## What's an Apify Actor?

An Actor is a serverless cloud program that runs on the Apify platform. It has two run modes.
In Batch mode, an Actor accepts a well-defined JSON input, performs an action which can take anything from a few seconds to a few hours,
and optionally produces a well-defined JSON output, datasets with results, or files in key-value store.
In Standby mode, an Actor provides a web server which can be used as a website, API, or an MCP server.

Apify vocabulary and the platform model are defined once, in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md.

## How to integrate an Actor?

If asked about integration, you help developers integrate Actors into their projects.
You adapt to their stack and deliver integrations that are safe, well-documented, and production-ready.

Do not guess an integration path. Every one of them is in the agent quickstart at https://apify.com/agents.md: the Apify MCP server, Agent Skills with the Apify CLI, the JavaScript and Python clients, the REST API, and the account-free path for an agent with no human to sign in. It also carries the rule on stating cost before the first paid run.

For examples already wired to this Actor's own input schema, see the [API](#api) section below.

Each client library has reference documentation the quickstart does not restate: [JavaScript/TypeScript](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/js/docs.md) (`npm install apify-client`) and [Python](https://docs.apify.com/api/client/python/docs.md) (`pip install apify-client`).

# README

## Apple App Store Scraper – Top Charts, Search & App Data

Get App Store top charts for any country and category, App Store search results and full app details: rank, app name, developer, price, rating, number of ratings, category, version, size, release and update dates.
Schedule it daily to track chart positions, competitors and new launches.
Built for app marketers and ASO teams, app developers, investors and market researchers, and AI agents.
The data comes from Apple's public App Store feeds and search API, so there is no login and no scraping of web pages.

### What you get

- **Top charts**: top free, top paid and top grossing (iPhone and iPad) and new apps, overall or per category (Finance, Games, Health & Fitness and 22 more), up to 100 apps each, in chart order.
- **Search**: the apps the App Store returns for any search term, ranked.
- **App details** for any app id or App Store URL.
- **Any country**: run the same charts for many countries in one go.
- Every row has the full app record: developer, price, rating, ratings count, categories, versions and dates, size, age rating, minimum iOS, languages and links. Descriptions and release notes are optional.

Reviews are not included.

### Input

| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| `charts` | `top_free`, `top_paid`, `top_grossing`, `top_free_ipad`, `top_paid_ipad`, `top_grossing_ipad`, `new`. Default: `top_free`. |
| `categories` | Optional categories for category charts. Empty = overall chart. |
| `countries` | 2-letter store codes (`us`, `gb`, `de`, `jp` ...), up to 50. Default `us`. |
| `searchTerms` | Optional App Store searches. |
| `appIds` | Optional app ids or App Store URLs. |
| `maxPerChart` | Up to 100 (Apple's chart length). |
| `maxPerSearch` | Up to 200 (Apple sometimes returns fewer). |
| `includeDescription` | Add description and latest release notes. |

### Pricing

Pay per event, no subscription:

- **$1 per 1,000 apps** ($0.001 per app row).
- $0.001 per run start.

Examples: the US top 100 free apps cost $0.101. Top free, paid and grossing for 10 countries (3,000 apps) cost about $3.00. A daily top-100 chart in one category costs about $3 a month.

You can cap the cost of a run with the maximum charge setting; the Actor stops when the budget is used. Error rows (unknown app, invalid id) are never charged.

### Good to know

- Charts reflect Apple's feeds at run time; `rank` is the position in the chart or search.
- Apple limits how fast its public endpoints can be called, so a run reads about 20 lists or lookups per minute. Big multi-country runs take a few minutes.
- `developer` is the developer name shown on the App Store.
