## Pricing

from $1.17 / 1,000 news feed requests

This Actor is paid per event and usage. You are charged both the fixed price for specific events and for Apify platform usage.
Since this Actor supports Apify Store discounts, the price gets lower the higher subscription plan you have.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## MSN All-in-One API

Unofficial, reverse-engineered wrapper around MSN's own public content API. Returns real-time news, weather, and finance data as structured JSON — no scraping, no HTML parsing, no login required.

### What

A Standby REST API that proxies MSN's own backend for:

- **News**: personalized/general feed by market, feed filtered by one of 16 categories, full article detail (including complete article body text, not just a teaser), the category list itself, and article comments (full text, not just counts).
- **Weather**: current conditions, a 10-day forecast overview, 30-day weather trends, and location autosuggest (so you can resolve a place name to coordinates).
- **Finance**: bulk stock/index quotes, single-instrument quote detail (price, exchange info, related gainers/losers/indices), and static currency reference data.
- **Sports**: live/recent scores and schedules for major leagues, current standings, and league highlight videos.

### Why

MSN aggregates licensed news from thousands of publishers along with weather and market data, all through one consistent API. This wrapper exposes that data as clean JSON for anyone who wants real-time headlines, full article text, or market/weather snapshots without building a scraper against MSN's web frontend.

### How

This is a Standby Actor — it runs as a long-lived HTTP server, not a one-shot crawl. Send `GET` requests to its Standby URL with the query parameters documented below; each call returns JSON immediately.

### Input

All parameters are passed as query string parameters on the request URL — there is no JSON input needed to start the Actor.

| Route | Params | Description |
|---|---|---|
| `GET /news/feed` | `market` (e.g. `en-us`, `id-id`, `de-de`), `nextPageUrl` (optional, from a previous response, for pagination) | General/personalized news feed for a market. |
| `GET /news/category` | `market`, `categoryId` (the `id` field of a topic from `/news/topics`, e.g. `Y_bced654c-...`), `nextPageUrl` (optional) | News feed filtered to one category. |
| `GET /news/article` | `market`, `id` (an article id, e.g. `AA2edOWm`) | Full article detail, including the complete article body (HTML). |
| `GET /news/topics` | `market` | The list of available news categories and their ids. |
| `GET /news/comments` | `market`, `id` (article id), `top` (default 20), `skip` (default 0) | Real reader comments on an article (text, score, author, timestamp). |
| `GET /weather/current` | `lat`, `lon`, `market` | Current weather conditions for a location. |
| `GET /weather/forecast` | `lat`, `lon`, `market`, `region` (optional), `days` (default 10) | Multi-day forecast overview. |
| `GET /weather/trends` | `lat`, `lon`, `market`, `days` (default 30) | Monthly temperature/climate trend data. |
| `GET /weather/location-search` | `q`, `market` | Resolve a place name to coordinates and places/addresses/businesses. |
| `GET /finance/quotes` | `ids` (comma-separated MSN instrument ids) | Bulk real-time price quotes. |
| `GET /finance/quote-detail` | `id`, `market` | Full quote detail for one instrument: price, exchange, related gainers/losers/indices. |
| `GET /finance/currencies` | `market` | Static currency/country reference data. |
| `GET /sports/scores` | `leagueId` (e.g. `IceHockey_NHL`), `sport` (e.g. `IceHockey`) | Live and recently completed games for a league — scores by period, game state, broadcast channels, win probabilities. |
| `GET /sports/standings` | `leagueId`, `seasonPhase` (default `regularSeason`) | Current league standings/table. |
| `GET /sports/schedule` | `leagueId`, `date` (optional, `YYYY-MM-DD`, defaults to today) | Upcoming/past schedule for a league. |
| `GET /sports/videos` | `leagueId` | Recent highlight videos for a league. |

League ids follow the `{Sport}_{League}` pattern, e.g. `Football_NFL`/`Football`, `Soccer_EnglandPremierLeague`/`Soccer`. 36 leagues across American football, basketball, baseball, ice hockey, and soccer (domestic leagues plus major international competitions) are live-verified and listed as an `enum` on the `leagueId` parameter — see the OpenAPI/Swagger UI for the full set.

Market codes follow MSN's own locale format (`language-COUNTRY`). 61 markets are live-verified and listed as an `enum` on the `market` parameter — see the OpenAPI/Swagger UI for the full set. Finance instrument ids are MSN's own opaque identifiers (not plain ticker symbols) — get them from `/finance/quotes` or `/finance/quote-detail` responses (e.g. the `relatedIndices`/`active` lists), or from MSN's own site.

### Output

Each route returns MSN's own response JSON largely as-is — field names and shapes follow MSN's API directly, so the response is richer and more detailed than any fixed Apify Dataset schema could usefully flatten. See the Input table above for what each route's response contains.

### Pricing

Pay-per-event:

- `apify-actor-start` — flat fee per Actor Standby run.
- `news-feed`, `news-article`, `news-topics`, `news-comments` — one charge per call.
- `weather-lookup` — one charge per weather call.
- `finance-lookup` — one charge per instrument looked up (bulk `/finance/quotes` charges per id requested).
- `sports-lookup` — one charge per sports call.

### Known limitations

- Article full-text and comments are only as complete as MSN's own backend serves them; some publishers' articles may have shorter bodies than others, and very new articles may have zero comments yet.
- Finance quote detail does not include historical price charts (MSN's own chart data endpoint behaves inconsistently outside a real browser session and was left out rather than ship something unreliable).
- `/news/comments` does not support posting — it is read-only, matching this Actor's read-only scope.
- Sports coverage depends on MSN's own league catalog; not every league/competition worldwide is available, and league ids must match MSN's own naming exactly (see the confirmed examples above).
