Minimum total shipments** (e.g. 10 drops one-off importers), **Last shipment in or after** (e.g. 2025 for active companies), **Country codes** (e.g. `US`, or `CN`, `VN`, `IN` for suppliers).
5. Set **Max results per query** and **Max results in total**, click **Start**, and download JSON, CSV or Excel from the **Output** tab, or pull the rows through the API, Make, Zapier, n8n or an MCP client.

Already have links? Paste ImportYeti company or supplier page URLs (`https://www.importyeti.com/company/lululemon-usa`) into **ImportYeti page URLs** - each gives one full row without a search.

Fill rates on the test runs (details on): name, type, address, country, total shipments, 12-month shipments, first / last shipment, HS codes, top products, origin countries, carriers, trade lanes, bill and container types 100%; trading partners (`topSuppliers` / `topCustomers`) 80% (one-shipment companies have none listed); region 90%; website 40%; aliases 50%; city 30% (ImportYeti prints a city only for US addresses it could geocode). A field ImportYeti does not have is `null`, never guessed.

### API example

Python (`pip install apify-client`):

```python
from apify_client import ApifyClient
client = ApifyClient("<YOUR_APIFY_TOKEN>")
run = client.actor("rel8ble/importyeti-scraper").call(run_input={"queries": ["solar panels"], "entityType": "company", "minShipments": 10, "activeSinceYear": "2025", "maxItemsPerQuery": 200})
for item in client.dataset(run["defaultDatasetId"]).iterate_items():
    print(item["name"], "|", item["totalShipments"], "|", item["website"])
```

One HTTP call that runs the actor and returns the rows (curl):

```bash
curl -X POST "https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/rel8ble~importyeti-scraper/run-sync-get-dataset-items?token=<YOUR_APIFY_TOKEN>" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"queries": ["yoga mats"], "entityType": "supplier", "minShipments": 10, "maxItemsPerQuery": 20}'
```

### Integrations

- **Make, Zapier and n8n**: run on a schedule and push new importers to your CRM (HubSpot, Pipedrive, Salesforce), Google Sheets or Slack.
- **Google Sheets**: export the dataset straight into a spreadsheet.
- **Apify API**: run the actor and fetch results over REST, or with the official JavaScript and Python clients.
- **Webhooks**: get notified when a run finishes.
- **MCP for AI agents**: through the Apify MCP server (https://mcp.apify.com), Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and other agents can call this importer / supplier API directly and read the results.

### Limits (read before large runs)

- **Search results are ImportYeti's**: a keyword search matches company names and product descriptions the way the site does; a broad word ("mats") returns companies whose names contain it, not every importer of mats. Use HS-code-like product words and several synonyms for coverage.
- **ImportYeti counts requests per IP** (about 25 per short window). The actor uses a fresh proxy IP every few requests and pauses on rate-limit answers; a run of 1,000 full records takes roughly 10-15 minutes at the default 2 parallel requests.
- **Report pages are large** (0.2-0.8 MB each); details on costs about 1 request per result. Turn `includeDetails` off for quick counts and then fetch details only for the companies you keep.
- **Sea freight only**: ImportYeti indexes US ocean bills of lading. Air freight, trucking and non-US trade are not in the data.
- **Lists are capped** at the top 25 suppliers / customers, HS codes, countries, carriers and lanes per row (`partnerCount` gives the full number the report lists).
- **No contact details**: phone numbers, e-mails and personal names are never collected.
- Only `importyeti.com/company/...` and `/supplier/...` pages are read; ImportYeti's HTML search pages (disallowed in its robots.txt) are never requested.

# Actor input Schema

## `queries` (type: `array`):

What to search for on ImportYeti, one search per line: a product ("yoga mats", "solar panels", "lithium batteries"), a company ("lululemon", "costco wholesale") or a brand. Each line is one search; results are merged. Typical: 1-50 lines. Leave empty when you give startUrls instead.

## `startUrls` (type: `array`):

Optional. Company or supplier report pages, one per line: "https://www.importyeti.com/company/lululemon-usa", "https://www.importyeti.com/supplier/travancore-mats-and-matting" (or just "company/lululemon-usa"). Each gives one full result with details, no search needed.

## `entityType` (type: `string`):

"all" (default) returns both US importers (type "company") and overseas suppliers (type "supplier"). "company" = US importers only (lead lists of companies that import the product). "supplier" = overseas manufacturers / exporters only (sourcing lists).

## `includeDetails` (type: `boolean`):

Default true: open each result's report page (one request each) and add website, aliases, other addresses, first / last shipment, 12-month shipments, top suppliers or customers with HS codes and product descriptions, HS code breakdown, origin countries, carriers, trade lanes (ports), shipments per year and month, bill types and container types. False = search rows only (name, address, country, total shipments, last shipment, URL), which is about 10x faster.

## `minShipments` (type: `integer`):

Skip importers / suppliers with fewer sea shipments than this in ImportYeti's records. E.g. 10 removes one-off importers from a lead list. 0 = keep everything.

## `activeSinceYear` (type: `string`):

Optional. Keep only companies whose most recent shipment is in this year or later, e.g. "2025" for currently active importers.

## `countries` (type: `array`):

Optional. Keep only results in these countries (2-letter codes): e.g. "US" for importers, or "CN", "VN", "IN", "TR" for suppliers. Empty = any country.

## `maxItemsPerQuery` (type: `integer`):

Stop each query after this many results (after filters). 0 = everything ImportYeti finds. Default 100.

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Stop the whole run after this many results. 0 = no limit. Default 1000 (= $0.45). The run also stops cleanly at the "Maximum cost per run" you set.

## `maxConcurrency` (type: `integer`):

How many requests to run at once. Default 2; ImportYeti rate-limits per IP, so higher values mostly mean more retries.

## `maxRequestRetries` (type: `integer`):

How often a failed request is retried on a new session / IP before it is given up. Default 10.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Default: Apify Proxy (datacenter). ImportYeti counts requests per IP, so every few requests use a fresh proxy IP. Residential is not needed.

## Actor input object example

{
  "queries": [
    "yoga mats"
  ],
  "entityType": "all",
  "includeDetails": true,
  "minShipments": 10,

  "maxItems": 1000,
  "maxConcurrency": 2,
  "maxRequestRetries": 10,
  "proxyConfiguration": {
    "useApifyProxy": true
  }
}
```
# Actor output Schema
## `results` (type: `string`):
One row per US importer or overseas supplier: name, type, address, country, website, shipment totals and dates, top suppliers or customers with HS codes and product descriptions, HS code breakdown, origin countries, carriers, trade lanes, shipments per year.
## `summary` (type: `string`):
Per-query counts, ImportYeti's total hits, pages read, report pages fetched or failed, rate-limit pauses, stop reasons and anything that failed with a hint.
