## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Google Maps Places & Ratings Scraper

> **Unofficial.** This Actor is not affiliated with, authorised by, endorsed by, or in any
> way officially connected to Google. "Google Maps" is a trademark of Google LLC and is used
> here only to describe what this tool reads. It reads the same public pages a browser does.

Google Maps Places & Ratings Scraper turns a Google Maps search into rows: one row per place in the results.

### What does it do?

For each search query (for example `pizza barcelona`) it reads the Google Maps results and saves each
place's name, category, address, coordinates, star rating and review count, with a link that opens the
place on Google Maps. It does not read individual reviews.

### Why use it?

- **What Google Maps shows, as rows:** business name, category, address, coordinates, rating and review count for every place in the results.

### How to use it

1. Put one or more searches in `searchQueries`, written as you would type them into Google Maps.
2. Optionally set `minRating` to drop places rated below it (places with no rating are dropped too).
3. Run the Actor and download results as JSON, CSV, Excel, or NDJSON from the dataset.

#### Input

| Field | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
| `searchQueries` | array | Searches to run, e.g. `pizza barcelona`, `hotels tokyo`. |
| `maxItems` | integer | Maximum number of places to save in the run. |
| `minRating` | number | Optional minimum star rating, e.g. `4.0`. |
| `proxyConfiguration` | object | Apify proxy settings; Unblocker is the default. |

#### Sample Input

```json
{
    "searchQueries": ["pizza barcelona"],
    "maxItems": 5
}
```

#### Output

One row per place:

| Field | Type | Description |
|---|---|---|
| `id` | string | Google Maps place identifier. |
| `title` | string | Place name. |
| `url` | string | Link that opens the place on Google Maps. |
| `category` | string | Main category as Google Maps shows it. |
| `address` | string | Full address. |
| `rating` | number / null | Star rating, 1 to 5. |
| `reviewsCount` | integer / null | Number of reviews. |
| `latitude`, `longitude` | number | Coordinates. |
| `searchQuery` | string | The search that returned this place. |
| `scrapedAt` | string | ISO timestamp of when the row was read. |

#### Sample Output

```json
{
    "id": "0x12a4a2eb343246fb:0x4db9be4af396861f",
    "title": "Restaurant Pizzeria Edén",
    "url": "https://www.google.com/maps/search/?api=1&query=Restaurant+Pizzeria+Ed%C3%A9n&query_place_id=ChIJ-0YyNOuipBIRH4aW80q-uU0",
    "category": "Pizza restaurant",
    "address": "Carrer de Provença, 332, Eixample, 08037 Barcelona, Spain",
    "rating": 4.8,
    "reviewsCount": 5778,
    "latitude": 41.397219899999996,
    "longitude": 2.1649694,
    "searchQuery": "pizza barcelona",
    "scrapedAt": "2026-10-21T23:45:15.459165+00:00"
}
```

### How much does it cost to scrape Google Maps?

Pay-per-event: **$0.003 per place** saved to the dataset (**$3.00 per 1,000 places**), plus **$0.00005** charged once when the run starts. No subscription. Only rows saved to the dataset are charged.

### Privacy & Compliance

This Actor reads only publicly accessible pages and returns the public data they show. It sends no login.
