## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## axe-core Accessibility Audit Scraper ♿

> **Unofficial.** This Actor is powered by `axe-core` (v4.10.2, MPL-2.0 license by Deque Systems). It is not affiliated with, authorised by, or officially endorsed by Deque Systems Inc.

**axe-core Accessibility Audit Scraper** performs automated WCAG 2.1 & 2.2 accessibility evaluations directly within the browser context. Powered by `axe-core`, it identifies automated accessibility violations (Level A & AA) across any web page and exports structured, actionable dataset records.

### What does it do?

Navigates to target URLs, injects the industry-standard `axe-core` engine, evaluates computed DOM, ARIA trees, and visual styles, and outputs each violation with:

- Exact CSS selectors identifying the offending element (`target`).
- Verbatim source code snippet of the element (`html`).
- Clear remediation advice on how to fix it (`failureSummary`).
- Deque University documentation links with code examples (`helpUrl`).

### Why use it?

- **Real browser execution:** Evaluates computed layout, styles, contrast, and dynamic JavaScript state, which static linters cannot test.
- **512 MB Lightweight Footprint:** Powered by Bright Data Scraping Browser connector via CDP WebSocket—heavy browser rendering runs in the cloud, keeping container memory strictly at 512 MB.
- **Comprehensive Standards Support:** Supports `wcag2a`, `wcag2aa`, `wcag21a`, `wcag21aa`, `section508`, and `best-practice` rule tags.
- **Severity Filtering:** Filter output by minimum impact (`minor`, `moderate`, `serious`, or `critical`).

### How to use it

1. Supply one or more target web page URLs in `urls`.
2. Optionally configure `wcagTags` (defaults to `["wcag2a", "wcag2aa"]`) and `minImpact` (defaults to `"minor"`).
3. Run the Actor and export results to JSON, CSV, or Excel.

#### Input

| Field | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
| `urls` | array | List of webpage URLs to audit. Required. |
| `wcagTags` | array | WCAG rule tags to evaluate (default: `["wcag2a", "wcag2aa"]`). |
| `minImpact` | string | Minimum severity level: `minor`, `moderate`, `serious`, `critical` (default: `minor`). |
| `maxItems` | integer | Maximum violation records to output (default: 100). |
| `brightDataApiKey` | string | Optional Bright Data API key (BYOK mode). If omitted, uses platform secret connector. |
| `brightDataZone` | string | Bright Data Browser zone name (default: `cli_browser`). |

#### Sample Input

```json
{
  "urls": ["https://example.com"],
  "wcagTags": ["wcag2a", "wcag2aa"],
  "minImpact": "minor",
  "maxItems": 50
}
```

#### Output

Each dataset item contains:

| Field | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
| `url` | string | The audited web page URL. |
| `ruleId` | string | The axe-core rule identifier (e.g. `image-alt`, `color-contrast`, `label`). |
| `impact` | string | Severity impact (`critical`, `serious`, `moderate`, `minor`). |
| `help` | string | Short rule title / description. |
| `description` | string | Full technical explanation of the standard. |
| `helpUrl` | string | Deque University reference URL. |
| `tags` | array | Associated WCAG standard tags. |
| `html` | string | Verbatim HTML snippet of the violating DOM node. |
| `target` | array | CSS selector path locating the element on the page. |
| `failureSummary` | string | Exact remediation advice describing how to resolve the issue. |
| `scrapedAt` | string | ISO timestamp of the audit. |

### How much does it cost to scrape web pages for accessibility issues?

Pay-per-event: **$0.001 per violation row** saved to the dataset (**$1.00 per 1,000 violation rows**), plus **$0.0001** charged once when the run starts. No subscription. Only rows saved to the dataset are charged. A page with no violations saves one passing summary row, charged the same.

List of web page URLs to audit for WCAG accessibility violations.

## `wcagTags` (type: `array`):

WCAG standard tags to evaluate, e.g. wcag2a, wcag2aa, wcag21a, wcag21aa, best-practice. Defaults to wcag2a and wcag2aa.

## `minImpact` (type: `string`):

Filter results by minimum severity impact: minor, moderate, serious, or critical. Default is minor (all violations).

## `maxItems` (type: `integer`):

Maximum number of accessibility violation items to output into the dataset.
