## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## CanadaBuys Scraper: Canada Government Tenders & Bid Alerts

Get **daily alerts for new Government of Canada tenders** that match your trade, region or keywords. You get clean JSON, CSV or Excel straight from the **official CanadaBuys open data**, with no login, no scraping and no blocked requests.

**Use it to:**

- 🔔 **Get daily bid alerts for your category.** Schedule it every morning with `onlyNew` and you'll only see tenders you haven't seen before, including amendments.
- 🏗️ **Find construction or services work in your province.** Filter by `categories` and `regions`, for example services work in Ontario.
- 💻 **Track IT and professional-services RFPs** by UNSPSC prefix, for example 43 or 8111.
- 📊 **Feed your CRM, Slack or Google Sheets** with Apify integrations, or with Make or Zapier.

**Why this Actor:**

- It reads the official, licensed government feed (Open Government Licence – Canada), so there's nothing to break.
- Output is bilingual (`language: "fr"`).
- Contact-person details are removed, so the data contains organisation-level information only.

### How much does it cost?

You pay per event: a small fee per run start plus a fee per result. A daily alert that returns 20 new items costs only cents per day. Use `maxResults` or the run's *Max total charge* to cap spend.

### Example inputs

Services tenders in Ontario published in the last 3 days:

```json
{ "feed": "open", "categories": ["SRV"], "regions": ["Ontario"], "publishedWithinDays": 3 }
```

IT tenders by UNSPSC code (43 = IT equipment, 8111 = computer services), with French text:

```json
{ "unspscPrefixes": ["43", "8111"], "language": "fr" }
```

Keyword alert:

```json
{ "keywords": ["cybersecurity", "cloud"], "stateKey": "it-alert" }
```

### Output (one row per notice and amendment)

`referenceNumber, amendmentNumber, solicitationNumber, title, noticeType, status, publicationDate, amendmentDate, closingDate, expectedContractStart/End, procurementCategory, procurementMethod, gsin, unspsc, unspscDescription, tradeAgreements, regionsOfOpportunity, regionsOfDelivery, buyerName, buyerCity, buyerProvince, endUserEntities, description, url`

Named contact people, emails and phone numbers are **removed**.

### Notes

- `feed: "open"` reads all currently open tenders, about 900 at a time. `feed: "new"` reads only today's new notices.
- Each amendment counts as a new item.
- Pricing: pay per event, a small fee per run start plus a fee per notice.
