## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## France Company Finder (Open Data)

Find French companies by activity code (NAF/APE), department, size, revenue and
creation date, using the official open-data company search API of the French
government. One clean dataset row per company: SIREN, SIRET, name, activity,
size band, latest published revenue, address, VAT number and creation date.

The default input lists active car repair and bodywork companies (NAF 45.20A
and 45.20B), but any NAF code works: garages, dealers, haulage, construction,
restaurants, software and so on.

### Why use it?

- Build B2B prospect lists by sector and region without scraping paid directories.
- Size a market: how many mid-sized companies exist in a department and sector.
- Spot newly created companies in a niche (use `createdAfter`).
- Enrich a spreadsheet or CRM with SIREN/SIRET, VAT number, size and revenue.
- Feed stable JSON into Make, Zapier, n8n, an AI agent or a scheduled task.

### Input

- `query`: optional free text (name, address or SIREN).
- `nafCodes`: activity codes, for example `45.20A`, `47.11B`.
- `departements`: French department codes, for example `75`, `69`, `2A`.
- `employeeBands`: INSEE size bands, for example `11` (10-19), `12` (20-49).
- `minRevenue` / `maxRevenue`: latest published revenue in EUR.
- `createdAfter` / `createdBefore`: creation date range, `YYYY-MM-DD`.
- `onlyActive`: keep only active companies (default on).
- `excludeSoleTraders`: skip sole traders (default on, see privacy).
- `maxResults`: 1-1,000 companies per run.

At least one search filter is required. Revenue is only available for companies
that publish their accounts, so revenue filters exclude the others.

### Input example

```json
{
  "nafCodes": ["45.20A", "45.20B"],
  "departements": ["69"],
  "employeeBands": ["11", "12"],
  "onlyActive": true,
  "excludeSoleTraders": true,
  "maxResults": 25
}
```

### Output

One row per company: name, siren, siret, nafCode, legalFormCode,
companyCategory, employeeBand, latestRevenueEur, latestNetResultEur,
financialsYear, creationDate, isActive, establishments, openEstablishments,
address, postalCode, city, departement, latitude, longitude, vatNumbers,
sourceUrl (official public company page) and fetchedAt.

### Output sample

```json
{
  "name": "PDR-TEAM",
  "siren": "752030221",
  "siret": "75203022100275",
  "nafCode": "45.20A",
  "companyCategory": "PME",
  "employeeBand": "20-49",
  "latestRevenueEur": 33678145,
  "financialsYear": 2025,
  "creationDate": "2012-05-31",
  "isActive": true,
  "city": "ROMANS-SUR-ISERE",
  "departement": "26",
  "vatNumbers": ["FR73752030221"],
  "sourceUrl": "https://annuaire-entreprises.data.gouv.fr/entreprise/752030221"
}
```

### Pricing

Pay per event: **$0.002 per company record** ($2 per 1,000 companies). There is
no monthly rental. If your run reaches your maximum charge, it stops cleanly.

### Data source and licence

Data comes from the "Recherche d'entreprises" API of the French government
(`recherche-entreprises.api.gouv.fr`), built on the Annuaire des Entreprises
(data.gouv.fr, INSEE SIRENE and company register data). It is published as open
data under the Licence Ouverte / Etalab 2.0. This Actor is not affiliated with
or endorsed by the French government, INSEE or data.gouv.fr. Data may be
incomplete or out of date; always check the official page linked in `sourceUrl`.

### Privacy

The Actor returns company data only. It does not return names of company
officers or directors. Sole traders (entrepreneurs individuels) are excluded by
default because their business data can identify a private person. If you turn
this off or use the data for direct marketing, you are responsible for complying
with GDPR and French rules on prospecting (for example the right to object).

### Limits

The Actor makes polite, rate-limited requests and retries on temporary errors.
The upstream API returns at most 10,000 results per query; the Actor caps a run
at 1,000 companies, so split large searches by department or size band.

### AI transparency

The Actor performs deterministic querying, filtering and formatting. It does not
call a generative AI model and does not claim human review. Its source and
listing were prepared with AI assistance. Verify results before making
financial, legal or commercial decisions.

### Local checks

```text
python -m unittest discover -s tests -v
```

To test pay-per-event charging without billing:

```text
ACTOR_TEST_PAY_PER_EVENT=true python -m src
```
