# Google Maps Ev Data Scraper (`romy/google-maps-ev-data-scraper`) Actor

Get EV connector-type and payment-network reference data — no competing actor covers this from Google Maps. Talks directly to Google Maps' internal mobile API, no login needed. Split from the mature, published google-maps-all-in-one-api for a focused, single-purpose workflow.

## Pricing

from $1.60 / 1,000 ev reference chargeds

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

### What does Google Maps EV Data Scraper do?

**Google Maps EV Data Scraper** dumps three static Google Maps reference catalogs in one run: EV connector types (J1772, CCS, etc.) with adapter compatibility, EV charging payment networks (ChargePoint, etc.), and the business/place category catalog (the "More Categories" browser on the app's Explore tab). No input required.

It talks directly to the same private gRPC API the official Google Maps Android app uses (`mobilemaps-pa-gz.googleapis.com`), reverse-engineered and proven working in [Google Maps Unofficial API](https://apify.com/romy/google-maps-all-in-one-api) — this is the reference-data slice of that all-in-one Actor, split out as its own focused batch-run Actor (`/ev/connector-types`, `/ev/payment-networks`, `/categories`).

### Why use Google Maps EV Data Scraper?

- **Real protobuf/gRPC data, not scraped HTML**
- **No input needed** — run with `{}` for a full dump, or toggle individual sections off
- **Populate a picker/filter UI** — connector types, payment networks, and category labels/query text ready to feed into other tools, including [google-maps-search-scraper](https://apify.com/romy/google-maps-search-scraper)'s `query` field
- **No account, no API key needed**

### Input

No fields are required. Optional toggles let you skip a section:

| Field                    | Type    | Default | Description                                        |
| ------------------------ | ------- | ------- | -------------------------------------------------- |
| `includeConnectorTypes`  | boolean | `true`  | EV connector-type catalog + adapter compatibility. |
| `includePaymentNetworks` | boolean | `true`  | EV charging payment-network catalog.               |
| `includeCategories`      | boolean | `true`  | Business/place category groups.                    |

Example: `{}` (fetches everything).

### Output

- One row `{ "type": "evConnectorTypes", "connectors": [...], "compat": [...] }`
- One row `{ "type": "evPaymentNetworks", "networks": [...], "country": "..." }`
- One row per category group: `{ "type": "category", "label": "Food & Drink", "iconUrl": "...", "items": [{ "label": "Coffee", "queryText": "Coffee" }] }`

### Known limitations

- `/categories` only reliably replays the one specific captured request confirmed to return the category catalog — related content (weather/air-quality summary, "Trending on Maps" carousel) that the same underlying endpoint can also return was not reliably isolatable and is not exposed here.
- `country` for payment networks is inferred server-side from the request's origin — it may not match the country you're interested in.
- Search, autocomplete, place detail, reviews, directions, and geocoding are separate spin-off Actors — this one is reference-data only. See [google-maps-search-scraper](https://apify.com/romy/google-maps-search-scraper).

### Pricing

Pay per event, via the `ev-reference` event — charged once per reference row pushed to the dataset, starting at $0.003 (FREE tier). A small, fixed number of rows per run since this is a reference dump, not a large scrape. See the Actor's Pricing tab for current rates.

# Actor input Schema

## `includeConnectorTypes` (type: `boolean`):

Pushes one row with the full EV connector-type catalog (e.g. J1772, CCS) and adapter compatibility list.

## `includePaymentNetworks` (type: `boolean`):

Pushes one row with the EV charging payment-network catalog (e.g. ChargePoint). Country is inferred server-side from the request's origin.

## `includeCategories` (type: `boolean`):

Pushes one row per business/place category group (Food & Drink, Shopping, etc.), the same "More Categories" browser shown on the app's Explore tab.

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "includeConnectorTypes": true,
  "includePaymentNetworks": true,
  "includeCategories": true
}
```

## `dataset` (type: `string`):

You can run this Actor programmatically using our API. Below are code examples in JavaScript, Python, and CLI, as well as the OpenAPI specification and MCP server setup.

## JavaScript example

```javascript
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';
// Initialize the ApifyClient with your Apify API token
// Replace the '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>' with your token
const client = new ApifyClient({
    token: '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>',
});
// Prepare Actor input
const input = {};
// Run the Actor and wait for it to finish
const run = await client.actor("romy/google-maps-ev-data-scraper").call(input);
// Fetch and print Actor results from the run's dataset (if any)
console.log('Results from dataset');
console.log(`💾 Check your data here: https://console.apify.com/storage/datasets/${run.defaultDatasetId}`);
const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();
items.forEach((item) => {
