## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## App Store Reviews: every country, one run

Download iPhone and iPad app reviews from **Apple's official public reviews feed**, for one country or 55 at once,
with a rating summary per country. Paste App Store links, app ids or just app names. No login, no browser, no
blocked pages, and no reviewer names collected.

Good for product and UX teams reading feedback by market, app marketers tracking ratings after each release,
competitor research, review analysis with AI (sentiment, feature requests, bug reports), and agencies reporting to
clients.

### Input

- `apps` (required): one per line: an App Store link (`https://apps.apple.com/us/app/instagram/id389801252`), an
app id (`389801252`), or an app name (`Duolingo`; the top App Store search result is used).
- `countries`: two-letter App Store codes (`us`, `gb`, `in`, `de` ...), or `all` for 55 major storefronts. Default
  `us`.
- `maxReviewsPerCountry`: up to 500 (Apple's feed serves the 500 most recent reviews per country).
- `minRating` / `maxRating`: keep only some star ratings, e.g. 1 to 2 to collect complaints.

### Output (one dataset item per review)

`appId`, `appName`, `country`, `reviewId`, `rating` (1-5), `title`, `text`, `version` (the app version reviewed),
`updatedAt`, `voteCount`, `voteSum`, `source`, `scrapedAt`.

A `SUMMARY` record in the run's key-value store gives each app's details (name, developer, overall average rating,
rating count, current version, genre, link) and, per country, the number of reviews collected, their average and
the 1-5 star distribution.

### Honest limits

- Apple's public feed gives only the **500 most recent reviews per country**, newest first. Older reviews and
ratings without text are not available from it.
- Reviews are per storefront: an app with few reviews in a small country returns few or none there.
- An app name is matched to the top App Store search result; paste the link when the name is ambiguous.

### Privacy and fair use

- Reviewer names and profile links are never collected; email addresses and phone numbers inside review text are
  replaced with `[email]` and `[phone]`.
- Uses Apple's public feed and lookup API only, at a gentle pace with polite retries.

### Price

Pay per result: about **$0.80 per 1,000 reviews** (planned price; the current price is on the store listing).
