## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## OFAC Sanctions Screening (SDN): Names & Crypto Addresses

Screen names and crypto wallet addresses against the **live U.S. Treasury OFAC Specially Designated Nationals (SDN) list**. The list is downloaded fresh from OFAC on every run.

### What it does

- **Crypto addresses:** exact match against every `Digital Currency Address` on the SDN list (about 500 addresses across XBT, ETH, USDT, TRX, LTC, XMR, USDC, SOL and others). EVM and bech32 addresses match case-insensitively.
- **Names:** fuzzy matching (Jaro-Winkler, order-insensitive, so "Vladimir Putin" also matches "PUTIN, Vladimir") against primary names and about 20,000 aliases. Each match comes with a score, programs, DOB/nationality where OFAC lists them, and a link to the official entry.
- **Status per item:** `NO_MATCH`, `POTENTIAL_MATCH_REVIEW`, `STRONG_POTENTIAL_MATCH` or `SANCTIONED_ADDRESS`.

### Use cases

KYC/onboarding pre-screens, marketplace seller checks, payout and invoice checks, and AI agents that need to check a counterparty or a `payTo` wallet before paying.

### Input

```json
{ "names": ["Garantex", "Acme Widgets LLC"], "addresses": ["0x252a8bd2319d8a555b872990601221b3a2053bce"], "threshold": 0.88 }
```

### Output (one row per item)

```json
{ "kind": "address", "query": "0x252a…3bce", "status": "SANCTIONED_ADDRESS", "match": true,
  "matches": [{ "uid": 0, "name": "…", "programs": ["CYBER2"], "asset": "ETH", "sdnSearchUrl": "https://sanctionssearch.ofac.treas.gov/Details.aspx?id=…" }],
  "list": { "entries": 19471, "cryptoAddresses": 506, "downloadedAt": "…" } }
```

### Limits and disclaimer

This is a screening aid, **not legal advice or a compliance determination**. It covers the OFAC SDN list only: not OFAC's non-SDN Consolidated lists, and not the EU, UK or UN lists. A name match is only a *potential* match; review it against the full SDN entry (DOB, nationality, addresses). The data comes from U.S. Treasury OFAC, and this actor is not affiliated with the U.S. government.

# Actor input Schema

## `names` (type: `array`):

People, companies, vessels to screen (any order, e.g. 'Vladimir Putin' or 'PUTIN, Vladimir').

## `addresses` (type: `array`):

Wallet addresses to check against the SDN 'Digital Currency Address' fields. EVM and bech32 addresses match case-insensitively.

## `threshold` (type: `number`):

0.75-1.0. Lower finds more possible matches (more false positives).

## `maxMatchesPerName` (type: `integer`):

Most potential matches returned per name (1-25).

## `entityType` (type: `string`):

Only match SDN entries of this type.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "names": [
    "Garantex",
    "National Bank of Cuba",
    "Acme Widgets LLC"
  ],
  "addresses": [
    "0x252a8bd2319d8a555b872990601221b3a2053bce"
  ],
  "threshold": 0.88,
  "maxMatchesPerName": 5,
  "entityType": "any"
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `results` (type: `string`):

One row per screened name or crypto address in the default dataset: match flag, match count, top score, potential SDN matches, list metadata and disclaimer.
