## Pricing

$1.00 / 1,000 places

This Actor is paid per event. You are not charged for the Apify platform usage, but only a fixed price for specific events.

## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Local Businesses Near Me: OpenStreetMap places by city

List restaurants, hotels, pharmacies, gyms, travel agencies and dozens of other kinds of local business in any
city or area worldwide, from **OpenStreetMap's open data**. No API key, no browser, no blocked pages, and no phone
numbers or emails in the output.

Good for market maps ("every cafe in Pokhara"), local lead lists built from business websites, travel and relocation
guides, store-locator seeds, and AI agents that need a structured list of places.

### Input

- `locations` (required): one per line, a city, district or area (`Pokhara, Nepal`, `Austin, Texas`). Each is looked
  up once and searched inside its bounding box.
- `categories` (required): plain names (`restaurant`, `cafe`, `hotel`, `guest_house`, `pharmacy`, `hospital`, `bank`,
  `gym`, `travel_agency`, `hairdresser`, `supermarket`, `school`, `dentist` and about 30 more) or any OpenStreetMap
  tag as `key=value` (`shop=bakery`).
- `maxPlacesPerCategory`: up to 2,000 per category and location (default 200).
- `onlyWithWebsite`: keep only places that list a website.

### Output (one dataset item per place)

`name`, `nameEnglish`, `category`, `location`, `address`, `latitude`, `longitude`, `website`, `openingHours`,
`cuisine`, `stars`, `wheelchair`, `osmUrl`, `license`, `scrapedAt`. A `SUMMARY` record lists, per location, the area
that was matched and how many places each category returned.

### Honest limits

- It is community-edited map data: coverage is excellent in some cities and thin in others, and there are **no
  ratings, reviews or photos**. Fields such as address or opening hours are filled only where mappers added them.
- The area is the bounding box of the matched place, so a search can include places just outside the city limits.
- Places without a name are skipped.

### Privacy and fair use

- Phone numbers, emails and personal social profiles are never returned; use `osmUrl` to see the public record.
- Data © OpenStreetMap contributors, licensed under the ODbL; each item carries the attribution, and you must keep it
  when you republish the data.
- Uses the public Nominatim and Overpass services at their requested pace (one geocoding request per second).

### Price

Pay per result: about **$1.00 per 1,000 places** (planned price; the current price is on the store listing).

Built and maintained by Digipahad (digipahad.com).

# Actor input Schema

## `locations` (type: `array`):

One per line: a city, district or area, e.g. 'Pokhara, Nepal' or 'Austin, Texas'. Each is looked up once and searched inside its bounding box.

## `categories` (type: `array`):

Plain names such as restaurant, cafe, hotel, guest_house, pharmacy, hospital, bank, gym, travel_agency, hairdresser, supermarket, school, dentist ... or any OpenStreetMap tag as key=value (for example shop=bakery).

## `maxPlacesPerCategory` (type: `integer`):

Upper limit per category in each location.

## `onlyWithWebsite` (type: `boolean`):

Keep only places that list a website (handy for lead lists).

## Actor input object example

```json
{
  "locations": [
    "Pokhara, Nepal"
  ],
  "categories": [
    "restaurant",
    "travel_agency"
  ],
  "maxPlacesPerCategory": 200,
  "onlyWithWebsite": false
}
```

# Actor output Schema

## `results` (type: `string`):

One row per place from OpenStreetMap: name, category, address, coordinates, website and opening hours.

## `summary` (type: `string`):

Per-location counts for the run, saved as the SUMMARY record.

# API

You can run this Actor programmatically using our API. Below are code examples in JavaScript, Python, and CLI, as well as the OpenAPI specification and MCP server setup.

## JavaScript example

```javascript
import { ApifyClient } from 'apify-client';
// Initialize the ApifyClient with your Apify API token
// Replace the '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>' with your token
const client = new ApifyClient({
    token: '<YOUR_API_TOKEN>',
});
// Prepare Actor input
const input = {
    "locations": [
        "Pokhara, Nepal"
    ],
    "categories": [
        "restaurant",
        "travel_agency"
    ]
};
// Run the Actor and wait for it to finish
const run = await client.actor("rounded_narcissus/osm-local-businesses").call(input);
// Fetch and print Actor results from the run's dataset (if any)
console.log('Results from dataset');
console.log(`💾 Check your data here: https://console.apify.com/storage/datasets/${run.defaultDatasetId}`);
const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();
items.forEach((item) => {
    console.dir(item);
});
