## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Whatnot Seller Reviews Scraper

**Whatnot Seller Reviews Scraper** extracts the written reviews of one or more [Whatnot](https://www.whatnot.com) sellers in bulk: overall rating, review text, date, the seller's reply, and the shipping, packaging and accuracy ratings, plus an optional rating summary per seller. It uses the same public GraphQL API the Whatnot app uses for a signed-out user, so no account, app or device is needed.

Spun off from the [Whatnot All-in-One API](https://github.com/RomySaputraSihananda/whatnot-all-in-one-api) for teams that want a run-and-export dataset instead of a live API.

### Why use this Actor?

- **Seller reputation monitoring** — track a seller's rating trend and recurring complaints (shipping, packaging, accuracy).
- **Competitive and sourcing research** — compare sellers before buying inventory or partnering.
- **Sentiment analysis** — feed review text into your own NLP pipeline; filter to only 1-3 star or only 5 star reviews.

### Input

| Field                  | Required | Description                                                                                          |
| ---------------------- | -------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| `usernames`            | yes      | Seller usernames (case-insensitive, with or without a leading `@`).                                  |
| `maxReviewsPerSeller` | no | Stop after this many reviews per seller. Default `500` (spending guard); raise it for large sellers. |
| `minRating` | no | Only reviews whose overall rating is at least this many stars (1-5). Applied server-side. |
| `includeReviewers` | no | Add the reviewer's username, id and photo. Personal data, off by default. |
| `includeSellerSummary` | no       | Add one summary row per seller (default `true`).                                                     |

### Output

One dataset row per review (newest first, de-duplicated by review id):

```json
{
    "type": "review",
    "sellerUsername": "grabtronics",
    "reviewId": "U2VsbGVyUmV2aWV3Tm9kZTo0NTk2NDE3Nzg6NDc3MDkyNTI6MTkzMjUyMDE=",
    "rating": 5,
    "averageRating": 5,
    "text": "Thank you for giveaway! Super fast delivery! Great seller",
    "reviewedOn": "Sun, 20 Sep 2026 17:36:38 GMT",
    "reviewedAt": "2026-09-20T17:36:38.000Z",
    "sellerResponse": null,
    "ratings": { "overall": 5, "shipping": 5, "packaging": 5, "accuracy": 5 }
}
```

With `includeSellerSummary` each seller also gets one row:

```json
{
    "type": "seller-summary",
    "sellerUsername": "grabtronics",
    "found": true,
    "overallRating": 4.4,
    "shippingRating": 4.7,
    "packagingRating": 4.6,
    "accuracyRating": 4.4,
    "numReviews": 10141,
    "soldCount": 36174,
    "followerCount": 108362,
    "isVerifiedSeller": false
}
```

Unknown usernames produce `{ "type": "seller-summary", "sellerUsername": "...", "found": false }` and are not billed.

### Notes

- `numReviews` counts **every rating** of the seller, including ratings without text; the dataset only contains the written reviews, so it can hold fewer rows than `numReviews`.
- Reviews use Whatnot's RFC-1123 date string (`reviewedOn`); `reviewedAt` is the same instant as an ISO 8601 timestamp.
- `minRating` filters on the overall star rating, not on the average of the topic ratings (`averageRating`).
- Reviewer identities and photos are personal data. Leave `includeReviewers` off unless you have a lawful reason to collect them.

### Pricing / Cost estimation

Billed **pay-per-event**: one `review` event per review row and one `seller-summary` event per summary row, plus a flat `apify-actor-start` event per run. Rows you set a limit for (`maxReviewsPerSeller`) or that a run's spending limit cuts off are not billed beyond that limit, and unknown sellers are free.
