## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Shopify Store Analyzer

Paste a list of domains and get one row per domain. For each Shopify store you get the store details, theme, installed apps, tracking IDs, public business contacts and socials, plus numbers from the whole product catalog: product count, price range, share on sale, and how many new products the store adds each month.

The Actor checks each domain live when you run it. It doesn't look stores up in a database, so any domain works and the data is from today.

### Who it's for

- **Shopify app and agency sales teams** building prospect lists: which stores run Klaviyo but not Yotpo, which ones use a custom theme, which ones launch products every month.
- **Brands and analysts** sizing up competitors: catalog size, price points, how often they launch, which tools they rely on.
- **Lead lists you already have**: find out which domains are on Shopify before you spend time on them.

### What you get for each domain

| Group | Fields |
|---|---|
| Verdict | `status`, `isShopify`, `headless`, `evidence` (the signals behind the verdict), `statusReason` |
| Store | `storeName`, `myshopifyDomain`, `description`, `country`, `province`, `city`, `currency`, `shipsToCountries` |
| Theme | `themeName`, `baseTheme` (the theme it was built from, even when renamed), `themeVersion`, `customTheme` |
| Apps and tracking | `apps`, `appCategories`, `appCount`, `trackingIds` (Google Tag Manager, GA4, Google Ads, Meta Pixel, TikTok Pixel, Pinterest, Klaviyo) |
| Contacts | `emails` (role addresses such as support@ and hello@), `phones` (E.164), `socials` (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, X, Pinterest, LinkedIn) |
| Catalog | `productCount`, `publishedProductsCount`, `catalogComplete`, `priceMin`, `priceMedian`, `priceMax`, `onSalePct`, `outOfStockPct`, `vendorCount`, `topVendors`, `topProductTypes` |
| Launch activity | `firstProductCreatedAt`, `lastProductCreatedAt`, `lastProductPublishedAt`, `newProducts30d`, `newProducts90d`, `monthlyNewProducts` (last 12 months), `activity` (`active`, `slow` or `dormant`) |

Every row has every field, in the same order, so CSV and Excel exports line up. A field the Actor couldn't fill is `null`.

#### Example row (shortened)

```json
{
  "domain": "brooklinen.com",
  "status": "ok",
  "storeName": "Brooklinen",
  "country": "US",
  "currency": "USD",
  "baseTheme": "Dawn",
  "apps": ["Attentive", "Dynamic Yield", "Elevar", "Swym Wishlist", "Yotpo"],
  "trackingIds": { "googleAnalytics4": ["G-80JGCF4NMJ"] },
  "emails": ["hello@brooklinen.com"],
  "socials": { "instagram": "https://www.instagram.com/brooklinen" },
  "productCount": 508,
  "catalogComplete": true,
  "priceMedian": 51.7,
  "newProducts90d": 94,
  "activity": "active"
}
```

### Status and what it costs

| `status` | Meaning | Charged as |
|---|---|---|
| `ok` | Shopify store, analyzed | Store analyzed |
| `headless_shopify` | Shopify behind a custom front end (Hydrogen and similar). Store JSON isn't available, so catalog numbers are empty | Store analyzed |
| `password_protected` | Shopify store behind a password page | Domain checked |
| `not_shopify` | Not a Shopify store | Domain checked |
| `rate_limited`, `blocked`, `unreachable` | The site didn't answer, or refused | Free |

### Pricing

You pay per event, and platform usage is included:

- $4.00 per 1,000 Shopify stores analyzed.
- $0.50 per 1,000 domains that turn out not to be Shopify, or are password protected.
- Nothing for domains that fail.

Set a maximum cost per run in the run options. The run stops before it would go over, and you're never charged for a row you didn't get.

### Input

| Field | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Domains | | One domain or URL per line. Duplicates are removed. |
| Catalog stats | on | Read the whole product list. Turn it off for a faster check of apps and contacts only. |
| Max products to read per store | 25,000 | Shopify's public product list stops at 25,000. A bigger store is marked `catalogComplete: false`. |
| Public contacts | on | Emails and phones from the home page, contact page and store policies. |
| Include personal-looking emails | off | Adds addresses that look like a person's (jane@) in a separate `otherEmails` field. |
| Stores at once | 10 | Stores analyzed in parallel. All requests share one polite pace. |
| Proxy | none | Optional. Gives each store its own IP, which helps with lists of thousands. |

### How it works

The Actor reads what every Shopify store publishes for anyone: the home page, `meta.json`, the product list at `products.json`, and the store's policy pages. It doesn't log in and doesn't use any private API. Requests are spaced out, and when a store asks the Actor to slow down, it backs off. If Shopify won't serve the home page, the row still has the store details, catalog numbers and contacts, and `statusReason` says which fields are empty.

### Use it from code, n8n or Make

Call the Actor through the [Apify API](https://docs.apify.com/api/v2), the Apify n8n node or the Apify Make module, then read the dataset items. Send the domains as `{"domains": ["allbirds.com", "brooklinen.com"]}`.

### Limits

- Shopify's public product list stops at 25,000 products per store.
- Headless stores show only what their front end exposes: no catalog numbers, and often no theme.
- App detection covers about 340 apps by the scripts they load. An app that adds nothing to the page can't be seen.
- Emails are the ones the store publishes. Personal-looking addresses are left out unless you turn them on, and you're responsible for having a lawful basis to contact anyone.

### FAQ

**Can it find Shopify stores for me?** No. It analyzes the domains you give it. Combine it with your own list, a search export or a CRM.

**How fast is it?** Most stores take 10 to 30 seconds with catalog stats on. A store at the 25,000-product limit takes a few minutes. In testing, a list of 25 mixed domains finished in about 7 minutes.

**Why does a store show hundreds of products "added" in one month?** The dates come from the store's own product records. When a store re-imports its catalog (a platform migration, for example), every product gets the new date, and `monthlyNewProducts` shows one big month.

**Does it track changes over time?** Not yet. Run it on a schedule and compare `productCount`, `apps` and `newProducts30d` between runs.

# Actor input Schema

## `domains` (type: `array`):

One domain or URL per line, for example allbirds.com. Only the domain is used, and duplicates are removed.

## `includeCatalog` (type: `boolean`):

Read the store's whole product list for product count, price range, sale and stock share, and new products per month. Turn off for a faster check of apps and contacts only.

## `maxProductsPerStore` (type: `integer`):

Shopify's public product list stops at 25,000 products. A store with more is marked as not fully read.

## `includeContacts` (type: `boolean`):

Collect email addresses and phone numbers from the home page, contact page and store policies.

## `includeNonRoleEmails` (type: `boolean`):

Off: only role addresses such as support@ or hello@. On: also addresses that look like a person's, in a separate otherEmails field. Those are personal data under GDPR; you're responsible for having a lawful basis to use them.

## `maxConcurrency` (type: `integer`):

How many stores are analyzed in parallel. All requests share one polite pace, because Shopify rate limits per IP across stores.

## `proxyConfiguration` (type: `object`):

Optional. Most lists work without a proxy. For thousands of domains, a proxy gives each store its own IP and the run goes faster.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "domains": [
    "deathwishcoffee.com",
    "allbirds.com",
